Purpose: While asthma comorbidities are associated with higher health care utilisation, lower quality of life and poorer asthma control, the impact of asthma comorbidities on hospitalisation for asthma exacerbation (H-AX) remains less recognised. We aim to analyse the impact of asthma comorbidities on H-AX.
Methods: Based on a national survey on asthma control and disease perception (CARN 2015 study), we analysed the impact of comorbidities on annual incidence and frequency of H-AX in China.

Purpose: Details of patients hospitalized for asthma exacerbation in mainland China are lacking. To improve disease control and reduce economic burden, a large sample survey among this patient population is indispensable. This study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and outcomes of such patients.

To understand the seasonal distribution of patient hospitalization due to asthma exacerbation in 7 geographic areas in China. This was a retrospective study which involved patients hospitalized for asthma exacerbation in 29 hospitals throughout 7 geographic areas in the mainland of China (northeast, north, central, east, south, northwest and southwest). The numbers of asthmatic patients and total inpatients of the respiratory department of each hospital were recorded.

Objective: Leptin may be associated with cardiovascular disease. We tested to determine whether leptin is a marker for first-ever acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in a nested case-referent study.
Methods: Consecutive patients with first-ever AIS from May 2017 to December 2017 were included.

A fundamental element of acute lung injury (ALI) is the inflammatory response, which can affect the entire respiratory system, including the respiratory tract and alveoli. Berberine has gained attention because of its anti-inflammatory effects. Nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress are involved in lung injury.

18F-FDG has low uptake and poor diagnostic efficiency in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), particularly in well-differentiated HCC. The NGR peptide selectively targets CD13, which is overexpressed in many types of tumor cells as well as neovasculature cells. In the present study, we aimed to evaluate the feasibility of utilizing 68Ga-NGR to image CD13-positive well-differentiated HCC xenografts.

The aim of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of Ga-labeled iNGR, containing Asn-Gly-Arg (NGR) homing sequence and CendR (R/KXXR/K) penetrating motif, as a new molecular probe for microPET imaging of CD13-positive xenografts. The synthesized iNGR and NGR peptides were conjugated with DOTA and then labeled with Ga. Ga-iNGR and Ga-NGR were compared in the performance of the in vitro stability, partition coefficient, binding affinity, cell uptake analysis, in vivo microPET imaging, and biodistribution studies in CD13-positive HT-1080 and CD13-negative HT-29 cell lines.

Objective: Low vitamin D levels had been shown to play a role in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS). Currently, there is little information regarding the correlation between levels of vitamin D and MS in Chinese. This study aimed at detection of association between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH) D] concentrations and MS and its relation to the disease severity in Chinese.

A novel approach to fabricate a label-free amperometric immunosensor for the detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) was described. Herein, methylene blue (MB), gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and carcinoembryonic antibody (anti-CEA) were layer-by-layer assembled on the graphene-Nafion nanocomposite film-modified electrode by means of a self-assembling technique and the opposite-charged adsorption. Subsequently, the stepwise self-assembling procedure of the immunosensor was further characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
