Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes mellitus are prominent public health concerns in Saudi Arabia owing to their increasingly high prevalence and burden. Based on this, the Saudi Heart Association (SHA) set out to develop an official position statement on CVD and diabetes mellitus, with a focus on the prevention and management of these conditions and relevant special populations in the context of Saudi Arabia.
Methods: A multidisciplinary panel of experts met under the auspices of the SHA in a series of meetings to review and discuss available evidence on the prevention and management of comorbid CVD and diabetes mellitus.

This study aimed to provide an updated evidence of superior hypophyseal artery (SHA) aneurysms management, including their clinical implications, predictive factors for rupture, therapeutic approaches, and post-treatment outcomes. This systematic review and meta-analysis, following PRISMA guidelines, assessed the literature on superior hypophyseal artery aneurysms. Studies were selected based on predefined criteria, focusing on coiling and clipping interventions.

In response to distinct cellular stresses, the p53 exhibits distinct dynamics. These p53 dynamics subsequently control cell fate. However, different stresses can generate the same p53 dynamics with different cell fate outcomes, suggesting that the integration of dynamic information from other pathways is important for cell fate regulation.

Lidocaine poses challenges when it comes to direct spectrophotometric measurement due to the lack of sharp peak within its spectra in zero-order. This lack of a distinct peak makes it difficult to accurately quantify lidocaine using traditional direct spectrophotometric methods. In our study, different univariate and multivariate spectrophotometric techniques have been established and their validity has been assessed for the determination of the mixture of Lidocaine HCl (LD), Oxytetracycline HCl (OTC) together with LD carcinogenic impurity [2,6- dimethylaniline] DMA.

Mangrove-based carbon market projects (MbCMP) aim to conserve, protect and restore mangrove habitats in order to generate high quality blue carbon credits via a crediting program, as a contribution to climate change mitigation/adaptation, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services provision and local socio-economic development. The blue carbon credits generated are transferable, verifiable and sold through carbon markets to earn additional income for governments and local communities. The main aim of the paper is to provide important considerations for pre-field planning, that is, how challenges associated with fieldwork, project implementation, and monitoring reporting and verification (MRV) can be addressed with proper pre-field planning.

Healthcare practitioners must be trained to collaborate in a dynamic environment where patients are complex and teams can change from day-to-day, but choosing the right measures to assess the effectiveness of interprofessional teamwork among learners is challenging. This study used measures representing four different perspectives to assess student teams in a practice setting where team composition varied each day. We tested the strength of the relationships between these measures, and we examined the impact of additional variables on each measure.

Background: Understanding the determinants of life expectancy (LE) is essential for effective policy planning and enhancing public health in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This study aims to elucidate the complex interactions among sociodemographic (SD), macroeconomic (ME), and health resource (HR) factors that influence LE among the GCC countries.
Methods: We employed a Meta-Analytic Structural Equation Modeling to develop a comparative model across six GCC countries using annual data from 1990 to 2020.

This paper presents a novel investigation of a magnetic sensor that employs Fano/Tamm resonance within the photonic band gap of a one-dimensional crystal structure. The design incorporates a thin layer of gold (Au) alongside a periodic arrangement of Tantalum pentoxide ([Formula: see text]) and Cesium iodide ([Formula: see text]) in the configuration [Formula: see text]. We utilized the transfer matrix method in conjunction with the Drude model to analyze the formation of Fano/Tamm states and the permittivity of the metallic layer, respectively.

We conduct a novel investigation into the effects of uncertain health shocks and medical costs on the life cycle consumption, housing, and saving decisions. Our model aids in understanding the role of health shocks and medical costs after age 70 in explaining the lack of wealth and housing decumulation during retirement. We utilize a comprehensive life-cycle model that includes housing, as well as shocks to house price, labor income, and health.

A simple method for constructing unsymmetrical 2-nitrobiaryls has been developed between substituted 1,4-dithiine-2-carbaldehyde and nitroolefins under metal-free conditions. To gain the advantage of the HOMO-raising effect of temporary substitutions on in situ generated dienamine intermediate, the present protocol established [4+2] benzannulation of 1,4-dithiane-tethered enals with nitroolefin. Further, easy unmasking of 1,4-dithiine units results in a benzannulation product like that of unsubstituted enals, which are difficult to access.

Background And Aims: Overweight and obesity are modifiable risk factors for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) in the general population, but their prevalence in individuals with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia (HeFH) and whether they confer additional risk of ASCVD independent of LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) remains unclear.
Methods: Cross-sectional analysis was conducted in 35 540 patients with HeFH across 50 countries, in the EAS FH Studies Collaboration registry. Prevalence of World Health Organization-defined body mass index categories was investigated in adults (n = 29 265) and children/adolescents (n = 6275); and their association with prevalent ASCVD.

The discovery of novel anti-cancer drugs motivated us to synthesize a new series of triple 1,2,3-triazole-based arm scaffolds featuring distinct un functionalized alkyl and/or aryl side chains with possible anti-cancer action using the click chemistry approach under both conventional and green microwave irradiation (MWI) methods. The Cu(I) catalyzed cycloaddition reaction of targeted tris-alkyne with un functionalized aliphatic and aromatic azides has been adopted as an efficient approach for synthesizing the desired click adducts. Microwave irradiation improved the synthetic processes, resulting in higher yields and faster reaction times.

Human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs), the third most abundant solid component in human milk, vary significantly among women due to factors such as secretor status, race, geography, season, maternal nutrition and weight, gestational age, and delivery method. In recent studies, HMOs have been shown to have a variety of functional roles in the development of infants. Because HMOs are not digested by infants, they act as metabolic substrates for certain bacteria, helping to establish the infant's gut microbiota.

Fucosidosis is a rare lysosomal storage disease caused by α-L-fucosidase deficiency following a mutation in the gene. This enzyme is responsible for breaking down fucose-containing glycoproteins, glycolipids, and oligosaccharides within the lysosome. Mutations in result in either reduced enzyme activity or complete loss of function, leading to the accumulation of fucose-rich substrates in lysosomes.
