The impact of endogenous N/OFQ on DPN: Insights into lower limb blood flow regulation in rats.

Neuropeptides

December 2024

College of Anesthesiology, Shanxi Medical University, Taiyuan 030000, China; Department of Anesthesiology, Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, Taiyuan 030000, China. Electronic address:

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a common complication of diabetes, often accompanied by impaired vascular endothelial function in the lower limbs. This dysfunction is characterized by a reduced vasodilatory response, leading to decreased blood flow in the lower limbs and ultimately contributing to the development of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. To delve deeper into this pathological process, the study employed bioinformatics to identify and analyze genes highly active in DPN.

Currently, despite the vast amounts of time and money invested in cancer treatment, cancer remains one of the primary threats to human life. The primary factor contributing to the low treatment efficacy is cancer heterogeneity. The unclear molecular mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis, coupled with the complexity of human physiology, and the inability of animal models to accurately replicate the human tumor microenvironment, pose significant hurdles in the development of novel cancer therapies.

Traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) is a serious disease of the central nervous system. Aside from the limited intrinsic regenerative capacity of neurons, complex microenvironmental disturbances can also lead to further cellular damage and growth inhibition. Programmed cell death regulated by pyroptosis has an important role in the pathogenesis of SCI.

In the current context of the increasing incidence of breast cancer, we aim to develop an efficient drug carrier for breast cancer by constructing an innovative complex consisting of a metal-organic framework (MOF) and a hydrogel. The aim of this initiative is to provide new ideas and tools for breast cancer treatment strategies through scientific research, so as to address the current challenges in breast cancer treatment. In the present study, by employment of a new Co(II)-based coordination polymer with the chemical formula of [Co(HO)(CHOH)L] (1) (HL = 5-(1 H-tetrazol-5-yl)nicotinic acid) was solvothermally synthesized by reaction of Co(NO)·6HO a mixed solvent of MeOH and water.

Perioperative changes of serum orphanin in diabetic patients and its relationship with sympathetic nervous system.

Neuropeptides

April 2024

Department of Anaesthesia, Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, 382 Wuyi Road, Taiyuan 030001, Shanxi, China; College of Anaesthesia, Shanxi Medical University, 86 Xinjiannan Road, Taiyuan 030001, Shanxi, China. Electronic address:

The occurrence of cardiovascular events in diabetic patients during the perioperative period is related to the activation of sympathetic nerves. Basic research shows that serum nociceptin/orphanin FQ (N/OFQ) levels in diabetic neuropathy rats increased, and N/OFQ reduces the release of norepinephrine (NE). We hypothesize that N/OFQ will affect the sympathetic nervous system during perioperative myocardium of diabetic patients.

Non-peptide orphanin receptor antagonist activity in rat myocardial ischemia-induced cardiac arrhythmias.

Biochem Biophys Res Commun

December 2023

Department of Anesthesiology, Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, Taiyuan, 030000, China; College of Anesthesiology, Shanxi Medical University, Taiyuan, 030000, China.

One of the causes of sudden cardiac death is arrhythmia after acute myocardial ischemia. After ischemia, endogenous orphanin (N/OFQ) plays a role in the development of arrhythmias. It is discussed in this paper how nonpeptide orphanin receptor (ORL1) antagonists such as J-113397, SB-612111 and compound-24 (C-24) affect arrhythmia in rats following acute myocardial ischemia and what the optimal concentrations for these antagonists are.

Objective: It is well known that paclitaxel (PTX)-induced neurotoxicity seriously affects the quality of life of patients and is the main reason for reducing the dose of chemotherapy or even stopping chemotherapy. The current data are limited, and further information is required for practice and verification. The aims of this study were to clarify the molecular mechanism underlying PTX-induced neurotoxicity by combining and metabolomics studies and provide new targets for the prevention and treatment of PTX-induced neurotoxicity.

BMC Health Serv Res

July 2023

School of Medicine and Health Management, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, 430030, Hubei, China.

Background: It is known that caregivers are more likely to be depressed compared to those without caregiving burden. The disappearance of caregiving burden after widowhood may alleviate depression, but at the same time the diminishment of marital resources caused by widowhood may exacerbate depression. So, what effect does widowhood have on depression among caregivers?, which was valuable for promoting the mental health of caregivers in the context of China's aging.

The minimally invasive injection of bone cement (MIIBC) is an effective way to treat senile osteoporotic spinal fractures (OSF) in clinical practice. However, the intraspinal dura and nerves may be damaged when the puncture needle passes through the pedicle. Therefore, in this protocol, the puncture site was optimized during the surgery, selecting the same 1-2 cm away from the surface projection of the diseased vertebra.
