[Autoimmune pancreatitis with bowel obstruction caused by proximal jejunal stricture:a case report].

We herein report a rare case of autoimmune pancreatitis with small intestinal obstruction. A 72-year-old male was admitted to our hospital with abdominal fullness and vomiting and diagnosed with autoimmune pancreatitis by imaging and laboratory tests. Imaging studies also revealed narrowing of the proximal jejunum with dilated bowels and intramural cystic lesion adjacent to the pancreatic body.

[THREE CASES OF IATROGENIC URETERAL INJURY ASSOCIATED WITH TOTAL LAPAROSCOPIC HYSTERECTOMY].

We report three cases of iatrogenic ureteral injury associated with total laparoscopic hysterectomy. Case 1 was a 50-year-old woman. She underwent total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) for myoma uteri.

Chemical pleurodesis with autologous blood and freeze-dried concentrated human thrombin improved spontaneous pneumothorax and thoracic endometriosis: The first case involving a pregnant woman.

Objective: Spontaneous pneumothorax combined with thoracic endometriosis is a rare condition during pregnancy. We present a case of chemical pleurodesis with autologous blood and freeze-dried concentrated human thrombin during pregnancy.

Case Report: This report presents a case of spontaneous pneumothorax combined with thoracic endometriosis that arose at 22 weeks' gestation in a 35-year-old female.

[A Case of Metastasis of Cholangiocarcinoma to the Bladder].

The patient was an 88-year-old male. He was referred to the Department of Internal Medicine because of total body itching and jaundice in July 2011. The serum bilirubin level was elevated, and the serum CA19-9 level was also elevated to 266.

Successful treatment of non-tuberculous mycobacterial pleurisy with acute fever by antimycobacterial therapy.

We report two cases of pleurisy caused by non-tuberculous mycobacteria followed by pneumothorax. The onset of pleurisy was accompanied by acute fever. Cultured samples of the pleural effusions from the two patients, an 80-year-old man and an 87-year-old woman, were ultimately found to contain and , respectively.

[FOUR CASES OF THE PROSTATIC ABSCESS IN WHICH DRAINAGE WAS EFFECTIVE].

We encountered four prostatic abscess patients. Although antimicrobial therapies were ineffective, drainage was effective in all cases. Patient 1 had lung cancer and diabetes mellitus (DM), and patient 2 developed acute prostatitis after transrectal prostatic biopsy.

Mycobacterium bovis-induced Aneurysm after Intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guérin Therapy: A Case Study and Literature Review.

Mycobacterium bovis infection after intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) therapy is rare. A 65-year-old Japanese man with history of bladder cancer and intravesical BCG therapy, presented with low-grade fever. An aneurysm with perianeurysmal fluid was suspected and endovascular aortic repair was performed.

Z-score of Mitral Annular Plane Systolic Excursion is a Useful Indicator of Evaluation of Left Ventricular Function in Patients with Acute-Phase Kawasaki Disease.

We previously reported the clinical usefulness of the mitral annular plane systolic excursion (MAPSE) to evaluate the left ventricular (LV) function in patients with Kawasaki disease (KD) in the acute-phase. However, the feasibility of the MAPSE z-score has not been evaluated in patients with acute KD. We prospectively studied 60 KD patients without coronary aneurysms.

Successful Pregnancies and Deliveries in a Patient With Evolving Hypopituitarism due to Pituitary Stalk Transection Syndrome: Role of Growth Hormone Replacement.

We herein report a 31-year-old Japanese woman with evolving hypopituitarism due to pituitary stalk transection syndrome. She had a history of short stature treated with growth hormone (GH) in childhood and had hypothyroidism and primary amenorrhea at 20 years old. Levothyroxine replacement and recombinant follicle stimulating hormone-human chorionic gonadotropin (FSH-hCG) therapy for ovulation induction were started.

We report a 33-year-old male with a left advanced non-seminomatous testicular germ cell tumor (NSGCT) accompanied panic disorder. He had experienced palpitation and hyperpnea in crowds in his twenties. He was admitted to the Department of Otorhinolaryngology with the chief complaint of left neck swelling.

Association between Smoking Status and Obesity in a Nationwide Survey of Japanese Adults.

Objective: A positive association between the number of cigarettes smoked per day and obesity has been reported, whereas how other smoking-related indices, such as pack-years and duration of smoking, are related with obesity has been less investigated. We analyzed the age-adjusted cross-sectional association between smoking and obesity in a general Japanese population.

Methods: We used data from a nationwide epidemiological study of Japanese adults (N = 23,106).

[A Case of Multiple Bevacizumab-Related Colonic Perforations during Opioid Use].

