In China, some rural parents do not live together with their children because they migrate to urban regions for work, and therefore they sometimes use a mobile phone in parenting their left-behind children (LBC), who are living with grandparents. This study used a serial mediation model to test the mediating roles of distant mothering and post-separation mother-child relationship quality in the link between recalled pre-separation mother-child relationship quality and social-emotional adjustment of 3-to-6-year-old LBC living in a rural context in China. Cross-sectional questionnaire data were collected from 185 triads, consisting of grandparents (rating child adjustment), migrant mothers (rating mother-child relationship qualities and distant mothering), and preschool teachers (rating child adjustment).

Background/objectives: Prematurely born individuals are at risk for developing socio-emotional difficulties and psychopathologies such as autism spectrum disorder. Particular difficulties processing social information conveyed by the face may underlie these vulnerabilities.

Methods: This comprehensive review provides an overview of 27 studies published between 2000 and mid-2022 concerning face processing in individuals born preterm and/or born with low birth weight across different age ranges, paradigms, and outcome measures.

Methods: Echo planar DW sequences acquired before and during (chemo)radiotherapy (CRT) of 178 patients with histologically proven OPC were prospectively analyzed. The volumetric region of interest (ROI) was manually drawn on the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) map, and 105 DW-MRI radiomic parameters were extracted.

Donor-derived cell-free DNA in chronic lung allograft dysfunction phenotypes: a pilot study.

Long-term survival after lung transplantation is limited due to chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD), which encompasses two main phenotypes: bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS) and restrictive allograft syndrome (RAS). Donor-derived cell-free DNA (dd-cfDNA) is a biomarker for (sub)clinical allograft injury and could be a tool for monitoring of lung allograft health across the (pre)clinical spectrum of CLAD. In this proof-of-concept study, we therefore assessed post-transplant plasma dd-cfDNA levels in 20 CLAD patients (11 BOS and 9 RAS) at three consecutive time points free from concurrent infection or acute rejection, during stable condition, preclinical CLAD, and established CLAD ( = 3 × 20 samples).

Belgium has a vibrant health eco-system, with world-class universities and hospitals, and a strong presence of pharmaceutical companies, resulting in a substantial contribution to drug development and a high number of clinical trials. This study presents a comprehensive evaluation of Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS) solar technology, benchmarked against crystalline silicon (c-Si) PERC PV technology. Utilizing a newly developed energy yield model, we analyzed the performance of CIGS in various environmental scenarios, emphasizing its behavior in low-light conditions and under different temperature regimes. The model demonstrated high accuracy with improved error metrics of normalized mean bias error (nMBE) ~ 1% and normalized root mean square error (nRMSE) of  ~ 8%-20% in simulating rack mounted setup and integrated PV systems.

Laser-Induced Metal-Organic Framework-Derived Flexible Electrodes for Electrochemical Sensing.

The successful development of a metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived Co/CoO/C core-shell composite integrated into laser-induced graphitic (LIG) carbon electrodes for electrochemical sensing is reported. The sensors are fabricated via a direct laser scribing technique using a UV laser (355 nm wavelength) to induce the photothermolysis of rationally selected ZIF-67 into the LIG matrix. Electrochemical characterization reveals that the incorporation of the laser-scribed ZIF-67-derived composite on the electrode surface reduces the impedance more than 100 times compared with bare LIG sensors.

Aims: Atrial septal defect (ASD) and partial abnormal pulmonary venous connection (PAPVC) are noncyanotic congenital heart defects (CHD) that produce a left-to-right shunt. This single-center retrospective study aimed to assess the hemodynamic impact of isolated ASD, isolated PAPVC, and ASD-associated PAPVC using cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR).

Methods And Results: From our CMR registry (2002-2024), 110 patients were included: isolated ASD (n=64), isolated PAPVC (n=18), ASD-associated PAPVC (n=28, mostly sinus venosus septal defects).

Association of radiation-induced normal tissue toxicity with a high genetic risk for rheumatoid arthritis.

Purpose: Overlapping genes are involved with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and DNA repair pathways. Therefore, we hypothesised that patients with a high polygenic risk score (PRS) for RA will have an increased risk of radiotherapy (RT) toxicity given the involvement of DNA repair.

Methods: Primary analysis was performed on 1494 prostate cancer, 483 lung cancer and 1820 breast cancer patients assessed for development of RT toxicity in the REQUITE study.
