Twenty years of anastomotic stenosis combined with tracheocolonic fistula after colon replacement esophagectomy: a case report.

Esophageal stricture is the most common and disabling complication of esophageal injury caused by ingestion of corrosive substances. In our case, the patient developed esophageal stenosis due to ingestion of strong alkaline substances and underwent colon replacement surgery after repeated failed dilation treatments. After surgery, anastomotic stenosis and tracheocolonic fistula occurred successively, and the entire diagnosis and treatment cycle of this disease lasted for more than 20 years.

A middle lobe sparing sleeve resection versus bilobectomy for right lower central non-small cell lung cancer: a retrospective propensity score matched cohort study.

Objectives: The right lower sleeve lobectomy is a rarely performed major lung resection.This study aims to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of this procedure by comparing to right lower bilobectomy in non-small cell lung cancer patients.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed a prospective database of non-small cell lung cancer patients who underwent right lower sleeve lobectomy (group S) or right lower bilobectomy (group B) from January 2014 to January 2020 in Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital.

Clinical significance of miR-142-3p in oral lichen planus and its regulatory role in keratinocyte proliferation.

Objective: Accumulating microRNAs (miRNAs) have been identified as aberrantly expressed in patients with oral lichen planus (OLP). This study aimed to investigate the role and underlying mechanism of miR-142-3p in OLP.

Study Design: Fifty-six patients with OLP and 44 control participants without OLP were recruited, and real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction was used for the measurement of miR-142-3p.

MiR-221-3p as a Potential Biomarker for Patients with Psoriasis and Its Role in Inflammatory Responses in Keratinocytes.

Introduction: This study investigated serum miR-221-3p levels in psoriatic patients and the characterization of serum miR-221-3p in keratinocyte inflammatory responses was further assessed.

Methods: qRT-PCR was used to detect the expression level of miR-221-3p in the serum of 46 patients with psoriasis and 42 healthy controls. The receiver operating characteristic curve evaluated the diagnostic ability of miR-221-3p in psoriasis.

MiR-26a regulates the expression of serum IGF-1 in patients with osteoporosis and its effect on proliferation and apoptosis of mouse chondrocytes.

Objectives: To examine the effects of the regulation on IGF-1 by miR-26a on the serum of patients with osteoporosis (OP) and apoptosis and proliferation of chondrocytes of mice with OP.

Methods: Totally 47 patients with OP treated in our hospital between July 2018 and November 2019 were selected as the research group, and 42 healthy individuals in physical examination over this period were selected as the control group. Serum was sampled from each participant in both groups, and miR-26a in the sampled serum was quantified and compared.

Background: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is frequently employed for the assessment of therapy in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma patients. Nonetheless, this technique has its limitations, the most apparent being the inability to differentiate between after therapy effects and the reoccurrence of tumor cells.

Objective: This review was carried out to demonstrate the role of operative MRI in the treatment of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma patients, as well as the analysis of various methods like diffusion, perfusion, and spectroscopy when used in conjugation.

MiR-202-5p/ mediates doxorubicin-resistance of breast cancer cells via PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.

We intended to explore the effect of miR-202-5p and phosphatase and tensin homolog () on doxorubicin (DOX) resistance of breast cancer cells. The result of quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) reveals that miR-202-5p was highly expressed in drug-resistant breast cancer tissues, while was expressed less. Morphine Postconditioning alleviates autophage in ischemia-reperfusion induced cardiac injury through up-regulating lncRNA UCA1.

Background: Cardiac injury that induced by ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) significantly threatens human life, and autophagic cell death plays a pivotal role underlying it. Morphine Postconditioning (MpostC) has been identified to protect hearts against reperfusion injury, while whether MpostC treatment ameliorated cell autophage was still unclear.

Methods: The I/R rats were induced using left anterior descending artery occlusion followed by reperfusion.

Efficacy of arthroscopic loose body removal for knee osteoarthritis.

The purpose of the present study was to explore the efficacy of arthroscopic loose body removal for knee osteoarthritis (KOA). A total of 23 patients with KOA were enrolled and randomly received conservative treatment (conservative group; n=10) or loose body removal surgery (surgery group; n=13). The serum levels of disease activity indices, including hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and synovial inflammatory factors [interleukin (IL)-1 and IL-6] were detected prior to surgery, and at 4 days, 2 or 4 weeks after surgery.

Empty-nest-related psychological distress is associated with progression of brain white matter lesions and cognitive impairment in the elderly.

This study evaluated the association between empty-nest-related psychological distress and the progression of white matter lesions (WMLs) and cognitive impairment in 219 elderly subjects aged 60 years or over. Psychological distress was assessed using the University of California at Los Angeles Loneliness Scale (UCLA-LS) and Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) Short-Form. Cognitive function was evaluated using the MMSE and MoCA.
