Objectives: To assess the impact of a positive history of venous thromboembolism (VTE) on perioperative outcomes, including length of in-hospital stay, readmission rates, 90-day postoperative complications, and healthcare costs in bladder cancer (BCa) patients undergoing transurethral resection of bladder tumour (TURBT) in the United States.

Patients And Methods: Patients aged ≥18 years with a BCa diagnosis undergoing TURBT were identified in the Merative® Marketscan® Research de-identified databases between 2007 and 2021. Multivariable logistic regression adjusted by relevant perioperative confounders was used to investigate the association between diagnosis of VTE before TURBT and 90-day complication rates, new postoperative VTE events, re-hospitalization, and total hospital expenditures (2021 US dollars).

Cochrane Rehabilitation and the World Health Organization (WHO) Rehabilitation Program are collaborating to produce four Cochrane overviews of systematic reviews that synthesize the current evidence from health policy and systems research (HPSR) in rehabilitation. They will focus on the four pillars of HPSR identified by the Cochrane Effective Practice and Organization of Care (EPOC) taxonomy: delivery arrangements, financial arrangements, governance arrangements, and implementation strategies. The protocol describes why HPSR is currently needed in rehabilitation, provides detailed information on the four EPOC pillars in interaction with rehabilitation and reports the Cochrane methods that will be followed to produce the overviews.

Background: The relationship between venous thromboembolism (VTE) and solid malignancy has been established over the decades. With rising projected rates of bladder cancer (BCa) worldwide as well as increasing number of patients experiencing BCa and VTE, our aim is to assess the impact of a preoperative VTE diagnosis on perioperative outcomes and health-care costs in BCa cases undergoing radical cystectomy (RC).

Methods: Patients ≥18 years of age with BCa diagnosis and undergoing open or minimally invasive (MIS) RC were identified in the Merative™ Marketscan Research Databases between 2007 and 2021.

Despite the arising interest in three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction models from 2D imaging, their diffusion and perception among urologists have been scarcely explored. The aim of the study is to report the results of an international survey investigating the use of such tools among urologists of different backgrounds and origins. Beyond demographics, the survey explored the degree to which 3D models are perceived to improve surgical outcomes, the procedures mostly making use of them, the settings in which those tools are mostly applied, the surgical steps benefiting from 3D reconstructions and future perspectives of improvement.

Radical cystectomy represents one of the most challenging surgical procedures, exhibiting a high morbidity rate. The transition to minimally invasive surgery in the field has been steep, due to either the technical complexity and prior concerns of atypical recurrences and/or peritoneal spread. More recently, a larger series of RCTs has proven the oncological safety of robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC).

The scenario of robotic surgery is rapidly evolving with the introduction of new robotic systems. A structured learning program in robotic surgery during academic education is often lacking, especially for undergraduates; as a result, many students may be unaware of indications to robotic surgery and technological progress. The aim of the study is to evaluate the knowledge and interest toward robotic surgery of medical and nurse students, and to analyze how the attractiveness may change after a hand-on training course with new simulators of Hugo RAS and Versius System.

Pelvis is a functional shell-like unit consisting of the pelvic floor and perineum. The patients, who underwent a radical operation of the pelvis due to an oncological disease, often develop pelvic disorders. These disorders do not depend on the type of surgery or any presence of postoperative treatment (radio- and chemotherapy).