We present the case ofa 54-year-old man who had been treated with bevacizumab-containing chemotherapy for a postoperative recurrence of lung cancer for 5 months; he had used opioids for cancer pain in his right lateral chest for 2 months. He was admitted to the hospital because his chest pain had worsened 5 days earlier and he was experiencing a dull pain in his lower abdomen. His condition was recognized as an aggravation of the cancer pain and his opioid dose was increased.

Dyskeratosis congenita associated with leukoplakia of the tongue.

Dyskeratosis congenita (DC) is an inherited disease characterized by the triad of skin pigmentation, nail dystrophy, and oral leukoplakia. Among other abnormalities, bone marrow failure and a predisposition to cancer are recognized as the major causes of premature mortality in patients with DC. This disease is associated with short telomeres and mutations in 10 genes associated with telomerase and telomere components.

Invasive micropapillary salivary duct carcinoma mixed with mucin-rich salivary duct carcinoma in minor salivary gland: a rare case report.

Background: Invasive micropapillary salivary duct carcinoma (SDC) is a rare variant of SDC. Although several cases involving major salivary glands have been reported, no cases arising de novo in minor salivary glands have been reported to date. Here we report the first case of invasive micropapillary SDC that arose in a minor salivary gland of the parapharyngeal space.

We report a 25-year-old male with multiple visceral injuries accompanied by right renal pedicle injury and left ureteral disruption treated successfully by left ureterocalicostomy. He was accidentally crushed by a roller for fishing net hoists while working as a fisherman in May 2011. He was emergently transported to Kurobe City Hospital.

Case of pituitary stalk transection syndrome ascertained after breech delivery.

Pituitary stalk transection syndrome (PSTS) is a rare complication that can accompany breech delivery. Early diagnosis of this syndrome is difficult, and it may cause a serious delay in the diagnosis. We present a case of PSTS ascertained after breech delivery.

Continuous Vocalization during Kendo Exercises Suppresses Expiration of CO2.

One distinctive trait of kendo, the Japanese martial art of fencing, is the execution of sustained, high-effort vocalizations during actions. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of these vocalizations on respiratory functions. First, the intensity of 3 kendo exercises was quantified by measuring oxygen uptake (V̇O2) and comparing it with V̇O2max measured during treadmill tests of 8 university kendo athletes.

[Examination of outcomes after conversion surgery for Stage IVGastric cancer in our hospital].

Purpose: We examined the outcomes of conversion surgery (CS) for Stage IV gastric cancer performed in our hospital.

Objective And Method: We retrospectively examined the outcomes of 5 Stage IV gastric cancer patients, for whom surgical excision was possible and CS was performed after induction chemotherapy between January 2010 and December 2013.

Results: The median age of the patients who underwent CS was 62 years, and non-recovering factors were as follows: M1 (LYM) for 3 patients, H1 for 1 patient, and P1 for 1 patient.

Pathological features of preclinical or early clinical stages of corticobasal degeneration: a comparison with advanced cases.

Aims: The manner in which pathological lesions of corticobasal degeneration (CBD) progress remains poorly understood. Because the pathology of early disease stages may be fundamental for elucidating a border between clinical and preclinical states of CBD, the present study aimed to detect preclinical or early clinical CBD cases by examining a series of forensic autopsy cases.

Methods: A series of 887 brains from medicolegal autopsies was examined.

We report a case of a 73-year-old male with heterochronous triple urogenital cancer. The patient was referred to our hospital because serum PSA was elevated (7.0 ng/ml) in 1998.

A case of myomatous erythrocytosis syndrome associated with a large uterine leiomyoma.

Several etiologies have been proposed for erythrocytosis associated with uterine leiomyoma. We report a case of erythrocytosis associated with a large uterine leiomyoma, in which specific immunostaining for erythropoietin was positive. A 55-year-old woman, gravida 0, para 0, was referred to our hospital for treatment for a large uterine myoma and erythrocytosis.

[A case of recurrent breast cancer that responded to bevacizumab].

We report a case of a 59-year-old woman who was forced to undergo mastectomy of the right breast (Rt Bt) plus axillary lymph node (Ax) dissection for right breast cancer at another hospital. The pathological diagnosis was invasive ductal carcinoma( scirrhou[s sci], pT2N2M0, Stage IIIA, estrogen recepto[r ER[]+], progesterone recepto[r PgR[]+], human epidermal growth factor receptor-2[HER2][2+]). Although no recurrence was observed after postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy and endocrine therapy, skin metastasis on the left back and pleuritis carcinomatosa were detected at our hospital 9 years and 6 months after the operation.
