Objective: Plant-based diets (PBD) are generally promoted as beneficial for health. However, whether this is also the case at older ages, when energy deficits, muscle loss and frailty affect health, is unclear. Research has shown that among older adults, particularly in men, a healthful PBD is associated with a lower frailty risk.

Synovial sarcoma is an aggressive soft-tissue cancer that shows limited responses to current immunotherapeutic approaches using immune checkpoint blockade or adoptive cell therapy. To improve immunotherapy for this cancer, understanding how the immune cells in the tumor microenvironment associate with histological subtype, disease progression and current therapies is vital. To evaluate the immune infiltrate in synovial sarcoma in relation to histological subtype, disease progression and in response to cytotoxic treatment, we performed immunodetection of T cells, CD68 myeloid cells, endothelial cells and keratin on a series of 41 synovial sarcoma patients at various stages of disease.

Purpose: In this feasibility study, we aimed to create a dedicated pulmonary augmented reality (AR) workflow to enable a semi-automated intraoperative overlay of the pulmonary anatomy during video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) or robot-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS).
Methods: Initially, the stereoscopic cameras were calibrated to obtain the intrinsic camera parameters. Intraoperatively, stereoscopic images were recorded and a 3D point cloud was generated from these images.

Objective: Low estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) increases the risk of arterial diseases, possibly including abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). This study explored the relationship between eGFR (2008 CKD-EPI equation), annual eGFR decline, and subsequent risk of developing AAA in a large, community based sample.
Methods: This was an observational study using complete healthcare records of Stockholm residents free from AAA who underwent routine creatinine testing during 2011 - 2021.

The mycobacterial mutasome - comprising ImuA', ImuB, and DnaE2 - has been implicated in DNA damage-induced mutagenesis in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. ImuB, which is predicted to enable mutasome function via its interaction with the β clamp, is a catalytically inactive Y-family DNA polymerase. Like some other members of the Y-family, ImuB features a recently identified amino acid motif with homology to the RecA N-terminus (RecA-NT).

Health care is under pressure due to an aging population with an increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease. Smoking and physical inactivity are 2 key preventable risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Yet, as with most health behaviors, they are difficult to change.

Segmentation is a critical data processing step in many applications of cryo-electron tomography. Downstream analyses, such as subtomogram averaging, are often based on segmentation results, and are thus critically dependent on the availability of open-source software for accurate as well as high-throughput tomogram segmentation. There is a need for more user-friendly, flexible, and comprehensive segmentation software that offers an insightful overview of all steps involved in preparing automated segmentations.

The ancient cemetery of Pommerœul, Belgium, was classified as Gallo-Roman in the 1970s', yielding 76 cremation graves and one inhumation. However, subsequent radiocarbon analyses dated the inhumation to the Late Neolithic (4-3 millennium calBC). We report osteoarchaeological analysis indicating that the inhumation was composed of bones from multiple individuals, afterwards buried as "one".

Purpose: Out-of-school adolescent girls (OoSGs) can lack education on menstrual, sexual, reproductive, and mental health (SRMH) and be more vulnerable to SRMH harms. Targeted interventions could reduce these risks. We assessed interventions and their effectiveness among OoSGs globally.

We aim to enhance the reporting of complications in surgical operations by establishing a classification for patient complexity. Current comorbidity assessment tools are insufficient due to their reliance on physiological parameters. The proposed patient surgical class category (PSCC) aims to address these limitations and enhance results by incorporating relevant aspects of a patient's surgical history.

The aim of the committee is to monitor scientific evidence for a continuous quality and safety improvement of enhanced MRI using gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs), and also assess potential alternatives. The scope of the present article is to describe the level of evidence concerning safety beyond the single patient (access to community and environmental impact), justification and optimization of the use of GBCAs beyond dosage (appropriateness and influence on clinical decision making), dose reduction with the use of AI (benefits and pitfalls), the advent of next-generation GBCAs (based on currently available data).

Background: Donor livers from older donation after circulatory death (DCD) donors are frequently discarded for transplantation because of the high risk of graft failure. It is unknown whether DCD livers from older donors benefit from dynamic preservation.
Methods: In a multicenter study, we retrospectively compared graft and patient outcomes after transplantation of livers from DCD donors older than 60 y, preserved with either static cold storage (SCS), ex situ sequential dual hypothermic perfusion, controlled oxygenated rewarming, and normothermic perfusion (DHOPE-COR-NMP), or in situ abdominal normothermic regional perfusion (aNRP).

Background: This study aimed to assess the quantitative uptake of F-FDG PET-CT in the lungs of patients with early severe diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis (SSc) with and without interstitial lung disease (ILD), compared to controls. In patients with SSc-ILD, F-FDG uptake was correlated to high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) and pulmonary function test (PFT) parameters.
Methods: A prospective, cross-sectional study was conducted, involving 15 patients with SSc-ILD, 5 patients with SSc without ILD, and 7 controls without SSc.

Background: The Human Genome Variation Society (HGVS) Nomenclature is the global standard for describing and communicating variants in DNA, RNA, and protein sequences in clinical and research genomics. This manuscript details recent updates to the HGVS Nomenclature, highlighting improvements in governance, community engagement, website functionality, and underlying implementation of the standard.
Methods: The HGVS Variant Nomenclature Committee (HVNC) now operates under the Human Genome Organization (HUGO), facilitating broader community feedback and collaboration with related standards organizations.

Background: The occurrence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following a traumatic event is associated with biological differences that can represent the susceptibility to PTSD, the impact of trauma, or the sequelae of PTSD itself. These effects include differences in DNA methylation (DNAm), an important form of epigenetic gene regulation, at multiple CpG loci across the genome. Moreover, these effects can be shared or specific to both central and peripheral tissues.

Objectives: An update of the first European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) consensus on soft tissue tumor imaging in 2015 became necessary due to technical advancements, further insights into specific entities, and the revised WHO classification (2020) and AJCC staging system (2017). The third part of the revised guidelines covers algorithms and techniques beyond initial imaging: (1) Imaging after neoadjuvant therapy in soft tissue sarcoma, (2) sarcoma surveillance, and (3) special aspects, including surveillance of non-malignant entities and the role of interventional radiology.
Materials And Methods: A validated Delphi method based on peer-reviewed literature was used to derive consensus among a panel of 46 specialized musculoskeletal radiologists from 12 European countries.
