Sutureless scleral fixation of intraocular lens (sSFIOL) is a commonly employed method of optical rehabilitation of aphakic patients with deficient capsular support, and corneal transplant surgeries can be simultaneously combined with sSFIOL to handle aphakic corneal opacities. A single-stage procedure circumvents the need for repeat intraocular procedures and carries lower risk of graft endothelial damage, endophthalmitis, and macular edema associated with sequential surgeries. However, it mandates surgical expertise and increases the chances of postoperative inflammation.

Increase in sympathetic activity as a result of cardiovascular stress response to laryngoscopy can be detrimental to the patient. The primary objective is to compare intravenous dexmedetomidine and clonidine as adjuvants to low dose opioid (fentanyl) for attenuation of hemodynamic response to laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation. The secondary objectives are to compare the perioperative dose requirement of fentanyl and thiopentone, to compare the duration of postoperative analgesia, and to look for side effects in all three groups.

Background And Aims: Alpha-2 agonists are being increasingly used as adjuncts in general anesthesia and the present study was carried out to study the effect of clonidine as an adjuvant to low dose fentanyl in attenuating the hemodynamic response to laryngoscopy and orotracheal intubation.

Materials And Methods: Ninety female patients belonging to American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I, II, and III in age group 25-65 years, body mass index (BMI) 21-26 kg/m(2), and diagnosed as carcinoma breast scheduled for breast surgery were included in this Prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled study. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), paired t-test, and chi-square test was applied where deemed appropriate.

Background: Intrathecal clonidine prolongs spinal anesthesia but the optimum dose to be used in cesarean delivery is not yet known. We evaluated the effect of addition of intrathecal clonidine to hyperbaric bupivacaine on postoperative pain after lower segment caesarean section.

Methods: A total of 105 parturients carrying a singleton fetus at term, scheduled to undergo elective LSCS under spinal anesthesia were randomized in a double blind fashion to one of the three groups.
