This study outlines the clinical features and comprehensive management of three cases of corneal injury by a bee sting. The stinger removal was attempted, and in two cases, the stinger was successfully removed. In one case, a portion of the stinger broke and was left in situ without inciting any further inflammation.

Purpose: Microbial keratitis is a sight-threatening condition with a higher incidence in agrarian populations. In countries with a high indigent population, due to financial and other constraints, patients prefer to seek therapy locally rather than travel to advanced centres. The aim of this study is to describe the epidemiology, clinical characteristics, and outcomes of 60 consecutive patients with microbial keratitis managed at a rural centre.

, a free-living amoeba in water and soil, is an emerging pathogen causing severe eye infection known as keratitis. In its natural environment, performs a dual function as an environmental heterotrophic predator and host for a range of microorganisms that resist digestion. Our objective was to characterize the intracellular microorganisms of phylogenetically distinct spp.

Objective: Blau syndrome (BS), considered a rare pediatric autoinflammatory disease, is characterised by a triad of granulomatous arthritis, dermatitis and uveitis. Here we present a tale of three families visited in our outpatient department in the last two years (2020-2022) where more than one member was affected with either skin, ophthalmological and joint involvement with either biopsy-proven granuloma or genetic mutation at NOD2 gene suggesting the diagnosis of BS.
Case Series: The first family had three affected members where the mother and her two children had skin changes, polyarthritis and a pathogenic mutation in NOD2 gene (exon 4, c.

Purpose: To establish the normative data of the head and face measurements needed to design an appropriate spectacle frame for the Indian population.
Methods: Indian subjects between 20 and 40 years were included in the study. Thirteen parameters were measured using the direct and indirect methods using ImageJ software.

Pythium insidiosum is a parasitic oomycete that can cause keratitis and closely resembles fungus, both clinically and morphologically. It requires a trained microbiologist for its differentiation from fungal filaments and has poor response to antifungal therapy. We present a case of primary isolation of the organism from the vitreous cavity in a case of endophthalmitis.

Introduction: Acanthamoeba is an emerging pathogen, infamous for its resilience against antiprotozoal compounds, disinfectants and harsh environments. It is known to cause keratitis, a sight-threatening, painful and difficult to treat corneal infection which is often reported among contact lens wearers and patients with ocular trauma. Acanthamoeba comprises over 24 species and currently 23 genotypes (T1-T23) have been identified.

Background: In low-and-middle income countries, corneal abrasions and ulcers are common and not always well managed. Previous studies showed better clinical outcomes with early presentation and treatment of minor abrasions, however, there have been no formal studies estimating the financial impact of early treatment of abrasions and ulcers compared to delayed treatment.
Methods: We used the LV Prasad Eye Institute's (LVPEI's) electronic health record system (eyeSmart) to estimate the impact of early presentation on clinical outcomes associated with abrasions and ulcers.

Aim: To analyse the changes in magnitude and orientation of astigmatism after suture removal (SR) in keratoplasty eyes as measured by refraction, tomography, and aberrometry.
Methods: Twenty-six eyes of 25 patients after optical keratoplasty requiring SR to reduce the astigmatism during the follow-up period were prospectively included. Eyes with poor quality topography scans or if there were no sutures in the steepest semi meridian were excluded.

Purpose: To describe the clinical profile of patients with ocular Calotropis poisoning presenting to a multitier ophthalmology hospital network in India.
Methods: This cross-sectional hospital-based study included 2,047,360 new patients presenting between August 2010 and March 2020. Patients with a clinical diagnosis of Calotropis poisoning in at least one eye were included.

Aim: To compare the difference of capsulotomy produced by precision pulse capsulotomy (PPC), manual (M-CCC), and femtosecond laser assisted capsulotomy (FLAC) in relation to intraocular lens (IOL) centration, circularity and its effect on visual outcomes.
Methods: Prospective, non-randomized comparative study conducted at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India. Sixty eyes of 52 patients were grouped into 3 (FLAC, PPC and M-CCC) based on capsulotomy techniques used.

Purpose: Health care workers are susceptible to contracting infection with COVID-19 by aerosol transmission. This is a risk while examining and/or treating an un-sedated neonate in retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) screening and treatment. But screening for neonates for ROP and treating with laser, when required, should not be delayed to avoid the blindness.

Purpose: Intracameral antibiotic in cataract surgery has shown level I evidence as prophylaxis for postoperative endophthalmitis. Not much is known if one should also use topical antibiotics after intracameral injection. The purpose of the study was to determine efficacy of intracameral antibiotic with and without postoperative topical antibiotic in reducing the incidence of acute endophthalmitis after cataract surgery in rural India.

Purpose: Intracameral antibiotics are known to reduce the incidence of acute endophthalmitis. Various drugs are available for intracameral use. This prospective study was carried out to compare the efficacies of intracameral cefuroxime and moxifloxacin prophylaxis in reducing the incidence of acute endophthalmitis after cataract surgery in rural India.

Aim: To analyse retinopathy phenotypes and microaneurysm (MA) turnover in mild non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) as predictors of progression to diabetic central-involved macular oedema (CIMO) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) in two different ethnic populations.
Methods: 205 patients with type 2 DM and mild NPDR were followed in a prospective observational study for 2 years or until development of CIMO, in two centres from different regions of the world. Ophthalmological examinations, including best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), fundus photography with RetmarkerDR analysis, and optical coherence tomography (OCT), were performed at baseline and 6 12 and 24 months.

Inherited retinal dystrophies are a group of genetically heterogeneous conditions with broad phenotypic heterogeneity. We analyzed a large five-generation pedigree with early-onset recessive retinal degeneration to identify the causative mutation. Linkage analysis and homozygosity mapping combined with exome sequencing were carried out to map the disease locus and identify the p.
