Liquid biopsy provides non-invasive and real-time detection for cancer diagnosis, but the lack of specific markers targeted to liquid biopsy components, such as circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and exosomes, has impeded its effective utilization in clinical settings. W3 is an aptamer, and its target has been previously demonstrated to be a predictor of colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis. Herein, we developed a W3-based molecular beacon (MAB-W3-3G) to specifically detect CTCs and exosomes derived from CRC patients by modifying the W3 sequence and adding a fluorescent group FAM at the 5' end and a quencher group BHQ1 at the 3' end, resulting in a detectable green fluorescence only in the presence of the target.

Computed tomography (CT) has been the most effective modality for characterizing and quantifying chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Radiomics features extracted from the region of interest in chest CT images have been widely used for lung diseases, but they have not yet been extensively investigated for COPD. Therefore, it is necessary to understand COPD from the lung radiomics features and apply them for COPD diagnostic applications, such as COPD stage classification.

Growth arrest and DNA damage-inducible protein 34 (GADD34) contributes to cerebral ischemic injury and can be detected in plasma exosomes.

Neurosci Lett

July 2021

Department of Neurobiology and Key Laboratory of Neurodegenerative Diseases of Liaoning Province, Jinzhou Medical University, Jinzhou, Liaoning, China. Electronic address:

Growth arrest and DNA damage-inducible protein 34 (GADD34), one of the key effectors of negative feedback loops, is induced by stress and subsequently attempts to restore homeostasis. It plays a critical role in response to DNA damage and endoplasmic reticulum stress. GADD34 has opposing effects on different stimulus-induced cell apoptosis events in many nervous system diseases, but its role in ischemic stroke is unclear.

Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education for Traditional Chinese Medicine Visera-State Theory and Application, Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shenyang, China.

Article Synopsis
  • * Key findings indicated that pulmonary function was positively correlated with flow-mediated dilation (FMD) and nitric oxide (NO), while negatively correlated with endothelin-1 (ET-1) and diabetes duration/HbA1c levels.
  • * The results suggest that T2DM patients experience subclinical impairment in both vascular and pulmonary functions, highlighting the importance of managing blood sugar levels to potentially improve these functions.
