Background: Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare lymphoid malignancy. Systemic profiling of the PCNSL tumor microenvironment (TME) was previously conducted through gene expression analysis. We investigated the prognostic impact of TME on survival to establish novel prognostic biomarkers in PCNSL patients.

Background: This study aimed to determine whether spectral imaging with dual-energy computed tomography (CT) can improve diagnostic performance for coronary plaque characterization.
Methods And Results: We conducted a retrospective analysis of 30 patients with coronary plaques, using coronary CT angiography (dual-layer CT) and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) studies. Based on IVUS findings, patients were diagnosed with either vulnerable or stable plaques.

Objectives: C-reactive protein (CRP) is a well-known acute-phase protein that increases remarkably under various inflammatory conditions and is elevated in patients with malignant tumors. In this study, we investigated the influence of CRP on the tumor microenvironment in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC).
Methods: This study explored CRP's role in ccRCC by co-culturing human macrophages with ccRCC cells and employing antibody blocking, RNA sequencing and experiments for functional insights.

Background: Data on the impact of valve position on clinical outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and bioprosthetic valves (BPVs) are limited.
Methods And Results: The BPV-AF Registry was a multicenter, prospective, observational study involving 894 patients with BPVs and AF. In this post-hoc substudy, patients were classified according to BPV position: aortic (n=588; 65.

In this study, a series of eighteen fluorene-containing substituted thiazole derivatives were synthesized and characterized spectral analyses. The proposed compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activity, and it was found that compound 2a displayed a significant zone of inhibition (20.3 ± 0.

Background: Mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) induces cardiac inflammation cooperatively with nuclear factor-κB and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3); MR blockers exert anti-inflammatory effects. However, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. We investigated the anti-inflammatory effect of esaxerenone, a novel MR blocker, in experimental myocardial infarction (MI) and its underlying mechanisms.

Purpose: Textbook outcome (TO) is a composite quality measurement of outcomes for evaluating surgical procedures. We investigated whether TO can be used to predict outcomes after curative resection for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in elderly patients.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 105 patients who underwent curative esophagectomy for ESCC from 2005 to 2020.

Background: Because the clinical benefit of antiplatelet therapy (APT) for patients with nonsignificant coronary artery disease (CAD) remains poorly understood, we evaluated it in patients after fractional flow reserve (FFR)-guided deferral of revascularization.
Methods And Results: From the J-CONFIRM (Long-Term Outcomes of Japanese Patients with Deferral of Coronary Intervention Based on Fractional Flow Reserve in Multicenter Registry), we investigated 265 patients with deferred lesions who did not require APT for secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. A 2-year landmark analysis assessed the relationship between APT at 2 years and 5-year major cardiac adverse events (MACE: composite of all-cause death, target vessel-related myocardial infarction, clinically driven target vessel revascularization).

Background: Distal pancreatectomy (DP) with lymph node (LN) dissection is the standard procedure for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma of the tail (Pt-PDAC). However, the optimal surgery including extent of LN dissection is still being debated. The present study investigated the incidence and prognostic impact of LN metastasis on patients suffering from Pt-PDAC.

Background: Although tafamidis treatment improves prognosis in patients with wild-type transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy, an optimal surrogate marker monitoring its therapeutic effect remains unclear. This study investigated the association between changes in cardiac biomarkers, high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) and B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) during the first year after tafamidis treatment and clinical outcomes.
Methods And Results: In 101 patients with wild-type transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy receiving tafamidis at our institution, change in cardiac biomarkers from baseline to 1 year after tafamidis administration and its association with composite outcomes (composite of all-cause death and hospitalization attributable to heart failure) was assessed.
Cardiomyopathy is a rare but serious complication associated with neuroblastoma. The brain natriuretic peptide level led to a diagnosis of secondary dilated cardiomyopathy before the worsening of heart failure symptoms.

Key Clinical Message: Pseudohypoaldosteronism (PHA) carries a good prognosis if treated early and appropriately, but some cases can have life-threatening events. We underscored the need to consider secondary PHA as one of the differential diagnoses of hyponatremia and hyperkalemia in infancy.
Abstract: Pseudohypoaldosteronism (PHA) type 1 has two classifications; the primary type, caused by genetic abnormalities that develop during neonatal and infancy periods, and the secondary type, caused by urinary tract malformation and urinary tract infection.

Neither the efficacy nor safety of elobixibat has been investigated in the treatment of chronic constipation in patients with heart failure (HF). In this prospective, single-center, single-arm study elobixibat (10 mg/day) was administered for 12 weeks to 18 HF patients with chronic constipation defined according to the Rome IV criteria. Spontaneous bowel movement (SBM), stool consistency as measured by the Bristol Stool Form Scale, and degree of straining during defecation were recorded.

Background: The development and improved response to chemotherapy has resulted in a survival benefit of conversion surgery (CS) for advanced gastric cancer (GC). However, this benefit is limited in some cases, such as in those with very early recurrence (VER). This study investigated the relationship between outcome and clinicopathological characteristics after CS for stage IV GC, and the risk factors for VER after CS.

From the J-CONFIRM registry (long-term outcomes of Japanese patients with deferral of coronary intervention based on FFR in a multicenter registry), this study included 432 lesions from 385 patients (men, 323 lesions in 286 patients; women, 109 lesions in 99 patients) with paired data of FFR and iFR. The primary endpoint was the cumulative 5-year incidence of target vessel failure (TVF), including cardiac death, target vessel-related myocardial infarction, and clinically driven target vessel revascularization.

Background: Total body water (TBW) fraction, which accounts for 60% of body weight, is an important indicator of body composition, and the extracellular water to TBW ratio (ECW/TBW) is reportedly useful in predicting clinical outcomes of patients with organ disorders. We aimed to clarify the clinical impact of preoperative ECW/TBW status on survival outcomes in cancer patients.
Methods: We used a database of 320 colorectal cancer (CRC) patients who underwent potentially curative resections.
