To assess the prescribing patterns and response to different classes of antihyperglycemic agents in novel clusters of type 2 diabetes (T2D) described in India. We attempted to replicate the earlier described clusters of T2D, in 32,867 individuals with new-onset T2D (within 2 years of diagnosis) registered between October 2013 and December 2020 at 15 diabetes clinics located across India, by means of k-means clustering utilizing 6 clinically relevant variables. Individuals who had follow-up glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) up to 2 years were included for the drug response analysis ( = 13,247).

Aim: To report on glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) values among individuals with normal glucose tolerance (NGT) at different age groups, using data acquired from a large national survey in India.

Materials And Methods: Data on glycaemic parameters at different age groups were obtained from the Indian Council of Medical Research-INdia DIABetes (ICMR-INDIAB) study, in adults aged ≥ 20 years representing all parts of India. Age-wise distribution of HbA1c was assessed among individuals with NGT (n = 14,222) confirmed by an oral glucose tolerance test using the World Health Organization (WHO) criteria.

Acute undifferentiated febrile illnesses (AUFIs) are associated with specific characterizations like fever of less than two weeks' duration with no organ-specific symptoms at onset. These range from mild and self-limiting disease to progressive, life-threatening illness. Acute undifferentiated febrile illnesses are classified into malaria and non-malarial illnesses on the basis of microscopy or malariadiagnostic tests.

Background: Although safe practice guidelines were issued by the Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of India (OSSI) in the end of May 2020, surgeons have been in a dilemma about risk of subjecting patients to hospitalisation and bariatric surgery. This survey was conducted with the objective to evaluate the risk of coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) infection in peri- and post-operative period after bariatric and metabolic surgery (BMS).

Methods: A survey with OSSI members was conducted from 20 July 2020 to 31 August 2020 in accordance with EQUATOR guidelines.

The results of the ATPCI (efficAcy and safety of Trimetazidine in patients with angina pectoris treated by Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) study showed no significant difference in the incidence of primary endpoint events between trimetazidine and the placebo group in angina patients who recently underwent percutaneous coronary intervention. The study had limitations specific to the design and selection of the target patient population. However, safety outcomes for trimetazidine were reconfirmed in this study.

Introduction: The majority of Indian women have a poor dietary folate and vitamin B intake resulting in their chronically low vitamin status, which contributes to anaemia and the high incidence of folate-responsive neural-tube defects (NTDs) in India. Although many countries have successfully deployed centrally-processed folate-fortified flour for prevention of NTDs, inherent logistical problems preclude widespread implementation of this strategy in India. Because tea-the second most common beverage worldwide (after water)-is consumed by most Indians every day, and appeared an ideal vehicle for fortification with folate and vitamin B, we determined if daily consumption of vitamin-fortified tea for 2 months could benefit young women of childbearing-age in Sangli, India.

Tight glycemic control has been recognised as the cornerstone of modern diabetes management. Until recently, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) was the only reliable tool for measuring glycemic control, but it is not an ideal metric as it is retrospective, unable to pick up hypo- and hyperglycemic excursions and prone to interference by conditions such as anemia and hemoglobinopathies. The advent of continuous glucose monitoring systems is a giant leap in diabetes management as it enables visualisation of glucose trends over periods of time, helping in identification of hypo- and hypoglycemic events and enabling appropriate treatment decisions to be made.
