Background: Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) has been widely explored and considered as a biomarker for adverse cardiovascular events. However, the relationships between TMAO adverse cardiovascular events are inconsistent in patients. Therefore, this meta-analysis aimed to estimate association between TMAO levels and the prognosis of patients with myocardial infarction (MI).

Homeobox (HOX) C9, a member of the HOX family, is an important transcription factor, and it plays a significant role in various biological processes. This family of genes is highly valued for their essential roles in establishing and maintaining the body axis during embryonic development and adult tissues. Further, HOXC9 plays a central role in neuronal differentiation, angiogenesis, and adipose distribution, which are essential for the development of the nervous system, maturation of tissues and organs, and maintenance of energy balance and metabolic health.

Efficacy of bevacizumab combined with apatinib in the treatment of advanced metastatic gastric cancer.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of bevacizumab combined with apatinib in the treatment of advanced metastatic gastric cancer, providing insights for treatment decisions.

Methods: We conducted a single-center retrospective study involving patients with metastatic gastric cancer treated with apatinib, with or without bevacizumab, between August 2018 and April 2021 at Nanchang Medical College. Data on efficacy, adverse events, response rates, and quality of life were collected and compared.

TSPAN4 influences glioblastoma progression through regulating EGFR stability.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is characterized by high morbidity, mortality, and low cure rates. Recent studies suggest that TSPAN4 is recognized as a marker protein for migrasomes, a vesicular organelle associated with cell migration. However, the intrinsic role of TSPAN4 in cancers has not been clarified, especially in GBM.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are minute sacs released by cells into the extracellular milieu, harboring an array of biomolecules including proteins, nucleic acids, and lipids. Notably, a large number of studies have demonstrated the important involvement of EVs in both physiological and pathological aspects of renal function. EVs can facilitate communication between different renal cells, but it is important to recognize their dual role: they can either transmit beneficial information or lead to renal damage and worsening of existing conditions.

Introduction: The Agatston coronary artery calcification score (CACS) is an assessment index for coronary artery calcification (CAC). This study aims to explore the characteristics of CAC in end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) patients and establish a predictive model to assess the risk of severe CAC in patients.

Methods: CACS of ESKD patients was assessed using an electrocardiogram-gated coronary computed tomography (CT) scan with the Agatston scoring method.

Colistin monotherapy or combination for the treatment of bloodstream infection caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Bloodstream infection of Klebsiella pneumoniae (BSI-KP) were associated with increased mortality. Klebsiella pneumoniae was tested to susceptible to colistin by E-test and broth microdilution method in clinical laboratory. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of colistin versus tigecycline, carbapenem monotherapy and combination in the treatment of BSI-KP.

[Metformin alleviates pathologic pain in mice with radiation dermatitis by inhibiting p38MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway].

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of metformin on pathological pain in mice with radiation dermatitis and explore the underlying mechanism.

Methods: Thirty-two male adult ICR mice were randomized into normal control group, radiation dermatitis model group, metformin treatment (200 mg/kg) group and gabapentin (100 mg/kg) group (=8).In the latter two groups, metformin treatment was administered after modeling via intraperitoneal injection and gabapentin by gavage on a daily basis for 16 days; the mice in the control group and model group received intraperitoneal injection of normal saline.

Astragaloside IV has been suggested to rescue the pathological impact of CAFs in gastric cancer. This study aimed to investigate the potential mechanism of astragaloside IV in the regulation of CAF pathological functions in gastric cancer development.

Although ozone, a strong oxidant, has significant antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, its effectiveness in treating malignant liver ascites is unclear. We first measured the levels of NETs in the peripheral blood of patients with liver cancer and healthy individuals.

Background: High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) seriously threatens the health of people at high altitudes. There are drug treatments for HAPE, and dry powder formulations (DPFs) represent a rapid and accessible delivery vehicle for these drugs. However, there are presently no reports on the inhalability of DPFs in low-pressure environments.

Background: Cognitive impairment is a common sequela following traumatic brain injury (TBI). This study aimed to identify risk factors for cognitive impairment after 3 and 12 months of TBI and to create nomograms to predict them.

Methods: A total of 305 mild-to-moderate TBI patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital with Nanjing Medical University from January 2018 to January 2022 were retrospectively recruited.

[Expression of MSI1 and HER2 in mammary Paget's disease and their correlation with clinicopathological features and prognosis].

To investigate the expression of MSI1 and HER2 in mammary Paget's disease, and the correlation between the expression levels of MSI1 and HER2 and the clinicopathologic characteristics and prognosis of the patients. Clinical data and paraffin-embedded specimens of 34 pairs of mammary Paget's disease and underlying breast cancer were collected at the Department of Pathology, Affiliated Lianyungang Oriental Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University from March 2011 to December 2019. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of MSI1 and HER2 in mammary Paget's disease and the accompanying breast cancer, and to analyze the correlation between the expression levels of MSI1 and HER2 and their clinicopathologic features, as well as their influence on prognosis.

Methods: Pan-cancer analysis was used to validate the value of Dehydrogenase/Reductase 2 (DHRS2) as a tumor prognostic marker in various tumors. The relationship of DHRS2 to TMB and MSI was used to explain the effect of DHRS2 on genomic instability.

Circadian Rhythm Disturbance in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients and Its Effect on Prognosis.

Introduction: Poststroke sleep disturbances are common and can affect stroke outcomes, but the clinical studies mainly focus on breathing-related sleep disorders, while the bidirectional impact of circadian rhythm dysfunction in ischemic stroke remains unknown. This study observed the characteristics of melatonin secretion in acute ischemic stroke patients and evaluated whether melatonin rhythm impacts the prognosis after stroke by assessing the neurological function, cognition, emotion, and quality of life 3 months after stroke.

Methods: Acute ischemic stroke patients were selected from the Department of Neurology Inpatients of the Second Hospital affiliated with Soochow University from October 2019 to July 2021.
