Pyroptosis is a distinct form of programmed cell death in eukaryotic cells that has garnered increasing attention in cancer-related research. Moreover, although miR-21 has been reported as abnormally expressed in colorectal cancer, due to a lack of in-depth research on the transcriptional regulation mechanisms of miR-21, its clinical usage remains limited. Our study is the first, to our knowledge, to compare the clinical manifestations and laboratory phenotypes associated with miR-21-3p and miR-21-5p.

Survivin is an anti-apoptosis protein that may be associated with the development of eosinophilia; the latter is associated with the pathogenesis of many immune disorders. Here we report that less apoptotic eosinophils (Eos) were induced in those isolated from mice suffering from food allergy (FA) than those from naive mice after treating with cisplatin in vitro. Exposure to cisplatin induced more Fas ligand (FasL) expression in Eos isolated from naive mice than in those of FA mouse.

Lysine-specific demethylase 1 (LSD1), which specifically demethylates histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4) and lysine 9 (H3K9), is dysregulated in several cancers. We found that ectopic expression of LSD1 in cervical cancer cells promoted invasion and metastasis in vitro and in vivo, reduced the expression of the epithelial marker E-cadherin, and induced the expression of the mesenchymal marker, Vimentin. By contrast, LSD1 knockdown had the opposite effect and attenuated the HPV16 E7-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT).

High-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) infections are among the most important factors for cervical carcinogenesis. However, whether patients infected with HR-HPV eventually develop a malignant tumor, largely depends on epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), which plays an extraordinary role in the process of carcinogenesis and metastasis. Therefore, we evaluated the protein levels of EMT-related genes in normal cervical squamous epithelium, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), and cervical squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) by tissue microarray and immunohistochemical staining.

Our previous studies have showed that Gankyrin expression is correlated with a malignant phenotype in endometrial carcinoma. Here, we investigated the possible role of Gankyrin in cervical disease. The increasing protein level of Gankyrin was observed in high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and carcinoma compared with benign cervical tissues and low-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia.

Aim: To detect the expression of huCdc7 in colorectal cancer.
Methods: The mRNA and protein expression of huCdc7 in 39 colorectal cancer tissue specimens and matched tumor-adjacent normal colorectal tissue specimens was detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry, respectively.
Results: The relative expression level of huCdc7 mRNA in colorectal cancer was significantly higher than that in tumor-adjacent normal colorectal tissues (0.
