Laboratory of Nanosystems and Drug Delivery Devices (NanoSYS), School of Pharmacy, Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG), Rua 240, Setor Leste Universitário, 74, 605-170 Goiânia, GO, Brazil.

Article Synopsis
  • Developed water-based formulations for treating onychomycosis using micelles with α-cyclodextrin to enhance terbinafine delivery to the nail.
  • Characterized formulations showed significant improvements in drug solubilization, particle size, and blood compatibility, with PPRs demonstrating solid-like viscoelastic properties.
  • The RH40:GEL +10% αCD formulation was particularly effective, delivering twice the amount of terbinafine to deeper nail regions compared to other formulations.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to establish sex and population-specific normative data and cutoff values for the Muscle Quality Index (MQI), which measures muscle strength relative to muscle mass, using data from a large, representative sample of adults aged 20-59.
  • Data from 4,849 participants were analyzed, assessing handgrip strength and appendicular skeletal muscle mass to calculate MQI, with cutoff values defined based on a younger reference group to identify low and extremely low MQI levels.
  • Results indicated that MQI values varied by sex and ethnicity, with men generally having lower MQI than women and variations among racial groups, notably higher MQI for non-Hispanic Asians compared to non-H

Aims: Cardiovascular risk factors present a high prevalence and have an impact on the morbimortality of the elderly; however, studies evaluating the impact of cardiovascular risk factors in the elderly have had short follow-up times and have not allowed specific analyses of the effects of these factors in the aged population, including how they affect the survival of the elderly. This study aimed to analyse the survival of elderly individuals living in the community, considering the presence of cardiovascular risk factors.

Methods And Results: A prospective 10-year follow-up was initiated in 2008 with a cohort of 418 elderly people living in a community in Central Brazil.

Escuela de Enfermeria de la Facultad de Medicina y Ciencias de La Salud, Universidad de Barcelona. Barcelona Espanha.

Violence against teachers is a global concern and has a negative impact on the development of society. In this context, this study aimed to review definitions of violence against teachers to develop an integrated consensus and conceptual model. A scoping review of the literature was carried out to include articles that could answer the guiding question of the study: "What are the definitions and dimensions of student violence against teachers in teaching?" The studies included in the review, it was identified that violence against the teacher can be defined as a set of actions and situations caused by students in an insidious or chronic way in the workplace and/or through digital medium, mediated by the perception of violence, the copping mechanism of the teacher and the organizational management of the violence.

Background/objectives: An increase in fat mass is accompanied by a loss of muscle mass and function in chronic kidney disease. However, no studies in haemodialysis (HD) patients have investigated the relationship between fat mass and sarcopenia. The primary aim of this study is to assess the prevalence of sarcopenia, while the secondary aim is to verify the association between the fat mass percentage and SARC-F and SARC-F combined with calf circumference (SARC-F+CC) in elderly HD patients.

Hexachlorobenzene (HCB) is a pollutant still found in the environment despite being widely banned. Considering that basidiomycetes are useful to degrade a variety of organochlorinated pollutants, we therefore report the influence of HCB on the ligninolytic enzymatic system of Deconica castanella. The inoculum was prepared with sugarcane bagasse and soybean flour and was added in soil with and without HCB (2000 mg kg soil ), 5% emulsion containing soybean oil and Tween 20 at proportion 9:1, v:v; with 70% moisture at 25°C.
