Sarcocystis fayeri is a newly discovered foodborne pathogen linked to eating raw horse meat.
The traditional testing methods recommended in Japan are lengthy, costly, and require specialized knowledge, making them impractical for routine checks.
A new rapid testing method using LAMP has been developed, which is fast, affordable, and effective, able to detect S. fayeri concentrations above 10^4 copies/g, making it suitable for regular sanitary monitoring.
