Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether circulating pyruvate kinase M2 (PK-M2) levels are elevated in the peripheral blood and to assess their association with diagnosis and prognosis in patients with heart failure (HF).
Methods And Results: We conducted a prospective investigation involving 222 patients with HF and 103 control subjects, measuring PK-M2 concentrations using ELISA. The primary outcome, assessed over a median follow-up of 2 years (interquartile range: 776 to 926 days), was the time to the first occurrence of either rehospitalization for worsening HF or cardiovascular death.

Background: Nurse burnout is a prevalent issue in healthcare, impacting both nurses' well-being and patient care quality. This cross-sectional study examined the association between humor styles and nurse burnout.
Methods: A total of 244 nurses in China completed an online self-report measure to assess their humor styles and burnout levels using the Humor Styles Questionnaire (HSQ) and the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS).

Gastric cancer (GC) is a common digestive malignancy that causes numerous cancer-related deaths. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a crucial role in the development of various tumors, including GC. In this study, we revealed that ELFN1-AS1, a lncRNA with aberrantly high expression, contributes to the proliferation and metastasis of GC.

Objective: Currently, the factors influencing poor drainage of ureteral stents after radical cystectomy with cutaneous ureterostomy are still unclear. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the risk factors for poor drainage of ureteral stents after radical cystectomy with cutaneous ureterostomy and to provide evidence for the prevention of this complication.
Methods: This retrospective study included 86 patients who underwent periodic replacement of ureteral stents following radical cystectomy with cutaneous ureterostomy between October 2017 and March 2024.

Background: Breastfeeding not only meets the nutritional needs of newborn growth and development but also promotes uterine contraction and discharge of lochia, which helps in maternal recovery. However, some mothers experience abnormal lactation and breast swelling due to a lack of breastfeeding knowledge, painful cesarean incisions, anesthesia, negative emotions, and other factors, resulting in a reduced breastfeeding rate, which adversely affects neonatal and maternal health.
Aim: To explore the effects of care intervention with a health education form for breastfeeding on breastfeeding-related conditions.

The diagnostic criteria for preeclampsia do not accurately reflect the pathophysiological characteristics of patients with preeclampsia. Conventional biomarkers and diagnostic approaches have proven insufficient to fully comprehend the intricacies of preeclampsia. This study aimed to screen differentially abundant metabolites as candidate biomarkers for preeclampsia.

This study aimed to explore the clinical effectiveness of nursing methods that incorporate health belief models on the self-care practices of maintenance hemodialysis patients. The objective was to enhance patients' health beliefs, strengthen their healthy behaviors and habits, improve their unhealthy daily behaviors, and provide robust theoretical and practical foundations for future nursing practices in this area. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 150 hemodialysis patients from our hospital, from January 2019 to February 2023.

Myocardial infarction occurs rapidly, and thus the rapid detection of cTnI levels is the key to its diagnosis. Most current assays take 10-30 min. In this study, we developed a method for accurately measuring cardiac troponin I (cTnI) levels in human sera with amplified luminescence neighborhood homogeneous assay (AlphaLISA).

Objective: To explore the functional connectivity (FC) characteristics of the episodic memory network (EMN) in amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) patients with different levels of executive function (EF).
Methods: This study included 76 participants from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database, comprising 23 healthy controls (HCs) and 53 aMCI patients. Based on EF levels, aMCI patients were categorized into aMCI-highEF and aMCI-lowEF groups.

The full mechanism of action of propofol, a commonly administered intravenous anesthetic drug in clinical practice, remains elusive. The focus of this study was the role of GABAergic neurons which are the main neuron group in the ventral pallidum (VP) closely associated with anesthetic effects in propofol anesthesia. The activity of VP GABAergic neurons following propofol anesthesia in Vgat-Cre mice was observed via detecting c-Fos immunoreactivity by immunofluorescence and western blotting.

Background: We previously conducted a case-control study and found that exposure to electronic screen before nocturnal sleep was associated with hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HDP). Hence, we carried out this cohort study aiming to identify the effects of screen exposure time on the incidence rate and severity of HDP.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted from January 2022 and July 2022 from three hospitals in Wuxi and Changzhou cities.

Background And Aims: Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) is a significant cause of maternal and neonatal mortality. This study aims to identify risk factors for new-onset HDP and to develop a prediction model for assessing the risk of new-onset hypertension during pregnancy.
Methods: We included 446 pregnant women without baseline hypertension from Liyang People's Hospital at the first inspection, and they were followed up until delivery.

Patients with advanced gastric cancer typically face a grim prognosis. This phase 1a (dose escalation) and phase 1b (dose expansion) study investigated safety and efficacy of first-line camrelizumab plus apatinib and chemotherapy for advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. The primary endpoints included maximum tolerated dose (MTD) in phase 1a and objective response rate (ORR) across phase 1a and 1b.

Background: Older patients with cancer experience cognitive impairment and a series of neurocognitive symptoms known as chemobrain due to chemotherapy. Moreover, older populations are disproportionately affected by chemobrain and heightened negative mental health outcomes after cytotoxic chemical drug therapy. Chinese acupuncture is an emerging therapeutic option for chemotherapy-induced cognitive impairment in older patients with cancer, despite limited supporting evidence.

Isoprenaline hydrochloride (IH) is a β-adrenergic receptor agonist commonly used in the treatment of hypotension, shock, asthma, and other diseases. However, IH-induced cardiotoxicity limits its application. A large number of studies have shown that long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) regulates the occurrence and development of cardiovascular diseases.

FOXO4 was previously identified as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMO) using bioinformatic analysis, but its specific function and molecular mechanism in the progression of osteoporosis was not reported. The current study was designed to investigate the biological function and underlying mechanism of FOXO4 in PMO. Our results showed that FOXO4 expression was significantly upregulated in the serum samples of PMO patients, which was also negatively correlated with the expression of osteogenesis genes (OCN and ALP).

Given the potential role of microRNA (miRNA) in the pathological process of ischemic heart disease, clinical patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) were recruited and serum miR-127-3p levels in the patients were tested. In vitro, the effects of miR-127-3p on cardiomyocyte apoptosis and inflammation induced by hypoxia and reoxygenation (H/R) were also elucidated in AC16 cells.Collection of serum samples from 113 AMI patients and 104 healthy controls was done.
