This study explored the efficacy of customized anti-gravity treadmill (AGT) training, with adjustments in speed and incline, on rehabilitation outcomes for stroke patients, focusing on knee extensor muscle strength, joint angle, balance ability, and activities of daily living (ADLs). In this study, 30 individuals diagnosed with a stroke were divided into three groups. Experimental group 1 (EG1) underwent training without changes to speed and incline, experimental group 2 (EG2) received training with an increased incline, and experimental group 3 (EG3) underwent training with increased speed.

Background: The large tumor antigen (LT-Ag) and major capsid protein VP1 are known to play important roles in determining the host-specific infection properties of polyomaviruses (PyVs).
Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the physicochemical properties of amino acids of LT-Ag and VP1 that have important effects on host specificity, as well as classification techniques used to predict PyV hosts.
Methods: We collected and used reference sequences of 86 viral species for analysis.

Clinical experience is essential to helping nursing students to achieve and practice professional knowledge and skills. Published reports indicate nursing students often experience incivility during clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to investigate nursing student incivility experience during their clinical rotations and the relationship of these experiences with their critical thinking dispositions.

Background: Polyomaviruses (PyVs) have a wide range of hosts, from humans to fish, and their effects on hosts vary. The differences in the infection characteristics of PyV with respect to the host are assumed to be influenced by the biochemical function of the LT-Ag protein, which is related to the cytopathic effect and tumorigenesis mechanism via interaction with the host protein.
Methods: We carried out a comparative analysis of codon usage patterns of large T-antigens (LT-Ags) of PyVs isolated from various host species and their functional domains and sequence motifs.

Background: Mycoviruses that infect fungi generally do not have a significant effect on the host and, instead, reduce the toxicity of the fungi. However, recent studies have shown that polymycovirus-1, a mycovirus that infects Aspergillus species known to cause disease in humans, is related to increased virulence of the fungus.
Methods: Comparative analysis was performed of RdRP gene codon usage patterns of Aspergillus fumigatus polymycovirus-1 (AfuPmV-1) and other mycoviruses known to infect Aspergillus spp.

[Purpose] We aimed to investigate the effect of resistance training of the orbicularis oris muscles on lip muscle strength and closure function in patients with swallowing disorder with facial palsy after stroke. [Participants and Methods] This study recruited 10 patients with swallowing disorder and facial palsy after stroke. All the participants received orbicularis oris muscle training at an intensity of 70% of 1 repetition maximum by using an Iowa oral performance instrument.

The purpose of this study was to compare the internal gap between CAD/CAM palladium-silver crowns and cast gold crowns generated from intraoral digital versus conventional impressions and to determine the clinical acceptability. Nickel-chrome master dies were made from the prepared resin tooth with the conventional impression method ( = 40). For ICC (Intraoral, CAD/CAM) group, 10 intraoral digital impressions were made, and 10 CAD/CAM crowns of a PD-AG (palladium-silver) machinable alloy were generated.

Nonthermal atmospheric pressure plasma jets (APPJ) have been developed and applied in biomedical research as a cancer treatment or bacterial sterilization. However, the drawback of APPJ on normal oral cells during plasma treatment and underlying cell death mechanisms have not been studied and clearly explained, although there is known to be an influence from reactive oxygen species (ROS). Hence, this study investigates whether and how a nonthermal atmospheric pressure air plasma jet kills human normal gingival cells using immortalized human gingival fibroblasts (hTERT-hNOF cells).

The aim of this study is to quantify the effect of the crystallization process on lithium disilicate ceramic crowns fabricated using a computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) system and to determine whether the effect of crystallization is clinically acceptable by comparing values of fit before and after the crystallization process. The mandibular right first molar was selected as the abutment for the experiments. Fifteen working models were prepared.
