To investigate the plasma levels of thrombin activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI), plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) and tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and their relationship with deep venous thrombosis of the lower limbs. A case-control study was conducted to retrospectively select 32 SLE patients with deep venous thrombosis of the lower extremities (thrombus group) admitted to Liaocheng People's Hospital in Shandong Province from June 2018 to June 2021, including 4 males and 28 females, with a mean age of (49.7±5.

Abnormal proliferation of airway smooth muscle cells (ASMCs) leads to airway remodeling and the development of asthma. This study aimed to assess whether mitochondrial ATP-sensitive K+ (mitoK) channels regulated the proliferation of ASMCs by regulating the phosphoinositide 3-kinase/protein kinase B (PI3K/AKT) pathway in asthmatic rats. Forty-eight Sprague Dawley rats were immunized with ovalbumin-containing alum to establish the asthma models.

The transcription factor nuclear factor erythroid-2 related factor 2 (Nrf2) is a dominant manager to inhibit oxidative and inflammatory damage. Fenretinide (Fen) is a novel agent, showing significant role in regulating oxidative stress and inflammatory response. However, its effects on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced brain injury are still unclear.

SP1 induced long non-coding RNA LINC00958 overexpression facilitate cell proliferation, migration and invasion in lung adenocarcinoma via mediating miR-625-5p/CPSF7 axis.

Cancer Cell Int

January 2020

3Department of Respiratory Medicine, Xinhua Hospital, School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiaotong University, No. 1665 Kongjiang Road, Yangpu District, Shanghai, 200092 China.

Background: Increasing evidences have underlined the importance of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in human malignancies. LINC00958 has been found involved in some cancers. However, the underlying mechanical performance of LINC00958 in lung adenocarcinoma (LAD) has not been explored yet.

Background And Objective: Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) have been hypothesized as the etiologic factors of diabetic periodontitis. The discovery of incretins (including GLP-1 and GIP) provides a novel therapy for the treatment of diabetes. Recent reports have shown that glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is an important modulator of bone growth and remodeling.

Background: To compare the safety and efficacy of topical anesthesia versus retrobulbar anesthesia in 27-gauge pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) for vitreous floaters.

Methods: 30 patients with vitreous floaters were randomized into Group T (topical anesthesia, proparacaine eye drop) and Group R (retrobulbar anesthesia), and underwent 27-gauge PPV. A 5-point visual analogue pain scale (VAPS) was used to assess patients' pain experience of anesthesia and surgery procedure (during surgery, 2 h and 1 day after surgery).

Our previous study demonstrated that short hairpin RNA (shRNA) targeting of C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 () significantly inhibited cell proliferation, metastasis and invasion. On the basis of these results, the aim of the present study was to determine the effects of shRNA-CXCR4 silencing on mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling in human SW626 ovarian cancer cells. Following silencing the gene with shRNA, the mRNA expression of apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 (ASK1) was determined using the reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction, whereas the protein expression of extracellular-signal-regulated kinase (ERK)1/2 and phosphorylated (p)-c-Jun were determined using immunocytochemistry and western blotting.

Background: Studies indicate that nicotinic acid and related compounds may decrease phosphorus concentrations effectively by reducing the absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. However, the efficacy and safety of oral niacin treatments have only been investigated in a limited number of small-scale studies.

Methods: We performed this meta-analysis by pooling 12 qualified relevant preclinical and clinical trials to evaluate the association of nicotinic acid (and its related compounds) treatment and hyperphosphatemia among dialysis patients.

The application and clinical significance of carbon nanoparticle lymph tracer in the VI region (central region) lymph node dissection of differentiated thyroid cancer was investigated. Eighty patients with differentiated thyroid cancer were equally divided into the carbon nanoparticle-marked group (ipsilateral thyroid injection) and the control group (no injection). All patients underwent standard primary tumor treatment and VI lymph node dissection.
