This study aimed to establish a standard treatment for disseminated extranodal large B-cell lymphoma, including intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (DEN-LBCL/IVL), and to validate the clinical diagnostic criteria we proposed. Between 2006 and 2016, 22 patients were enrolled in a clinical trial conducted by the Hokuriku Hematology Oncology Study Group. The first cycle of chemotherapy consisted of dose-reduced cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisolone (CHOP) with delayed administration of rituximab.

Pelvic lymph node dissection (PLND) is important for accurate staging and prognosis of prostate and/or bladder cancer. Several guidelines recommend extended PLND for patients with these cancers. However, the therapeutic benefits of extended PLND are unclear.

In rubber hand illusion, visual information affects tactile information, whereas in the mirror box illusion, visual information has the opposite effect. However, its underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. As one of the reasons, non-invasive neuroimaging techniques, such as functional magnetic resonance, positron emission tomography, and electroencephalography, often fail to detect complex and fragile responses in the sensory-motor cortex.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most refractory malignancies. In situ vaccines (ISV), in which intratumorally injected immunostimulatory adjuvants activate innate immunity at the tumor site, utilize tumor-derived patient-specific antigens, thereby allowing for the development of vaccines in patients themselves. Near-infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR-PIT) is a novel therapy that selectively kills cancer cells exclusively in the NIR-irradiated region.

Purpose: We aimed to predict the neurological prognosis of cardiac arrest (CA) patients using quantitative imaging biomarkers extracted from brain computed tomography images.
Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 86 CA patients (good prognosis, 32; poor prognosis, 54) who were treated at three hospitals between 2017 and 2019. We then extracted 1131 quantitative imaging biomarkers from whole-brain and local volumes of interest in the computed tomography images of the patients.

Background: Supporting smoking cessation at pharmacies can be challenging owing to difficulties in recruiting smokers to participate in cessation programs, insufficient communication skills among pharmacists, and lack of knowledge and self-efficacy in successfully quitting smoking in Japan.
Objective: This study evaluates the effectiveness of a smoking cessation training program on community pharmacists' knowledge, attitude, and self-efficacy in supporting smoking cessation.
Methods: The study, conducted in Japanese pharmacies with 100 community pharmacists, employed a quasi-experimental design.

Aim: The Effect of Intermittent-Scanning Continuous Glucose Monitoring to Glycemic Control Including Hypoglycemia and Quality of Life of Patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (ISCHIA) study was a randomized, crossover trial that reported the decrease in time below range (TBR) by the use of intermittent-scanning continuous glucose monitoring (isCGM) combined with structured education in adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D) treated by multiple daily injections. The participants were instructed to perform frequent scanning of the isCGM sensor (10 times a day or more) and ingest sugar when impending hypoglycemia is suspected by tracking the sensor glucose levels and the trend arrow. We conducted post-hoc analysis to identify factors affecting difference in TBR (∆TBR), in time in range (∆TIR), and in time above range (∆TAR).

Ketone bodies, comprising β-hydroxybutyric acid (BHB), acetoacetate (AcAc), and acetone, play a vital role as essential energy substrates. In individuals with diabetes, ketone bodies can be elevated under various conditions, including diabetic ketoacidosis, use of sodium-glucose transporter type 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, and extreme carbohydrate restriction. There are three methods for measuring ketone bodies.

Unlabelled: Most mesenchymal tumors found in the uterine corpus are benign tumors; however, uterine leiomyosarcoma is a malignant tumor with unknown risk factors that repeatedly recurs and metastasizes. In some cases, the histopathologic findings of uterine leiomyoma and uterine leiomyosarcoma are similar and surgical pathological diagnosis using excised tissue samples is difficult. It is necessary to analyze the risk factors for human uterine leiomyosarcoma and establish diagnostic biomarkers and treatments.

Introduction: Acute stroke rehabilitation is crucial for achieving good functional recovery, even during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study aimed to clarify the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on acute stroke rehabilitation and identify which components in the acute stroke rehabilitation provision system were susceptible to the pandemic.
Methods: A web-based questionnaire survey was conducted in all primary stroke centers (PSCs) in Japan between February 7 and April 21, 2022.

Corticosteroid therapy for oxygen-free coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is not recommended due to its negative prognostic impact, but the efficacy of corticosteroids when limited to COVID-19 pneumonia is unclear. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of corticosteroid monotherapy for patients with COVID-19 pneumonia without supplemental oxygen. We retrospectively reviewed patients with oxygen-free COVID-19 pneumonia at our institute between September 2020 and August 2021 and assessed the use of corticosteroids and the timing of initiation.

Background: (), a bacterium which chronically infects the stomach of approximately half the world's population, is a risk factor for the development of gastric cancer (GC). However, the underlying mechanism whereby infection induces GC development remains unclear. Intermittent injection of the cytotoxin-associated gene A antigen (CagA) protein into its host cell inhibits nuclear translocation of BRCA1/BRCA2, DNA repair proteins involved in the development of breast cancer/ovarian cancer.
