Background: Anterior knee pain (AKP) and patello-femoral crepitus (PFCr) continue to plague total knee arthroplasty patients despite advances and modifications to implant design and surgical techniques. We present our study of the femoral trochlear length measurement preimplantation and postimplantation and its association with AKP/PFCr and clinical scores.

Methods: Using computer navigation, we obtained several measurements in 263 total knee arthroplasty (posterior-stabilized) patients, which included femoral native trochlear measurement (NTM) and difference in trochlear length between implant and native trochlea.

Introduction Obstructive Airway Diseases (OADs) are the leading cause of death among chronic respiratory diseases worldwide, and novel therapies are direly needed. Fluticasone furoate/vilanterol (FF/Vi) (100/25 µg) is the first once-daily ICS/uLABA marketed in India for COPD since 2021. Considering its limited real-world experience in OAD patients in Indian clinical settings, a large drug utilization study (DUS) was planned.

Objective: The authors reviewed their scientific publications and updated their clinical material obtained over the last 12 years for cases of central or axial atlantoaxial dislocation (CAAD) identified in the presence of craniovertebral musculoskeletal and/or neural alteration(s). The management implications of diagnosing and treating CAAD are highlighted.

Methods: During a 12-year period, CAAD was diagnosed in 393 patients with craniovertebral junction-related musculoskeletal and neural alterations who underwent atlantoaxial fixation.

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is an important risk factor for adverse outcomes following acute myocardial infarction (AMI), but large-scale studies investigating the differential impact of Type 1 DM (T1DM) and Type 2 DM (T2DM) on AMI outcomes are lacking.

Methods: All adult discharges for AMI in the National Inpatient Sample (October 2015 to December 2018) were included and stratified into T1DM, T2DM and non-DM (NDM) groups. Outcomes of interests were all-cause mortality, major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE), major bleeding and acute ischemic stroke, as well as invasive management.

A detailed knowledge of the surgical anatomy of tributaries of the superior mesenteric vein, especially proximal jejunal venous anatomy (first jejunal vein and jejunal trunk), is a key prerequisite for performing a safe pancreatico-duodenectomy. However, the available literature on the anatomical course and surgical relevance of these vessels is scarce, the nomenclature across the articles is heterogeneous, and the resulting evidence is confusing to interpret. Standardized terminology and an in-depth review of these vessels with regard to their course, termination, vascular relations, and variations will help the surgeons in planning and performing this complex surgery safely, especially when a venous resection and reconstruction is planned in cases of borderline resectable pancreatic cancer.

Aim: To compare the clinical efficacy and safety of glargine-U100 (Lantus/Gla-100) with glargine-U300 (Toujeo/Gla-300) in adult patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Materials And Methods: A literature search on Gla-300/Gla-100 in diabetes management was conducted using the MEDLINE/Embase/Cochrane databases from inception to 10 January 2021. Eligible studies considered for inclusion were parallel-design, randomized controlled trials (RCTs).

Introduction: There are limited data on the real-world management of diabetes in the Indian population. In this 2-year analysis of the LANDMARC study, the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and related complications were assessed.

Method: This multicenter, observational, prospective study included adults aged ≥25 to ≤60 years diagnosed with T2DM (duration ≥2 years at enrollment) and controlled/uncontrolled on ≥2 anti-diabetic agents.

Keeping up with the global scenario, diabetes prevalence is on rise in India. Inadequate glycemic control is a major cause of diabetes-related morbidity and mortality. The conventional standards of care (SOC) in diabetes, including self-monitoring of blood glucose and measurement of glycated hemoglobin, have supported achievement of glycemic control, yet there are a few limitations.

Article Synopsis
  • Infertility is a global issue affecting about 186 million people, with male factors contributing to around half of all cases, indicating a growing prevalence of male infertility over the past 40 years.
  • The field of Andrology, which focuses on male reproductive health, has faced challenges due to cultural neglect regarding male partners in infertility diagnosis and treatment, and reliance on assisted reproductive techniques (ART) may overlook the importance of male gamete quality.
  • Recent advancements in Andrology, including research on genetics, oxidative stress, and innovative technologies like artificial intelligence and gene engineering, highlight a critical need for further studies to better understand male infertility and improve ART outcomes.

Purpose: Systematic reviews and meta-analyses (SRMAs) are used to generate evidence-based guidelines. Although the number of SRMAs published in the literature has increased dramatically in the last decade, the training and the experience of the researchers performing the SRMAs are usually not explained in the SRMAs' methodology, and this may be a source of bias. Although some studies pointed out the need for quality control of SRMAs and training in proper statistical methods, to the best of our knowledge, no study has reported the importance of training the researchers that conduct the SRMAs.
