Background And Aim: The aim was to investigate the association between sarcoidosis and anxiety and/or depression (A/D) in patients with sarcoidosis and comparators matched on age, gender, residency, and cohabitation status.

Methods: Patients with newly diagnosed sarcoidosis between 2001 and 2015 were identified in the Danish National Patient Register. Cases were matched 1:4 with non-sarcoidosis comparators.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging as a Diagnostic Tool for Ilio-Femoro-Caval Deep Venous Thrombosis.

This study aimed to test the accuracy of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based method to detect and characterise deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in the ilio-femoro-caval veins. Patients with verified DVT in the lower extremities with extension of the thrombi to the iliac veins, who were suitable for catheter-based venous thrombolysis, were included in this study. Before the intervention, magnetic resonance venography (MRV) was performed, and the ilio-femoro-caval veins were independently evaluated for normal appearance, stenosis, and occlusion by two single-blinded observers.

Background: The epidemiology of nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infections is not well described. In this study, we sought to determine the incidence and prevalence of NTM infections and focus on social risk factors. In addition, we describe people with pulmonary and extrapulmonary NTM.

Impact of timing and format of patient decision aids for breast cancer patients on their involvement in and preparedness for decision making - the IMPACTT randomised controlled trial protocol.

Background: After curative surgery for early-stage breast cancer, patients face a decision on whether to undergo surgery alone or to receive one or more adjuvant treatments, which may lower the risk of recurrence. Variations in survival outcomes are often marginal but there are differences in the side effects and other features of the options that patients may value differently. Hence, the patient's values and preferences are critical in determining what option to choose.

Non-opioid analgesic combinations following total hip arthroplasty (RECIPE): a randomised, placebo-controlled, blinded, multicentre trial.

Background: Multimodal postoperative analgesia following total hip arthroplasty is recommended, but the optimal combination of drugs remains uncertain. The aim of the RECIPE trial was to investigate the relative benefit and harm of the different combinations of paracetamol, ibuprofen, and the analgesic adjuvant dexamethasone for treatment of postoperative pain following total hip arthroplasty.

Aim: This study aimed to quantitatively summarise risk factors associated with surgical site infection (SSI) following surgically managed tibial fractures.

Method: We searched the Embase/Medline, Cochrane Library, and Scopus databases for relevant studies in October 2023. We included original studies investigating risk factors for SSI following surgically managed traumatic tibial fractures that included ≥10 adult patients with SSIs.

The Danish lung cancer registry: A nationwide validation study.

Background: This study evaluates the validity of the information in the Danish Lung Cancer Registry (DLCR). Since 2000, the DLCR has been a tool for monitoring interventions and outcome of all Danish lung cancer patients with the intent to streamline and improve treatment and survival. The DLCR receives information from the Danish Patient Registries in addition to clinical information from the treating physicians.

Background: Artificial intelligence models constitute specific uses of analysis results and, therefore, necessitate evaluation of analytical performance specifications (APS) for this context specifically. The Model of End-stage Liver Disease (MELD) is a clinical prediction model based on measurements of bilirubin, creatinine, and the international normalized ratio (INR). This study evaluates the propagation of error through the MELD, to inform choice of APS for the MELD input variables.

Developing a phantom for simulating robotic-assisted complete mesocolic excision using 3D printing and medical imaging.

Background: Robotic-assisted complete mesocolic excision is an advanced procedure mainly because of the great variability in anatomy. Phantoms can be used for simulation-based training and assessment of competency when learning new surgical procedures. However, no phantoms for robotic complete mesocolic excision have previously been described.

Establishing reference intervals for soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor in Northern European adults.

Objectives: Soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) may have untapped potential in clinical diagnostics. Previous studies determined reference intervals using an enzyme-linked immunoassay, but there is a need for reference intervals using a faster assay if the analysis is to be used in emergency medicine. The current study aims to determine reference intervals for suPAR using a fully automated particle-enhanced turbidimetric immunoassay (PETIA) according to the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute guideline A28-A3c.
