There are two main groups of screw-type dental implant designs: one-piece and two-piece implants. Although success rates of both of these types of implants are high, none of them avoid complications, of which the most common are peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis. Current clinical diagnostic parameters are relatively noninvasive and cost-efficient; however, they are often not sensitive enough and fail to determine the activity of inflammation.

Background: Amiodarone is an antiarrhythmic drug which is used to treat and prevent several dysrhythmias. This includes ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation, wide complex tachycardia, as well as atrial fibrillation (AF) and paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. Amiodarone may prove to be the agent of choice where the patient is hemodynamically unstable and unsuitable for direct current (DC) cardioversion.

An approach to atrial fibrillation (AF) frequency tracking in long-term ambulatory ECG recordings is presented, comprising f-wave extraction, dominant atrial frequency (DAF) tracking, and signal quality assessment. Since poor signal quality is commonly encountered in ambulatory monitoring, a recently proposed index is employed to assess f-wave signal quality in a database containing 38 patients with permanent AF. The index ensures that DAF outliers, typically associated with poor-quality segments, are excluded from further analysis.

Arthroscopic surgery has grown rapidly in recent decades. Despite accurately diagnosed clinical cases, the previous pain is retained in some patients after the operation, even though no visible chondral lesions are found during the procedure. A minimally invasive arthroscopic method of measuring articular cartilage electromechanical properties enables rapid and reliable intraoperative articular cartilage quality evaluation.

Objective: To determine the applicability of a minimally invasive diagnostic device to evaluate the quality of articular cartilage following autologous (OAT) and allogeneic (OCA) osteochondral graft transplantation in goat model.
Design: OAT grafts were harvested from lateral femoral condyles (LFCs) and transplanted into osteochondral defects created in medial femoral condyles (MFCs) of contralateral knees. OCA grafts were transplanted into MFC condyles after storage.

Farm workers are at increased risk for animal-inflicted head injuries that are associated with significant morbidity and occasionally may be fatal. These injuries may cause permanent eye damage with or without concomitant skull base fracture. Here, we present a male farmer who suffered a cow attack that resulted in perforating orbital injury with comminuted frontobasal cranial fracture caused by a cow's horn.

Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) is a rare and deadly childhood malignancy. After 40 years of mostly single-center, often non-randomized trials with variable patient inclusions, there has been no improvement in survival. It is therefore time for international collaboration in DIPG research, to provide new hope for children, parents and medical professionals fighting DIPG.
