Background: In the conflict-affected setting of Kyiv, Ukraine, managing complex medical interventions presents significant challenges, especially for critically ill pediatric patients. This case report describes the prolonged use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in a 12-year-old girl with severe congenital heart disease, including critical aortic stenosis and myocarditis. In the absence of a transplant system and with limited resources, alternative solutions were explored to balance the high risk of complications and maintain ECMO support over an extended period.

We develop a rapid and spatially controlled formation method of a smooth polycrystalline SnO film preventing the transition to a more stable SnO phase. The phase and structural state of a SnO oxide film, which was formed by pulsed irradiation of a Nd:YAG laser on a tin plate in contact with air and distilled water, were studied. XRD, Raman spectra, and kinetics of the exciton PL under femtosecond excitation showed a more perfect textured structure and strong exciton emission of the SnO film obtained by the laser under the conditions of Sn contact with air.

Research results about the structure, acid-base, redox, and adsorption characteristics of zinc(yttrium)-containing dealuminated BEA zeolites (Si/Al=1000), Zn(Y)SiBEA and their catalytic properties in the propane dehydrogenation with CO (CO-PDH) are presented. The catalysts were prepared through a two-step procedure involving complete dealumination of the BEA zeolite followed by the introduction of Zn and Y cations into vacant T-atom sites, by impregnation. The samples obtained were characterized using XRD, XPS, Si DP MAS NMR, low-temperature N ad/desorption, TPR-H, CH/CH (CO, NH)-TPD, and FTIR-Py techniques.

Objective: The Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 caused a mass displacement of over 6 million people, including many women requiring urgent medical care, such as those with gynecologic malignancies. The disruption of cancer treatment in conflict zones poses critical challenges because timely oncologic care is vital for patient survival. This study, conducted by the European Network of Young Gynecologic Oncologists, aimed to assess the health care responses provided to Ukrainian gynecologic oncology patients across European countries during the first 6 months of the conflict.

The branching fraction ratios of B[over ¯]^{0}→D^{+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ} and B[over ¯]^{0}→D^{*+}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ} decays are measured with respect to their muonic counterparts, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0  fb^{-1} collected by the LHCb experiment in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13  TeV. The reconstructed final states are formed by combining D^{+} mesons with τ^{-}→μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}ν_{τ} candidates, where the D^{+} is reconstructed via the D^{+}→K^{-}π^{+}π^{+} decay.

February 2025

Institute of Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Betty-Heimann-Strasse 3, 06120 Halle, Germany.

Crown root (CR) initiation and development are crucial for the establishment of robust root systems in plants, contributing significantly to stress tolerance and overall growth. This manuscript explores the regulatory roles of key hormones and genes involved in CR formation, with a focus on their interactions under conditions of drought and salt stress. Cytokinins (CK) act as a negative regulator of CR development, while auxin (AUX) serves as a positive driver, facilitating cellular growth and division.
