Background: Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-positron emission tomography/contrast-enhanced computed tomography (PET/CT) is a sensitive imaging modality for prostate cancer (PCa). Due to lack of knowledge of the patient benefit, PSMA-PET/CT is not yet recommended in the European guidelines for staging and treatment planning of patients with newly diagnosed PCa. We will investigate the potential difference in progression-free survival (PFS) and quality of life (QoL) of using PSMA-PET/CT versus sodium fluoride (NaF)-PET/CT for staging and treatment planning in patients with newly diagnosed PCa.

Background: Prosthetic joint infection (PJI) following total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a complication associated with increased risk of death. There is limited knowledge about the association between infection before THA, and risk of revision due to PJI. We investigated the association between any previous hospital-diagnosed or community-treated infection 0 to 6 months before primary THA and the risk of revision.

Background And Aim: Pan-enteric capsule endoscopy [PCE] is a highly sensitive but time-consuming tool for detecting pathology. Artificial intelligence [AI] algorithms might offer a possibility to assist in the review and reduce the analysis time of PCE. This study examines the agreement between PCE assessments aided by AI technology and standard evaluations, in patients suspected of Crohn's disease [CD].

To date, anal cancer patients are treated with radiotherapy to similar volumes despite a marked difference in risk profile based on tumor location and stage. A more individualized approach to delineation of the elective clinical target volume (CTVe) could potentially provide better oncological outcomes as well as improved quality of life. The aim of the present work was to establish Nordic Anal Cancer (NOAC) group guidelines for delineation of the CTVe in anal cancer.

Background And Aims: Intestinal ultrasound (IUS) performed by experts is a valuable tool for the diagnostic work-up and monitoring of Crohn's disease (CD). However, concern about insufficient training and perceived high inter-observer variability limit the adoption of IUS in CD. We examined the diagnostic accuracy of trainee-performed IUS in patients with suspected CD.

Introduction: The complement system, consisting of more than thirty different soluble and cell-bound proteins, exerts essential functions both in the innate and adaptive immune systems and is believed to be an important contributor to allograft injury in kidney transplantation. The anaphylatoxins C3a and C5a are powerful chemoattractants, recruiting immune effector cells toward the site of complement activation and enhance T-cell response, while C3dg binding to CR2 on B-cells, enhances B-cell immunity at several stages of the B-cell differentiation. Complement split products in plasma and urine could reflect ongoing inflammation and tissue injury.

Background: Several techniques exist for performing targeted axillary dissection (TAD) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy with the removal of the sentinel node and a marked metastatic lymph node (LN). Two-step methods include coil-marking of the metastatic LN at diagnosis and re-marking with an intraoperatively identifiable marker before surgery. Because nondetection of the marked lymph node (MLN) warrants axillary clearance and many patients achieve axillary pathological complete response (ax-pCR), the success of TAD is crucial.

To improve prostate cancer (PCa) diagnosis, it is imperative to identify novel biomarkers and establish effective screening techniques. Here, we introduce electrochemical biosensing of β-2-Microglobulin (β2M) in urine as a potential diagnostic tool for PCa. The immunosensor is composed of a screen-printed graphene electrode coated with anti β2M antibodies.

A highly virulent sub-lineage of the M1 clone has been rapidly expanding throughout Denmark since late 2022 and now accounts for 30% of the new invasive group A streptococcal infections. We aimed to investigate whether a shift in variant composition can account for the high incidence rates observed over winter 2022/23, or if these are better explained by the impact of COVID-19-related restrictions on population immunity and carriage of group A .

The pathophysiological development of Alzheimer's disease (AD) begins in the brain years before the onset of clinical symptoms. The accumulation of beta-amyloid (Aβ) is thought to be the first cortical pathology to occur. Carrying one apolipoprotein E (APOE) ε4 allele increases the risk of developing AD at least 2-3 times and is associated with earlier Aβ accumulation.

Lactate is produced in the human body during physical activity and elimination takes time with a half-life of approximately 18 min. We, therefore, investigated the potential impact of resting time (RT) duration on lactate concentration in our outpatient venipuncture clinic for all lactate requests during a 4½-year period. All samples drawn for venous lactate analysis during a 4½-year period in our hospital outpatient venipuncture clinics were included in this study.

Background: Anxiety in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is prevalent but often unidentified and therefore not adequately managed. Clinicians find it difficult to detect anxiety symptoms and to differentiate subclinical anxiety from anxiety disorders, because of the considerable overlap between symptoms of COPD and anxiety.
Purpose: We synthesized existing qualitative research on patients' experiences of COPD-related anxiety with the purpose of gaining a richer understanding and proposing a model of the construct.

Background And Purpose: The bearings with the best survivorship for young patients with total hip arthroplasty (THA) should be identified. We compared hazard ratios (HR) of revision of primary stemmed cementless THAs with metal-on-metal (MoM), ceramic-on-ceramic (CoC), and ceramic-on-highly-crosslinked-polyethylene (CoXLP) with that of metal-on-highly-crosslinked-polyethylene (MoXLP) bearings in patients aged 20-55 years with primary osteoarthritis or childhood hip disorders.
Patients And Methods: From the Nordic Arthroplasty Register Association dataset we included 1,813 MoM, 3,615 CoC, 5,947 CoXLP, and 10,219 MoXLP THA in patients operated on between 2005 and 2017 in a prospective cohort study.
