Distinct Substrates of Idiopathic Ventricular Fibrillation Revealed by Arrhythmia Characteristics on Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator.

JACC Clin Electrophysiol

September 2024

IHU Liryc, Electrophysiology and Heart Modeling Institute, Foundation Bordeaux Université, Bordeaux, France; Cardiac electrophysiology and stimulation, Cardiology Department, Bordeaux University Hospital (CHU), Pessac, France.

Background: Idiopathic ventricular fibrillation (IVF) can be associated with undetected distinct conditions such as microstructural cardiomyopathic alterations (MiCM) or Purkinje (Purk) activities with structurally normal hearts.

Objectives: This study sought to evaluate the characteristics of recurrent VF recorded on implantable defibrillator electrograms, associated with these substrates.

Methods: This was a multicenter collaboration study.

Association of Chorioamnionitis with Cerebral Palsy at Two Years after Spontaneous Very Preterm Birth: The EPIPAGE-2 Cohort Study.

J Pediatr

July 2020

Obstetrical, Perinatal and Pediatric Epidemiology Research Team, Center for Epidemiology and Statistics Sorbonne Paris Cité, INSERM U1153, Paris, France; Paris Descartes University, France; Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Hôpital Armand Trousseau, Sorbonne University, Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris, Paris, France.

Objective: To assess whether chorioamnionitis is associated with cerebral palsy (CP) or death at 2 years' corrected age in infants born before 32 weeks of gestation after spontaneous birth.

Study Design: EPIPAGE-2 is a national, prospective, population-based cohort study of children born preterm in France in 2011; recruitment periods varied by gestational age. This analysis includes infants born alive after preterm labor or preterm premature rupture of membranes from 24 to 31 weeks of gestation.

Article Synopsis
  • This study looked at how to tell if a baby might need another blood transfusion after getting one, by measuring a certain blood flow speed in the brain and checking how much their blood drops each day.
  • They studied 38 patients who had at least two transfusions and compared blood flow speeds before each transfusion with expected blood levels.
  • The researchers found that after the second transfusion, checking how much blood decreases was better for predicting problems than just looking at blood flow speeds, but they need to study more patients to be sure about their findings.

Objective: The objectives of the study are to describe the obstetric outcomes associated with massive perivillous fibrin deposition (MFD) compared with a control series and to determine if outcome differs according to the extent of fibrin deposition.

Method: Retrospective case-control study based on placentas analyzed over a consecutive 12-year period. MFD was considered severe if it extended over more than 50% of the placenta and moderate between 25% and 50%.

SALL4 has important functions in embryonic stem cells. The aim of this study was to investigate SALL4 expression in gestational trophoblastic neoplasia. We hypothesized that it could help to distinguish choriocarcinoma, the presumed most primitive form of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia, from placental site trophoblastic tumor and epithelioid trophoblastic tumor, which would be more differentiated variants.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is considered to be a promising method for treating various types of cancer. A homogeneous and reproducible illumination during clinical PDT plays a determinant role in preventing under- or over-treatment. The development of flexible light sources would considerably improve the homogeneity of light delivery.

There are no international guidelines for an appropriate and cost-effective follow-up for resected nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We retrospectively reviewed the outcome of NSCLC patients after curative surgery. Follow-up included physical examination and chest radiography every 3 months, and chest computed tomography (CT) scan, bronchoscopy, abdominal ultrasound, brain CT scan and bone scan every 6 months for 3 years, then every year over the following 2 years.

Background: Laser Assisted Skin Healing (LASH) was first introduced in 2001 by Capon and Mordon to prevent keloids and hypertrophic scars. LASH requires homogenous heating throughout the full thickness of the skin around the wound. However, LASH therapy with 808-nm diode laser is deemed to be only applicable for phototype I-IV due to melanin absorption.

Objective: This experimental study aimed to compare three illumination schemes to optimize hexaminolaevulinate (HAL)-PDT in a rat tumor model with advanced ovarian cancer.

Materials And Methods: Peritoneal carcinomatosis was induced by intraperitoneal 5×10(6)NuTu-19 cells injection in 60 female rats Fisher 344. Carcinomatosis was obtained 50 days post-tumor induction.

Unlabelled: The potential of fluorescence diagnosis (FD) is still undeveloped in gynaecology. In order to diagnose and localize squamous intraepithelial lesion (SIL) of the cervix, a new method improving the low specificity of colposcopy, would be useful.

Objective: The goal of this study was to assess the feasability and safety of colposcopic FD of SIL after topicaly application of methyl aminolevulinate (MAL).

The goal of this study was to assess the interest of photodynamic diagnosis (PDD) for laparoscopic detection of peritoneal micro metastasis in ovarian carcinoma. Using an experimental animal model, intraperitoneal injection of aminolevulinic acid (ALA) and hexylester of aminolevulinic acid (He-ALA) were compared in order to improve laparoscopic detection of ovarian peritoneal carcinomatosis. Twenty-one 344 Fischer female rats received an intra peritoneal injection of 106 NuTu-19 cells.

Progressive dysphonia and acute respiratory failure: revealing a bronchogenic cyst.

Eur J Cardiothorac Surg

December 1997

Clinique Chirurgicale Ouest, Albert Calmette Hospital, Lille University Hospital (CHRU de Lille), France.

We report the case of a 17-year old girl presenting a 3-month history of progressive dysphonia, and ultimately acute respiratory failure. CT scan and bronchoscopy showed severe extrinsic compression of the carina and of the left main stem bronchus. Emergency thoracotomy was performed permitting complete resection of an intra mural oesophageal bronchogenic cyst.
