(1) Introduction: The global rise of gastrointestinal diseases, including colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel diseases, highlights the need to understand their causes. Diet is a common risk factor and a crucial regulator of gene expression, with alterations observed in both conditions. This study aims to elucidate the specific biological mechanisms through which diet influences the risk of bowel diseases.

The electroencephalogram (EEG) is a cornerstone tool for the diagnosis, management, and prognosis of selected patient populations. EEGs offer significant advantages such as high temporal resolution, real-time cortical function assessment, and bedside usability. The quantitative EEG (qEEG) added the possibility of long recordings being processed in a compressive manner, making EEG revision more efficient for experienced users, and more friendly for new ones.

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounting for the majority of cases. The stage of detection significantly influences survival rates with early-stage diagnosis offering the best prognosis. This study investigates the prognostic impact of the omega-6/omega-3 ratio and tumor infiltration by CD8+ lymphocytes and CD68+ macrophages on overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in NSCLC patients undergoing pulmonary resection.

Aims: To investigate whether seasonal influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations influence the severity of decompensations and long-term outcomes of patients with acute heart failure (AHF).
Methods And Results: We included consecutive AHF patients attended at 40 Spanish emergency departments during November and December 2022. They were grouped according to whether they had received seasonal influenza and COVID-19 vaccination.

Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is genetically characterized by the IG::CCND1 translocation mediated by an aberrant V(D)J rearrangement. CCND1 translocations and overexpression have been identified in occasional aggressive B-cell lymphomas with unusual features for MCL. The mechanism generating CCND1 rearrangements in these tumors and their genomic profile are not known.

Introduction: Embolization could increase the resectability of pancreatic tumors by supercharging visceral arterial perfusion prior to pancreatic surgery with arterial en-bloc resection. Its indications, however, are controversial.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the results of a single-center database of patients undergoing pancreatic surgery with arterial resection (AR) after preoperative arterial embolization (PAE) to increase hepatic vascular flow and spare arterial reconstruction.

Background: Approximately 1 in 6 cannabis users develop a cannabis use disorder (CUD) and the odds increase to 1 in 2 for daily users.
Objective: The Dual use of Cannabis and Tobacco Monitoreing through a Gamified Web app (DuCATA_GAM-CaT) project aims to identify cannabis-tobacco patterns of use and withdrawal symptoms among individuals with CUD who are attending substance abuse programs.
Methods: The project uses a mixed methods approach consisting of 3 studies.

Purpose: The assessment of p16INK4a (p16) in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) has been incorporated into tumor classification, as p16 has been shown to impact survival probability. However, a recent study demonstrated that human papillomavirus (HPV) status in addition to p16 may have a better discriminatory effect on survival probability. This study aims to determine the impact of combined evaluation of p16 and HPV on prognosis.

Macrophages orchestrate tissue homeostasis and immunity. In the tumor microenvironment (TME), macrophage presence is largely associated with poor prognosis because of their reprogramming into immunosuppressive cells. We investigated the effects of hypoxia, a TME-associated feature, on the functional, epigenetic, and transcriptional reprogramming of macrophages and found that hypoxia boosts their immunogenicity.

Oncolytic viruses often face challenges in achieving optimal antitumor immunity as standalone therapies. The penton base RGD-integrin interactions play a significant role in wild-type adenovirus-induced innate immune responses. To modify these responses, we present ISC301, a novel oncolytic adenovirus engineered by deleting the natural RGD motifs in the penton base while incorporating artificial RGD motifs in the fiber knobs.
