Theranostics is a new treatment modality integrating molecular imaging with targeted radionuclide therapy. Theranostic agents have received regulatory approval for some systemic cancers and have therapeutic potential in neuro-oncology. As clinical trials are developed to evaluate the efficacy of theranostic agents in brain tumors, specific considerations will have to be considered, taking into account lessons learned from previous studies examining other treatment modalities in neuro-oncology.

Introduction: The aim of this study was the initial investigation of 4D-Flow MRI and Vector Ultrasound as novel imaging techniques in the in-vitro analysis of hemodynamics in anatomical models. Specifically, by looking at the hemodynamic performance of state-of-the-art surgical heart valves in a 3D-printed aortic arch.
Methods: The mock circulatory loop simulated physiological, pulsatile flow.

Background: Compared to intensive care unit patients with SARS-CoV-2 negative acute respiratory tract infections, patients with SARS-CoV-2 are supposed to develop more frequently and more severely neurologic sequelae. Delirium and subsequent neurocognitive deficits (NCD) have implications for patients' morbidity and mortality. However, the extent of brain injury during acute COVID-19 and subsequent NCD still remain largely unexplored.

The spread of carbapenemase-producing gram-negative pathogens, especially those producing metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs), has become a major health concern. MBLs are molecularly the most diverse carbapenemases, produced by a wide spectrum of gram-negative organisms, including the Enterobacterales, Pseudomonas spp., Acinetobacter baumannii, and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, and can hydrolyze most β-lactams using metal ion cofactors in their active sites.

Background: Osteoporosis, age and frailty significantly impacts outcomes in fragility fractures of the pelvis, increasing morbidity and mortality. Identifying frailty aids in risk stratification and personalized care plans, enhancing recovery and reducing complications in older adults. Orthogeriatric co-management, an interdisciplinary approach combining orthopedics and geriatrics, optimizes care for older adults with fragility fractures.

Aim Of The Study: Esophageal atresia (EA) is associated with impaired motor development, cardiopulmonary function, and physical activity (PA). Despite missing scientific evidence, this fact is often attributed to associated congenital heart disease (CHD). The aim of this study was to investigate PA in EA patients without CHD compared with CHD patients and healthy controls.

Background And Importance: Agitation of elderly patients in the emergency department (ED) often complicates workup and therapy.
Objective: In this study, we investigated if agitation in the ED can be reduced by showing calming video sequences in elderly agitated patients.
Designs: Prospective randomized intervention study.

Introduction: Persons after stroke experience limitations in activities of daily living even in the chronic phase. Many patients who had a stroke report mobility limitations with loss of social roles such as reduced gait-related participation. International best-practice recommendations for patients who had a stroke include interprofessional diagnostics as a core element for goal setting and intervention planning to improve social participation.

Background: Optic neuritis (ON) is a common manifestation of multiple sclerosis (MS) and myelin-oligodendrocyte-glycoprotein IgG-associated disease (MOGAD). This study evaluated the applicability of optical coherence tomography (OCT) for differentiating between both diseases in two independent cohorts.
Methods: One hundred sixty two patients from seven sites underwent standard OCT and high-contrast visual acuity (HCVA) testing at least 6 months after first ON.

Background: Economic and health care restraints strongly impact on drug prescription for chronic diseases. We aimed to identify potential factors for prescription behavior in chronic disease. Multiple sclerosis was chosen as a model disease due to its chronic character, incidence, and high socioeconomic impact.

Here, we explored the neuroprotective potential of different Nrf2-pathway activators in human immortalized dopaminergic neurons against annonacin-induced toxicity, a mitochondrial inhibitor associated with a PSP-like syndrome and capable of mimicking tauopathy-like features. Interestingly, we observed heterogenous and compound-dependent neuroprotective effects among the different Nrf2-pathway activators.

Whether interleukin (IL)-6 signaling, an active pharmacological target upstream of CRP, is associated with these amyloid-related pathologies remains unknown.
Methods: We used 26 CRP-lowering variants near the IL-6 receptor gene to perform Mendelian randomization analyses for AD (111,326 cases, 677,663 controls) and ICH (1545 cases, 1481 controls).

Introduction: The release of pro-inflammatory cytokines in critically ill patients with sepsis leads to endothelial dysfunction resulting in cardiocirculatory insufficiency. Their extracorporeal elimination using the cytokine adsorber CytoSorb (CS) (adsorption of especially hydrophobic molecules < 60 kDa) might be promising, but data about the adsorption capacity as well as a potential harmful adsorption of anti-inflammatory cytokines are missing so far.
Methods: The prospective Cyto-SOLVE-study included 15 patients with sepsis or other hyperinflammatory conditions (interleukin 6 > 500 pg/ml), continuous kidney replacement therapy, and the application of CS.

Background: Childhood interstitial lung disease (chILD) encompasses a group of rare heterogeneous respiratory conditions associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Reports suggest that many patients diagnosed with chILD continue to have potentially progressive or fibrosing disease into adulthood. Over the last decade, the spectrum of conditions within chILD has widened substantially, with the discovery of novel entities through advanced genetic testing.

Methods: In a descriptive study, 1009 admissions to a neonatal ward in a tertiary care hospital in Lilongwe, Malawi, were analysed and divided into a baseline and a trial group.

Objective: To explore causal associations between BMI-independent body fat distribution profiles and cerebrovascular disease risk, and to investigate potential mediators underlying these associations.
Methods: Leveraging data from genome wide association studies of BMI-independent gluteofemoral (GFAT), abdominal subcutaneous (ASAT), and visceral (VAT) adipose tissue volumes in UK Biobank, we selected variants associated with each trait, and performed univariable and multivariable mendelian randomization (MR) analyses on ischemic stroke and subtypes (large artery (LAS), cardioembolic (CES), small vessel (SVS)). We used coronary artery disease (CAD), carotid intima media thickness (cIMT), and an MRI-confirmed lacunar stroke as positive controls.

Follicular lymphoma (FL) exhibits considerable variability in biological features and clinical trajectories across patients. To dissect the diversity of FL, we utilized a Bernoulli mixture model to identify genetic subtypes in 713 pre-treatment tumor tissue samples. Our analysis revealed the existence of five subtypes with unique genetic profiles that correlated with clinicopathological characteristics.

According to the new WHO classification of 2021, gliomas are a heterogeneous group of tumors with very different histology, molecular genetics, and prognoses. In addition to glioblastomas, the most common gliomas, there are also numerous less common gliomas, some of which have a very favorable prognosis. Targeted radionuclide therapy is a therapeutic option that can be attractive if a tumor can be targeted based on its molecular characteristics.

Endodontic access preparation is one of the initial steps in root canal treatments and can be hindered by the obliteration of pulp canals and formation of tertiary dentin. Until now, methods for direct intraoperative visualization of the 3-dimensional anatomy of teeth have been missing. Here, we evaluate the use of shortwave infrared radiation (SWIR) for navigation during stepwise access preparation.
