Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) poses a significant health challenge worldwide, primarily due to late-stage diagnosis and the limited effectiveness of current therapies. Cancer stem cells are known to play a role in tumor development, metastasis, and resistance to treatment. A thorough understanding of genes associated with stem cells is crucial for improving the diagnostic precision of LIHC and for the advancement of effective immunotherapy approaches.

Sepsis triggers severe inflammatory responses leading to organ dysfunction and demands early diagnostic and therapeutic intervention. This study identifies differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in sepsis patients using the Gene Expression Omnibus database to find potential diagnostic and therapeutic markers. We analyzed the dataset GSE123731 via GEO2R to detect DEGs, constructed protein-protein interaction networks, and performed transcription factor analyses using Cytoscape.

Probiotics have been used as an adjunct therapy for NAFLD, but the mechanism is not clear. This study used BL19 (BL-19) to treat the NAFLD mice induced by a high-fat diet, and explored the treatment mechanism through gut microbiota and serum metabolomics techniques.

Background: Senna leaf is a commonly used medication for treating constipation, and long-term use can cause damage to the intestinal mucosa and lead to drug dependence. But the exact mechanism remains unclear.
Objective: Using non-targeted metabolomics technology to study the mechanism of senna leaf ethanol extract (EESL) inducing inflammation and oxidative stress in mice and causing side effects.

Background: Some challenges still exist with single-target B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies due to variable or negative BCMA expression, although they have yielded remarkable efficacy in relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. We developed anti-BCMA/GPRC5D bispecific CARs to mitigate the limitations and potentiate the functions of CAR T cells.
Methods: This single-arm, phase 1 trial was conducted at the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University (Xuzhou, China).

Objective: To investigate the effectiveness, safety, and related prognostic factors of the treatment of follicular lymphoma (FL) with a regimen containing Bendamustine.
Methods: The clinical data of 129 FL patients who were treated with Bendamustine containing regimen were collected from January 1,2020 to October 30,2022 in the Hematology Department of Lianyungang Second People's Hospital and Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital. The patients were divided into three groups: Bendamustine plus Rituximab (BR), Bendamustine plus Obinutuzumab (GB), Rituximab + Cyclophosphamide + Epirubicin / Doxorubicin + Vindesine + Prednisone (R-CHOP).

Electrospun nanofibers have been widely employed in bone tissue engineering for their ability to mimic the micro to nanometer scale network of the native bone extracellular matrix. However, the dense fibrous structure and limited mechanical support of these nanofibers pose challenges for the treatment of critical size bone defects. In this study, we propose a facile approach for creating a three-dimensional scaffold using interconnected electrospun nanofibers containing melatonin (Scaffold@MT).

Background: Identification of the causes of stroke of undetermined etiology, specifically cardioembolism (CE) and non-CE causes, can inform treatment planning and prognosis prediction. The objective of this study was to analyze the disparities in thrombus composition, particularly Semaphorin-7A (Sema7A) and CD163, between patients diagnosed with large-artery atherosclerosis (LAA) and those with CE, and to investigate their potential association with prognosis.
Methods: Thrombi were collected from patients who underwent mechanical thrombectomy at two hospitals.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is one of the most common malignant cancers. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) have been discovered to play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of LUAD. We aimed to establish an innovative prognostic model for LUAD based on the distinct expression patterns of NETs-related genes.

Enterococcus faecium is responsible for a highly contagious, drug-resistant nosocomial infection that often causes serious illness. In this study, a rapid and sensitive RPA-LFS (recombinase polymerase amplification-lateral flow strip) method for the detection of E. faecium was established based on specific primers and probes designed using the ddl gene.

BACKGROUND Combined retinal and choroidal detachment (RD-CD) poses significant challenges in ophthalmic treatment, often requiring surgical intervention for optimal outcomes. The selection of the appropriate surgical procedure is crucial for ensuring visual restoration and overall eye health. This study delves into the therapeutic benefits and outcomes of two distinct surgical approaches for RD-CD: pneumatic retinopexy (PR) followed by pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) and PPV alone, in an attempt to guide optimal clinical decision-making.

Background And Purpose: Previous studies demonstrated that elevated brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) level is associated with adverse clinical outcomes of acute cerebral infarction (ACI). Researchers hypothesized that BNP might be a potential neuroprotective factor against cerebral ischemia because of the antagonistic effect of the natriuretic peptide system on the renin-angiotensin system and regulation of cardiovascular homeostasis. However, whether decreasing the BNP level can improve the prognosis of ACI has not been studied yet.

Purpose: Many patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) cannot undergo thrombolysis or thrombectomy because they have missed the time window or do not meet the treatment criteria. In addition, there is a lack of an available tool to predict the prognosis of patients with standardized treatment. This study aimed to develop a dynamic nomogram to predict the 3-month poor outcomes in patients with AIS.

Staphylococcus epidermidis is an opportunistic pathogenic microorganism that is an important cause of cross-infection in hospitals. The development of rapid and effective detection techniques is important for its control. The application of traditional identification and PCR-based methods is limited by their requirements for both laboratory instrumentation and trained personnel.
