Background: We evaluated the risk for cesarean delivery among term nulliparous women, categorized by maternal stature and recent sonographic estimated fetal weight (EFW).

Methods: A retrospective study including singleton deliveries of nulliparous women between 2011 and 2020, with sonographic EFW within 1 week of delivery. We categorized maternal height into five groups: ≤150, 151-155, 156-160, 161-165, and ≥166 cm.

Are nocturnal hypoglycemia prevention strategies influenced by diabetes technology usage? A BETTER registry analysis.

Aim: To assess the association of nocturnal hypoglycemia prevention strategies (NH-PS) and diabetes technology usage (insulin pump and/or continuous glucose monitors [CGM]) in people with type 1 diabetes (PWT1D).

Methods: Logistic regression models were used to describe associations between self-reported NH-PS and diabetes technology (pump with intermittently-scanned or real-time CGM (isCGM or rtCGM), or automated insulin delivery (AID)), hypoglycemia history, and fear of hypoglycemia (FOH).

Results: Among 831 adults (65 % female, aged 44 ± 15 years, T1D duration 26 ± 15 years), 32 % reported HbA1c ≤ 7.

Objectives: This study aimed to describe the burden of illness and impact on health and working situation among former intensive care patients treated for COVID-19.

Methods: A prospective cohort study was performed at one intensive care unit of a university hospital in Sweden during the first wave of COVID-19 in spring 2020. The burden of illness in health status, cognitive, physical, and psychological outcomes, and working situation were assessed at four and 12 months after discharge from intensive care, using nine validated instruments.

Hospitalization With Clostridioides difficile in Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease: a Population-Based Study.

Objectives: Several studies have demonstrated higher rates of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) in adults with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). We conducted a population-based study comparing the risk of hospitalization with CDI in children with and without IBD.

Methods: Using health administrative data and validated algorithms, we identified all children (<16 years) diagnosed with IBD in 5 Canadian provinces, then age and sex matched to 5 children without IBD.

Sleep behaviours among Canadian adults: Findings from the 2020 Canadian Community Health Survey healthy living rapid response module.

Introduction: The Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for Adults, released in October 2020, recommend 7 to 9 hours of good-quality sleep for adults aged 18 to 64 and 7 to 8 hours for adults aged 65 and older, on a regular basis, with consistent sleep and wake times for health benefits. This study assesses the sleep behaviours of Canadian adults and how these behaviours align with the recommendations.

Data And Methods: This cross-sectional study uses nationally representative data from the 2020 Canadian Community Health Survey healthy living rapid response module (N = 9,248), collected from January to March 2020.

Background: Poly ADP-ribose glycohydrolase (PARG) is responsible for the catabolism of PARP-synthesized PAR to free ADP-ribose. Inhibition of PARG leads to DNA repair interruption and consequently induces cell death. This study aims to evaluate the effect of a PARG inhibitor (PARGi) on epithelial ovarian cancer (OC) cell lines, alone and in combination with a PARP inhibitor (PARPi) and/or Cisplatin.

Associations of overweight and gestational diabetes mellitus with free sugars from solid and liquid sources: cross-sectional and nested case-control analyses.

Background: Sugar-sweetened beverages have obesogenic and diabetogenic effects ascribed to free sugars. These include added sugars and naturally occurring sugars in juices. A meta-analysis indicates that some foods with added sugars are associated with lower type 2 diabetes rates.

Identification of Predictive Biomarkers for Lymph Node Involvement in Obese Women With Endometrial Cancer.

Obesity, an established risk factor for endometrial cancer (EC), is also associated to increased risks of intraoperative and postoperative complications. A reliable tool to identify patients at low risk for lymph node (LN) metastasis may allow minimizing the surgical staging and omit lymphadenectomy in obese patients. To identify molecular biomarkers that could predict LN involvement in obese patients with EC we performed gene expression analysis in 549 EC patients using publicly available transcriptomic datasets.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease Increases the Risk of Venous Thromboembolism in Children: A Population-Based Matched Cohort Study.

Background And Aims: Although venous thromboembolism [VTE] is a well-known complication of inflammatory bowel disease [IBD] in adults, limited data exist on the risk in children. We report the incidence of VTE among children with and without IBD.

Methods: We conducted a matched cohort study within a distributed network of population-based Canadian provincial health administrative databases.

Objective: To evaluate if the prognostic value of lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) is different in endometrial cancer patients with negative lymph nodes following sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping or lymph node dissection (LND) as staging procedure.

Material And Methods: A retrospective study of 510 patients diagnosed with endometrial carcinoma in our institution between 2007 and 2014. We excluded patients that were diagnosed with positive nodes (Stage IIIc).

Association between gastroprotective agents and risk of incident interstitial lung disease in systemic sclerosis.

Objectives: Although interstitial lung disease (ILD) occurs in over half of systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients and represents a leading cause of mortality, there are currently no preventative strategies. We evaluated if gastroprotective agents were associated with a lower incident risk of SSc-ILD.

Methods: An SSc cohort without clinically apparent ILD at baseline was constructed from the Canadian Scleroderma Research Group registry.

Sentinel Lymph Node Sampling as an Alternative to Lymphadenectomy in Patients With Endometrial Cancer and Obesity.

Objective: Although its use in endometrial cancer staging is relatively new, sentinel lymph node (SLN) sampling has been shown to be highly accurate and is associated with few complications. However, some studies report lower rates of detection with SLN sampling among patients with obesity. Water-Pipe Smoking Exposure Deregulates a Set of Genes Associated with Human Head and Neck Cancer Development and Prognosis.

Water-pipe smoking (WPS) is becoming the most popular form of tobacco use among the youth, especially in the Middle East, replacing cigarettes rapidly and becoming a major risk of tobacco addiction worldwide. Smoke from WPS contains similar toxins as those present in cigarette smoke and is linked directly with different types of cancers including lung and head and neck (HN) carcinomas. However, the underlying molecular pathways and/or target genes responsible for the carcinogenic process are still unknown.

Psychosocial distress in patients with cutaneous melanoma: validation of the Skin Cancer Index (SCI).

Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine the factor structure and psychometric properties of the Skin Cancer Index (SCI) in a sample of patients with melanoma.

Methods: This study uses data from an observational study with longitudinal follow-up examining predictors of skin self-examination in melanoma patients from Montréal, Canada. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were used to investigate the factor structure of the 15-item SCI scale.

The added value of sentinel node mapping in endometrial cancer.

Objective: To evaluate long-term oncological outcomes and the added value of sentinel lymph node sampling (SLN) compared to pelvic lymph node dissection (LND) in patients with endometrial cancer (EC).

Methods: During the evaluation phase of SLN for EC, we performed LND and SLN and retrospectively compared the oncologic outcome with the immediate non-overlapping historical era during which patients underwent LND.

Results: From 2007 to 2010, 193 patients underwent LND and from December 2010 to 2014, 250 patients had SLN mapping with completion LND.
