Background And Importance: Marked differences have been described between women and men in disease prevalence, clinical presentation, response to treatment and outcomes. However, such data are scarce in the acutely ill. An awareness of differences related to biological sex is essential for the success of clinical care and outcomes in patients presenting with acute dyspnea, the most frequent cause of emergency department (ED) admission.

Over the last decade DLW employing ultrafast pulsed lasers has become a well-established technique for the creation of custom-made free-form three-dimensional (3D) microscaffolds out of a variety of materials ranging from proteins to biocompatible glasses. Its potential applications for manufacturing a patient's specific scaffold seem unlimited in terms of spatial resolution and geometry complexity. However, despite few exceptions in which live cells or primitive organisms were encapsulated into a polymer matrix, no demonstration of an in vivo study case of scaffolds generated with the use of such a method was performed.

The control of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) was addressed by the declaration of the 66th United Nations (UN) General Assembly followed by the World Health Organization's (WHO) NCD 2020 action plan. There is a clear need to better apply evidence in public health settings to tackle both behaviour-related factors and the underlying social and economic conditions. This article describes concepts of evidence-based public health (EBPH) and outlines a set of actions that are essential for successful global NCD prevention.

The aim of this study was to detect Mycoplasma species in the respiratory tract of 110, 310 and 510 day-old groups of cattle by serological, bacteriological and histopathological investigations. Antibodies against M. bovis were found in 75% of the 110 day-old, in 50%--of the 310 day-old and in 55%--of the 510 day-old groups of cattle.

Introduction: The aim of this study is to present the oncologic outcomes and to determine prognostic parameters of overall (OS), cancer specific survival (CSS), disease progression free survival (DPFS) and biochemical progression free survival (BPFS) after surgery for pT3a prostate cancer (PCa).

Material And Methods: Between 2002 and 2007, a pT3a stage after radical prostatectomy was detected in 126 patients at our institution. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to calculate OS, CSS, DPFS and BPFS.

Article Synopsis
  • Prostate cancer with a Gleason score of 6 is common in biopsies, and this study aimed to understand why some tumors are graded higher after surgery.
  • The research involved 241 patients who had surgery for Gleason score 6 cancer, analyzing various clinical factors to see what might predict an upgrade in Gleason score.
  • Results showed that about 38.2% of patients had their scores upgraded after surgery, with prostate weight and PSA density being significant predictors of this upgrade along with increased risk of more serious cancer features.
