Introduction Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is one of the most common, easily treatable, causes of long-term neurodevelopmental complications in children. The prevalence of CH in India is much higher compared to other countries. Although developed countries have well-established neonatal screening programs, a uniform nationwide screening program at birth is still not established in India.

Background: Reduced fetal movements (RFM) are a significant concern in obstetric care. They often indicate fetal distress and are associated with adverse perinatal outcomes such as stillbirth and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). While RFM is recognized as a critical marker of fetal well-being, there is a limit to the data available on its risk factors and outcomes in the Port Sudan region.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to examine the effect of type of delivery and anesthesia method on the screening ABR test results of newborns within the scope of the Newborn Hearing Screening Program (NHCP) and to investigate the relationship between the test results and the relevant variables.
Methods: 441 newborns were included in the study. Of these newborns, 221 constituted the control group (normal (vaginal) delivery), and 220 constituted the study group (cesarean section, delivery).

Purpose: This study evaluated the effects of the Spinning Babies program applied during labor on birth outcomes and satisfaction among pregnant women.
Methods: This non-equivalent control group, non-synchronized post-test only design study included 42 participants (22 in the experimental group and 20 in the control group). The Spinning Babies program was conducted four times in the experimental group during the first and second stages of delivery for 50 min per session.

Background: The optimal duration of second stage of labor has been largely discussed in literature, but there are no uniformly accepted contemporary criteria for defining normal or abnormal length. Available evidence suggests that longer duration of second stage of labor is associated with a lower rate of spontaneous vaginal delivery and increased maternal morbidity. On the neonatal side, it seems that longer second stage doesn't affect new-born morbidity, in a context of very rare neonatal complications.

Background and objectives Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) remains a critical concern in newborns, with therapeutic hypothermia (TH) serving as a key treatment strategy. However, assessing long-term outcomes requires a comprehensive approach, as children may develop neuropsychological and learning challenges even in the absence of noticeable motor impairments. This study aims to explore the correlation between electroencephalography (EEG) and neuroimaging findings with the clinical severity of HIE.

Objective: To test whether anti-inflammatory and antioxidant drugs that inhibit the nuclear factor kappa light chain enhancer of activated B cells (NF-kB), celastrol and edaravone, suppress spasms and improve developmental outcomes in the multiple-hit rat model of refractory infantile spasms (IS) due to structural lesions.
Methods: Postnatal day 3 (PN3) Sprague-Dawley rats were treated according to the multiple-hit IS model protocol. Using a randomized, blinded, vehicle-controlled, dose- and time-response study design, we tested the effects of single celastrol [1, 2, or 4 mg/kg intraperitoneally (i.

Introduction: Perinatal asphyxia is caused by a lack of oxygen to organ systems due to hypoxic or ischemic insult that occurs during labour and delivery. This may lead to multi-organ failure with brain involvement as the major organ of concern.
Case Report: We present a 19-day-old neonate referred to our centre with the complaint of inability to suck since birth and multiple seizures that started on the second day of life.

Background: High-dose steroid administration is a common initial therapeutic approach for Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease (VKH). Nonetheless, administering substantial doses of steroids to pregnant women necessitates meticulous consideration due to the potential impacts on the mother and fetus. We present a case wherein steroid pulse therapy was administered to a patient who developed VKH during the late stages of pregnancy.

During fetal life the right valve of the sinus venosus directs oxygenated blood from the inferior vena cava to the left atrium through the foramen ovale, until the regression of the right valve which usually occurs within the 15th week of pregnancy. Incomplete regression of the right venous valve in varying degrees can lead to different types of remnants such as the Eustachian valve, the Chiari Network and Cor Triatriatum Dexter. Prenatal diagnosis of remnants of right venous valve has only rarely been reported in the literature.

Midwife-led continuity of care models have been linked to better clinical outcomes in certain developed countries. However, there is a paucity of research on these models in developing nations. This quasi-experimental study was conducted on primiparous women who referred to one private midwifery center and two public hospitals in Ahvaz, Iran to evaluate the effect of team midwifery care on maternal and neonatal outcomes of pregnant women in Iran.

Aims: Perinatal asphyxia is one of the major causes of neonatal death at birth. Survivors can progress but often suffer from long-term sequelae. We aim to determine the effects of perinatal asphyxia on mitochondrial dynamics and whether mesenchymal stem cell secretome (MSC-S) treatment can alleviate the deleterious effects.

Hypothermia is a relatively rare condition in pregnancy and has been associated with fetal bradycardia. The management of maternal hypothermia resulting in fetal bradycardia presents a challenging dilemma for healthcare professionals. Currently, no evidence exists to advise on the duration of this condition before obstetric interventions are necessary for a safe outcome for both mother and infant.
