In order to increase the limited knowledge of the plants' molecular response to this pathogen, we inoculated potatoes with AG3-PT isolate Ben3 and carried out RNA sequencing with total RNA extracted from potato sprouts at three and eight days post inoculation (dpi). In this dual RNA-sequencing experiment, the necrotrophic lifestyle of AG3-PT during early phases of interaction with its host has already been characterised.

Purpose: The purpose of this review is to give an overview on recently published articles investigating the associations of diet and dietary interventions with biomarkers of oxidative stress with special emphasis on different categories of redox biomarkers.
Findings: Intervention and observational studies both in healthy participants and patients that investigated associations of dietary habits, foodstuffs or isolated nutrients with biomarkers of oxidative stress were included in this review. Recently published observation studies confirm the inverse association between fruit and vegetable intake and oxidative stress markers.

Background: Tbx2 encodes a transcriptional repressor implicated in the development of numerous organs in mouse. During lung development TBX2 maintains the proliferation of mesenchymal progenitors, and hence, epithelial proliferation and branching morphogenesis. Ralstonia solanacearum biovar2-race3 (Rs r3b2) is an epidemic soil-borne bacterial phytopathogen causing brown rot disease in potato. In this study, we assessed how three soil types stored at the same field site influenced the proportion and diversity of bacterial isolates with in vitro antagonistic activity towards Rs in bulk soil and different potato plant spheres (rhizosphere, endorhiza and endocaulosphere; ecto- and endosphere of seed and yield tubers). In general, the plate counts observed for each sample type were not significantly different.

A better understanding of factors shaping the rhizosphere microbiota is important for sustainable crop production. We profiled the grain oligosaccharide content of 154 two-row spring barley genotypes and quantified 27 compounds, mainly inulin- and neoseries-type fructans, showing differential abundance. Clustering revealed two profile groups where the 'high' set contained greater amounts of sugar monomers, sucrose, and overall fructans, but lower fructosylraffinose. A genome-wide association study (GWAS) identified a significant association for the variability of two fructan types: neoseries-DP7 and inulin-DP9, which showed increased strength when applying a novel compound ratio-GWAS approach.

Dark septate endophytes (DSEs) represent a diverse group of root-endophytic fungi that have been isolated from plant roots in many different natural and anthropogenic ecosystems. Melanin is widespread in eukaryotic organisms and possesses various functions such as protecting human skin from UV radiation, affecting the virulence of pathogens, and playing a role in development and physiology of insects. Melanin is a distinctive feature of the cell walls of DSEs and has been thought to protect these fungi from abiotic stress.
