Objectives: This study aims to assess the correlation between PET/CT and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) parameters in patients with oesophageal cancer.
Patients And Methods: All patients who had complete PET/CT and EUS staging performed for oesophageal cancer at our centre between 2010 and 2016 were included. Images were retrieved and analysed for a range of parameters including tumour length, volume and position relative to the aortic arch.

Objective: Os acromiale (OA) is a failure of complete fusion of the acromial process. It is usually asymptomatic and discovered incidentally. OA can contribute to shoulder impingement symptoms and rotator cuff tears.

Inguinal herniation of urinary bladder is uncommon and usually an incidental finding in asymptomatic patients. In some of these patients, residual urine volume and consequently, urinary tracer activity can be higher in the herniated bladder than the native bladder, in which case interpretation can be challenging on conventional planar imaging. We describe an interesting case of physiological activity in a herniated bladder simulating a "tear-drop".

Severe thrombocytopenia (platelets <50 × 10 /L) is associated with very poor outcome of patients with myelofibrosis (MF). As patients with primary myelofibrosis (PMF) differ from patients with postessential thrombocythemia (PET-MF) and postpolycythemia vera myelofibrosis (PPV-MF), we aimed to evaluate the significance of low platelets among these patients. We present clinical characteristics and outcome of patients with either PMF, PPV-MF, or PET-MF, and thrombocytopenia who presented to our institution between 1984 and 2015.

Additional cytogenetic abnormalities (ACA) are considered a high risk feature in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). However, its prognostic significance at the time of diagnosis in the setting of new tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) is less well understood. Patients with CML in CP with or without ACA at diagnosis treated with frontline TKIs in prospective clinical trials were analyzed for outcomes.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third leading cause of cancer death in the Western world, accounting for approximately 140,000 new cases and more than 51,000 deaths in 2010 in the United States. In Kuwait, CRC is the first most-diagnosed neoplasm among males and overall, the second leading cause of death from cancer. The 5-year survival rate in 2002-2004 was 61% for men and 62% for women.

Objectives: To review the clinico-epidemiologic characteristics of patients who presented with two or more primary cancers, one of which was breast cancer (BC) and to develop a follow-up program for the high risk patients.
Patients And Methods: Patients who were diagnosed with BC and one or more non breast cancer (NBC) were retrospectively reviewed. Medical files were retrieved and epidemiological as well as clinical data were analyzed.

Purpose: The quality of conventional bone scintigraphy can be poor in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Fluorine-18-sodium fluoride (F-NaF) PET-computed tomography (CT) has rapid single-pass extraction, fast clearance from the soft tissues and a better target to background ratio. The aim of the present study is to preliminarily assess the superior tracer kinetics of F-NaF in ESRD patients.

Purpose: Optimizing diagnostic imaging may be challenging in obese patients. The quality of conventional bone scintigraphy can be poor in the morbidly obese due to a combination of factors including high background soft tissue activity. In comparison, sodium fluoride (F-NaF PET-CT) has a better target-to-background ratio attributed to rapid single-pass extraction and fast clearance from the soft tissues.

Background: Fluorine-18-sodium fluoride (F-NaF) PET/CT is an important tool for detecting and evaluating metastatic bone cancer. Besides traditional dose metrics, recent methods such as real-time dose mapping, dose calculation from DICOM information, and their relevance to entrance skin exposure are currently in use to reduce the radiation burden. In this study, we have analyzed the data of 1062 patients retrospectively to evaluate patterns of absorbed dose for institutional weight-based dose protocol as compared with fixed dose method guidelines of Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI).

Purpose: Metaplastic carcinoma of the breast (MBC) accounts for less than 1% of all mammary tumors. This study aimed at revision of the clinico-pathological features, treatment strategy and outcome for MBC patients presented to the Kuwait Cancer Control Center to define the clinical behavior and prognostic factors of these neoplasms in our population.
Patient And Methods: Thirty-one patients were retrieved from our surgical pathology registry between January 2005 and December 2014.

Background: The stratification of outpatients on chemotherapy for breast, colorectal, lung, and ovarian cancers at risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) remains an unmet clinical need. The derivation of a risk assessment model (RAM) for VTE in these patients was the aim of the study "Prospective Comparison of Methods for thromboembolic risk assessment with clinical Perceptions and AwareneSS in real life patients-Cancer Associated Thrombosis" (COMPASS-CAT).
Patients And Methods: The derivation cohort consisted of 1,023 outpatients.

Renal cell carcinoma has the ability to metastasize to any organ; about 16 % of affected patients present initially with metastasis. However, it is rare for this tumor to present with metastasis from an unidentified primary. The current use of immunohistochemistry and molecular genetics has enabled clinicians to reach a precise diagnosis.

Bertolotti syndrome is a form of low-back pain associated with lumbosacral transitional vertebrae. We report a case of a 34-year-old woman with breast cancer presented with severe low-back pain. F-NaF PET/CT demonstrates increased radiotracer uptake at the transverse-sacral articulation corresponding to hemisacralized left transverse process of L5 vertebra.

Background: Many countries in the Eastern Mediterranean region (EMR) are undergoing marked demographic and socioeconomic transitions that are increasing the cancer burden in region. We sought to examine the national cancer incidence and mortality profiles as a support to regional cancer control planning in the EMR.
Methods: GLOBOCAN 2012 data were used to estimate cancer incidence and mortality by country, cancer type, sex and age in 22 EMR countries.

Veno-occlusive disease/sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (VOD/SOS) of the liver is a serious, early complication of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), severe and very severe forms of which are associated with a high mortality rate. A wide variety of patient, disease and treatment-related risk factors for VOD/SOS have been identified. Several bodies have published recommendations for the diagnosis, prevention and management of VOD/SOS following HSCT.

Intrathymic parathyroid adenoma is a rare cause of primary hyperparathyroidism. In this case, Tc-99m Sestamibi SPECT-CT successfully localized abnormal tracer uptake in the mediastinum with corresponding low density lesion on CT images suggestive of mediastinal parathyroid adenoma which late on confirmed on histopathology. After the median sternotomy a large intrathymic parathyroid adenoma was identified and excised.

Ectopic salivary tissue is commonly found in intraparotid and periparotid lymph nodes. Warthin tumor is the most common tumor arising in ectopic salivary gland tissue and in intraparotid lymph nodes. Although rare, neoplastic transformation of the ectopic salivary tissues is conceivable and other types of salivary gland neoplasms arising in intraparotid lymph nodes have been reported.

Malignant trigeminal neuralgia due to perineural spread along the branches of the trigeminal nerve, is known to commonly occur secondary to squamous cell carcinomas, lymphomas and adenoid cystic carcinomas in the head and neck region. Rarely metastases to the trigeminal nerve have been reported in breast cancer, prostate cancer and colon cancer. To the best of our knowledge trigeminal neuropathy due to skull base metastases and perineural spread along the maxillary (V2) and mandibular (V3) branches of the trigeminal nerve, secondary to colon cancer, has not been previously reported.
