Background: Prior to this study, the moth flies in The Netherlands were represented by 61 species. Our findings derive from a citizen-science expedition in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam, one of the oldest public parks and best known parks in The Netherlands. The combination of citizen science and the exploration of a well-known urban park has allowed us to contribute to the knowledge of moth fly species present in The Netherlands.

Background: It is unclear whether findings from previous network analyses of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms among children and adolescents are generalizable to youth living in war-torn settings and whether there are differences in the structure and connectivity of symptoms between children and adolescents. This study examined the network structure of PTSD symptoms in a sample of war-affected youth and compared the symptom networks of children and adolescents.

Methods: The overall sample comprised 2007 youth (6-18 years old) living in Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Palestine, Tanzania, and Uganda amid or close to war and armed conflict.

Gaucher's disease, the most prevalent lysosomal storage disorder, is caused by missense mutation of the GBA gene, ultimately resulting in deficient GCase activity, hence the excessive build-up of cellular glucosylceramide. Among different therapeutic strategies, pharmacological chaperoning of mutant GCase represents an attractive approach that relies on small organic molecules acting as protein stabilizers. Herein, we expand upon a new class of transient GCase inactivators based on a reactive 2-deoxy-2-fluoro-β-d-glucoside tethered to an array of lipid-mimicking phosphorus-based aglycones, which not only improve the selectivity and inactivation efficiency, but also the stability of these compounds in aqueous media.

The limited volume of COVID-19 data from Africa raises concerns for global genome research, which requires a diversity of genotypes for accurate disease prediction, including on the provenance of the new SARS-CoV-2 mutations. The Virus Outbreak Data Network (VODAN)-Africa studied the possibility of increasing the production of clinical data, finding concerns about data ownership, and the limited use of health data for quality treatment at point of care. To address this, VODAN Africa developed an architecture to record clinical health data and research data collected on the incidence of COVID-19, producing these as human- and machine-readable data objects in a distributed architecture of locally governed, linked, human- and machine-readable data.
