Domestic use of pesticides during early periods of development and risk of testicular germ cell tumors in adulthood: a French nationwide case-control study.

Background: Testicular germ cell tumours (TGCT) are the most frequent cancers in young men in developed countries and their incidence rate has doubled worldwide over the past 40 years. Early life exposures to pesticides are suspected to increase TGCT risk. Our research aimed at estimating adult TGCT risk associated with parental domestic use of pesticides during early periods of child development.

Peripheral inflammation is associated with brain SPECT perfusion changes in schizophrenia.

Purpose: Peripheral inflammation is frequent in schizophrenia and could play a role in the pathophysiology, prognosis, and persistence of psychotic symptomatology under treatment. We seek to determine the relationship between peripheral inflammation and brain SPECT perfusion in stabilized antipsychotic-treated outpatients with schizophrenia, and to determine whether such perfusion changes are correlated with persistent symptoms.

Methods: Highly sensitive C-reactive protein blood level (hs-CRP) and brain SPECT perfusion were assessed in 137 stabilized outpatients with schizophrenia.

Contralateral Orchiopexy at the Time of Urgent Scrotal Exploration-Is It Safe? A Propensity Score Matched Analysis from the TORSAFUF Cohort.

Purpose: We evaluate the safety of immediate contralateral orchiopexy (ICLO) at the time of scrotal exploration for testicular torsion suspicion.

Materials And Methods: Patient data were retrieved from the TORSAFUF cohort project, which is a multicenter national study conducted at 14 academic French hospitals between 2005 and 2019. Each patient who underwent surgical exploration for testicular torsion suspicion was included.

Restoration of the first dorsal interosseous muscle.

Motor dysfunction of the 1 dorsal interosseous (DIO) muscle is typically observed in low and high ulnar nerve palsy. This causes weak thumb-index pinch, which can be disabling for the patient. Various reconstructive techniques have been described; however, the choice often depends on the surgeon's experience, the presence of associated neurovascular and musculotendinous injuries, as well as the requirements of the palliative surgery schedule.

Residents and patients benefit from surgical simulation on a live porcine model, could we consider it as ethical?

Introduction: The objective was to evaluate, by self-questionnaire, the feeling of participants in surgical training sessions on a live porcine model.

Methods: A computerized questionnaire (GoogleForm ©) was sent to the members of the French Association of Urologists-in-Training (AFUF) (fellows and residents). Only questionnaires from Urologists-in-training who had participated in surgical training sessions were included.

Educational program in onco-urology for young urologists: What are their needs?

Purpose: The emergence of new communication media such as digital contents are progressively replacing more traditional medias in the field of educational programs. Our purpose was to assess urologist in training aspirations regarding urological education.

Methods: Members of a national urologist in training association were sent an anonymous online questionnaire regarding their medical formation in the field of urology.

Positive and negative urgency as a single coherent construct: Evidence from a large-scale network analysis in clinical and non-clinical samples.

Aims: Negative and positive urgency are emotion-related impulsivity traits that are thought to be transdiagnostic factors in psychopathology. However, it has recently been claimed that these two traits are closely related to each other and that considering them separately might have limited conceptual and methodological value. The present study aimed to examine whether positive and negative urgency constructs constitute separate impulsivity traits.

Active Surveillance for Biopsy Proven Renal Oncocytomas: Outcomes and Feasibility.

Objectives: To report the outcomes and feasibility of active surveillance (AS) of biopsy-proven renal oncocytomas.

Methods: Multicentric retrospective study (2010-2016) in 6 academic centers that included patients with biopsy-proven renal oncocytomas who were allocated to AS (imperative or elective indication) with a follow-up ≥1 year. Imaging was performed at least once a year, by CT-scan or ultrasound or MRI.

Intra-Individual Aging of the Facial Skeleton.

Background: Midface skeletal changes through aging have been conceptualized as a clockwise rotation relative to the cranial base. This finding is mainly supported by cross-sectional population studies based on comparisons between groups of individuals in different age ranges. Few papers have evaluated the intra-individual evolution of the facial skeleton, and those that have included only a limited number of patients.

Use of simulation-based training of surgical technical skills among ENTs: an international YO-IFOS survey.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the use of simulation-based technical skills training (SBTST) in the otolaryngology curriculum in different countries, and to explore the needs and opinions about the use of simulation among young otolaryngologists.

Methods: An e-survey conducted among Young Otolaryngologists of the International Federation of Oto-rhino-laryngological Societies (Yo-IFOS) members.

Results: 139 Yo-IFOS members from 51 countries completed the survey.
