Peroxiredoxin 2 (PRDX2) is an antioxidant enzyme that has been reported to be overexpressed in various cancers. However, the role of PRDX2 in gastric cancer progression and its underlying mechanism remains unclear. Herein, we revealed the function of PRDX2 in gastric cancer progression and explored its molecule mechanism.

Objective: In this cross-sectional study including patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) we aimed to explore the relationship between serum 25-hydroxy vitamin (25(OH)D) level and liver steatosis and fibrosis in the Chinese population.
Methods: Patients visiting 16 clinical centers with T2DM were recruited. Their liver steatosis and fibrosis status were then assessed using elastography.

Recent studies of animal models reported Nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) as a potential therapeutic target for preventing alcohol-associated fatty liver (AFL), yet its efficacy and safety in humans remain unknown. We aim to estimate the effectiveness and safety of inhibiting NNMT in humans. We leveraged Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) data coupled with genetic information to perform a retrospective drug target validation study.

Background And Purpose: The extent to which the effects of BMI on cholelithiasis are mediated by metabolic factors (including blood pressure, blood lipids, body mass, and fasting blood glucose) is unclear. Therefore, in this study, the authors used genetic evidence to test the effects of these characteristics.
Methods: Summary-level data for exposures and main outcomes were extracted from GWAS consortia.

Purpose: Insulin resistance is associated with kidney impairment in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The triglyceride glucose-body mass index (TyG-BMI), which combines the TyG index with body mass index (BMI), has received significant attention as a tool for evaluating insulin resistance. Thus, the aim of this study was to explore the association between TyG-BMI and kidney impairment in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Insulin resistance (IR) is the major mechanism in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Early identification of IR is of great significance for preventing the onset of T2DM and delaying the progression of the disease. Previous studies have shown that triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index can be used as an effective surrogate marker for IR.

Neurological disorders and pain are prevalent clinical issues that severely impact patients' quality of life and daily functioning. With the advancing exploration of these disease mechanisms, G protein-coupled receptor 37 (GPR37) has emerged as a critical protein, garnering widespread attention in the scientific community. As a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family, GPR37 features a seven-transmembrane helix structure and is widely expressed in various brain regions, including the substantia nigra and striatum.

Ferroptosis is a lipid peroxidation-driven and iron-dependent form of programmed cell death, which is involved in a variety of physical processes and multiple diseases. Numerous reports have demonstrated that ferroptosis is closely related to the pathophysiological processes of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis) infection and is characterized by the accumulation of excess lipid peroxides on the cell membrane.

CD36 is a scavenger receptor that has been reported to function as a signaling receptor that responds to pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) and could integrate metabolic pathways and cell signaling through its dual functions. Thereby influencing activation to regulate the immune response and immune cell differentiation. Recent studies have revealed that CD36 plays critical roles in the process of lipid metabolism, inflammatory response and immune process caused by infection.

Background: Postoperative delirium (POD) and cognitive dysfunction (POCD) are common complications following thoracic surgery, particularly in patients aged 65 years and above. These complications can significantly affect recovery and increase healthcare costs. This study investigates the effects of low-dose S-ketamine on reducing POD and POCD in this patient demographic.

Background: Predicting hypoglycemia while maintaining a low false alarm rate is a challenge for the wide adoption of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices in diabetes management. One small study suggested that a deep learning model based on the long short-term memory (LSTM) network had better performance in hypoglycemia prediction than traditional machine learning algorithms in European patients with type 1 diabetes. However, given that many well-recognized deep learning models perform poorly outside the training setting, it remains unclear whether the LSTM model could be generalized to different populations or patients with other diabetes subtypes.

Macrophages are present in many mechanically active tissues and are often subjected to varying degrees of mechanical stimulation. Macrophages play a crucial role in resisting pathogen invasion and maintaining tissue homeostasis. Piezo-type mechanosensitive channel component 1 (Piezo1) is the main cation channel involved in the rapid response to mechanical stimuli in mammals.

Keloids pose a significant dermatological challenge, marked by abnormal fibroblast proliferation and excessive collagen deposition in response to skin injury or trauma. In the present study, we introduce DMC-HA, a derivative of Curcumin, as a promising candidate for keloid treatment. DMC-HA is poised to provide superior therapeutic benefits compared to Curcumin due to its structural modifications.

Exosomes as double-membrane vesicles contain various contents of lipids, proteins, mRNAs and non-coding RNAs, and involve in multiple physiological processes, for instance intercellular communication and immunomodulation. Currently, numerous studies found that the components of exosomal proteins, nucleic acids or lipids released from host cells are altered following infection with . Exosomal contents provide excellent biomarkers for the auxiliary diagnosis, efficacy evaluation, and prognosis of tuberculosis.

Background: Observational studies suggested a close link between type 2 diabetes (T2D), metabolic factors and depression, while the causal relationships remained poorly understood.
Objective: To determine the causality between T2D and depression, and to investigate the roles of metabolic factors in mediating the relationship between T2D and depression in East Asians.
Methods: Using summary statistics from the largest and most up-to-date genome-wide association studies of depression (12,588 cases and 85,914 controls) and T2D (36,614 cases and 155,150 controls) among East Asians, two-step and two-sample MR analyses were performed to estimate the causal mediation effects of metabolic factors including lipid profiles, blood pressure (BP) and fasting insulin (FI) on the relationship between T2D and depression.
