Introduction: Ovarian adenomyoma is a rare gynecological tumor with a high misdiagnosis rate, leading many patients to undergo unnecessary surgeries that may affect fertility. Menstrual abdominal pain is the most common symptom, and auxiliary examinations often cannot clarify its nature. It often relies on intraoperative diagnosis, and surgical resection can achieve good therapeutic effects.

Electronic address:

This study examined the removal and toxicity reduction of mixed pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs), including carbamazepine, erythromycin, gemfibrozil, and diclofenac, in the UV/HO tandem with biologically activated carbon (UV/HO-BAC) process and explored potential detoxification mechanisms. Results indicated that the combined process effectively removed the mixed PhACs, with the UV/HO segment being the primary contributor. As distinct from concentration removal, the effluent toxicity significantly increased after UV/HO treatment.

Previous studies have shown that nickel sulfate (NiSO) increases autophagy in thyroid cells and tissues. As an important organ of the endocrine system, the pancreas not only contributes to the exocrine function of digestion but also has the endocrine function of regulating blood sugar. However, it remains unknown whether NiSO increases pancreatic autophagy.

Isolation and identification of the causal agent of gummy stem blight disease in Cucumis sativus caused by a bacterial pathogen in China.

Sci Rep

January 2025

College of Plant Protection, Biocontrol Engineering Laboratory of Crop Diseases and Pests of Gansu Province, Gansu Agricultural University, Lanzhou, 730070, China.

Recently, a new bacterial disease was detected on cucumber stalks. In order to study the pathogenesis of this disease, the pathogenic bacteria were isolated and identified on the basis of morphological and molecular characteristics, and further analyzed for pathogenicity and antagonistic evaluation. Pathogenicity analysis showed that HlJ-3 caused melting decay and cracking in cucumber stems, and the strain reisolated from re-infected cucumber stalks was morphologically identical to HlJ-3 colonies, which is consistent with the Koch's postulates.

The development of mechanically robust super-lubrication hydrogel materials with sustained lubricity at high contact pressures is challenging. In this work, inspired by the durable lubricity feature of the earthworm epidermis, a multilevel structural super-lubrication hydrogel (MS-SLH) system, the so-called lubricant self-pumping hydrogel, is developed. The MS-SLH system is manufactured by chemically dissociating a double network hydrogel to generate robust and wrinkled lubrication layer, and then laser etching was used to generate cylindrical texture pores as gland-like pockets for storing lubricants.

Department of Anesthesiology, Fuwai Hospital, National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, Peking Union Medical College and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, No. 167, Beilishi Road, Xicheng District, China.

Background: Heparin, an anticoagulant used in cardiac surgery, can result in heparin rebound (HR), where it returns postoperatively despite being neutralized with protamine. This study was designed to investigate the prevalence of HR in patients undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) and evaluate the impact of HR on their short-term outcomes.

Methods: HR was defined by a 10% increase in activated coagulation time (ACT) following two hours of heparin neutralization with protamine, bleeding over 200 mL/h, and abnormal laboratory coagulation examination results.

Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Life Sciences, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, Gansu 730000, China. Electronic address:

Kisspeptins function as endogenous ligands for the G protein-coupled receptor GPR54. While the primary role of the Kisspeptin/GPR54 signaling pathway pertains to reproduction, several studies have shown that GPR54 is highly expressed in breast cancer, and we further confirmed this result that GPR54 expression is significantly upregulated in breast cancer cells. Based on this finding, we developed a liposomal drug delivery system utilizing the Kisspeptin/GPR54 system to treat breast cancer after confirming the safety of Kp-10-228.

The specific extraction of glabridin from licorice residues using molecular imprinting technique.

December 2024

School of Pharmacy, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou 730000, Gansu, China. Electronic address:

The large-scale production of glycyrrhizic acid inevitably generates a large amount of licorice residues waste, which contains a wealth of active ingredients, especially glabridin, a natural preservative. However, traditional extraction methods for glabridin are often limited by bottlenecks such as time-consuming, inefficient, and insufficient specificity. To overcome these challenges, this study innovatively introduced 2-phenylimidazole as a functional monomer by computer simulations and successfully developed magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MMIPs) for glabridin.

Nanofriction plays an important role in the performance and lifetime of n-type or p-type TMD-based semiconductor nanodevices. However, the mechanism of nanofriction in n-type and p-type TMD semiconductors under an electric field is still blurry. In this paper, monolayers of n-MoSe and p-WSe materials were prepared by chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and their nanofriction behavior under positive electric field was investigated.

The development of well-defined three-dimensional supramolecular polymers presents significant challenges, particularly in achieving crystalline state structures. This study addresses this challenge by presenting the construction of a crystalline three-dimensional supramolecular polymer through the self-assembly of clamparene () and a naphthalene diimide derivative () in the solid state. The hierarchical self-assembly progresses from one-dimensional linear supramolecular polymers to two-dimensional supramolecular polymers and ultimately to a crystalline three-dimensional supramolecular polymer.
