Polymers have always played a critical role in the development of novel drug delivery systems by providing the sustained, controlled and targeted release of both hydrophobic and hydrophilic drugs. Among the different polymers, polyamides or poly(amino acid)s exhibit distinct features such as good biocompatibility, slow degradability and flexible physicochemical modification. The degradation rates of poly(amino acid)s are influenced by the hydrophilicity of the amino acids that make up the polymer.

Objective: Combination therapy of lisinopril and rosuvastatin may be an important concept in developing more effective strategies to treat and prevent atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, and co-morbid metabolic disorders. The present study was designed to evaluate toxic effects of lisinopril and rosuvastatin alone or its combination therapy on hematological and biochemical analytes in Wistar rats.
Materials And Methods: Forty-two rats were divided into seven groups, with each group comprising six rats.

The aim of this investigation was to develop a novel multifunctional co-processed diluent consisting of microcrystalline cellulose (Avicel PH 102), crospovidone (Polyplasdone XL) and polyethylene glycol 4000. Colloidal silicon dioxide and talc were also incorporated as minor components in the diluent to improve tableting properties. Melt granulation was adopted for preparation of co-processed diluent.

Synthesis and diuretic activity of some novel 2,4-diamino-6-aryl-7-arylaminopyrimidol4,5-d]pyrimidin-5(6H) -ones were described. The series was designed on the basis of structural similarity between pteridines and pyridopyrimidines. Designed molecules were synthesized by cyclo-condensation of 5-cyano-6-methylmercapto-3-aryl-2-arylaminopyrimidin-4(3H)-one with guanidine.

Direct compression is the preferred method for the preparation of tablets. The present review outlines the importance of the functionality of the directly compressible adjuvants in the formulation of tablets. The co-processing is the most widely explored method for the preparation of directly compressible adjuvants because it is cost effective and can be prepared in-house based on the functionality required.

Losartan (LST) is the first orally active nonpeptide angiotensin-II receptor antagonist with an improved safety and tolerability profile. It is prescribed alone or in combination with hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) for the treatment of moderate-to-severe hypertension. This paper describes the development of 2 methods that use different techniques, first-derivative spectroscopy and high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC), to determine LST and HCTZ in the presence of each other.

A series of 2-substituted thieno(2,3-d)pyrimidin-4-(3H) ones (1-15) was prepared by the reaction of thiophene ortho-aminoester (IV) with a variety of nitriles (V) under acidic conditions, and screened for antihyperlipaemic activity in various animal models. While most of these compounds were found active, 2-chloromethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrobenzo(b)thieno(2,3-d) pyrimidin-4(3H)-one (5) was found to be the most active of all. The serum triglyceride lowering activity exhibited by 5 was found comparable to that of clofibrate and riboflavin tetrabutyrate.
