Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether circulating pyruvate kinase M2 (PK-M2) levels are elevated in the peripheral blood and to assess their association with diagnosis and prognosis in patients with heart failure (HF).

Methods And Results: We conducted a prospective investigation involving 222 patients with HF and 103 control subjects, measuring PK-M2 concentrations using ELISA. The primary outcome, assessed over a median follow-up of 2 years (interquartile range: 776 to 926 days), was the time to the first occurrence of either rehospitalization for worsening HF or cardiovascular death.

The relation between humor styles and nurse burnout: a cross-sectional study in China.

Background: Nurse burnout is a prevalent issue in healthcare, impacting both nurses' well-being and patient care quality. This cross-sectional study examined the association between humor styles and nurse burnout.

Methods: A total of 244 nurses in China completed an online self-report measure to assess their humor styles and burnout levels using the Humor Styles Questionnaire (HSQ) and the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS).

Analysis of Risk Factors for Poor Drainage of Ureteral Stents after Radical Cystectomy with Cutaneous Ureterostomy: A Retrospective Study.

Objective: Currently, the factors influencing poor drainage of ureteral stents after radical cystectomy with cutaneous ureterostomy are still unclear. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the risk factors for poor drainage of ureteral stents after radical cystectomy with cutaneous ureterostomy and to provide evidence for the prevention of this complication.

Methods: This retrospective study included 86 patients who underwent periodic replacement of ureteral stents following radical cystectomy with cutaneous ureterostomy between October 2017 and March 2024.

Background: Breastfeeding not only meets the nutritional needs of newborn growth and development but also promotes uterine contraction and discharge of lochia, which helps in maternal recovery. However, some mothers experience abnormal lactation and breast swelling due to a lack of breastfeeding knowledge, painful cesarean incisions, anesthesia, negative emotions, and other factors, resulting in a reduced breastfeeding rate, which adversely affects neonatal and maternal health.

This study aimed to explore the clinical effectiveness of nursing methods that incorporate health belief models on the self-care practices of maintenance hemodialysis patients. The objective was to enhance patients' health beliefs, strengthen their healthy behaviors and habits, improve their unhealthy daily behaviors, and provide robust theoretical and practical foundations for future nursing practices in this area. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 150 hemodialysis patients from our hospital, from January 2019 to February 2023.

Objective: To explore the functional connectivity (FC) characteristics of the episodic memory network (EMN) in amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) patients with different levels of executive function (EF).

Methods: This study included 76 participants from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database, comprising 23 healthy controls (HCs) and 53 aMCI patients. Based on EF levels, aMCI patients were categorized into aMCI-highEF and aMCI-lowEF groups.

The focus of this study was the role of GABAergic neurons which are the main neuron group in the ventral pallidum (VP) closely associated with anesthetic effects in propofol anesthesia. The activity of VP GABAergic neurons following propofol anesthesia in Vgat-Cre mice was observed via detecting c-Fos immunoreactivity by immunofluorescence and western blotting.

Background: We previously conducted a case-control study and found that exposure to electronic screen before nocturnal sleep was associated with hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HDP). Hence, we carried out this cohort study aiming to identify the effects of screen exposure time on the incidence rate and severity of HDP.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted from January 2022 and July 2022 from three hospitals in Wuxi and Changzhou cities.

FOXO4 was previously identified as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMO) using bioinformatic analysis, but its specific function and molecular mechanism in the progression of osteoporosis was not reported. The current study was designed to investigate the biological function and underlying mechanism of FOXO4 in PMO. Our results showed that FOXO4 expression was significantly upregulated in the serum samples of PMO patients, which was also negatively correlated with the expression of osteogenesis genes (OCN and ALP).
