Background: Placenta accreta involves abnormal adherence of the placenta to the myometrium. Placenta increta and percreta are defined by the degree of trophoblastic penetration of the myometrium. These conditions are rarely observed in the first trimester; placenta increta and percreta are exceptionally infrequent.
