In forensic investigations, human keratinized tissues like skin and nails are commonly encountered as trace evidence, yet the use of vibrational spectroscopy for their identification and differentiation has been underexplored. This research utilized ATR-FTIR to distinguish between human nails and skin samples collected from a group of 50 participants, employing advanced chemometric analysis techniques. The spectral signatures of human keratinized tissues, such as nails and skin, exhibit similarities consistent with previous studies.

This study synthesizes and characterizes beta-carotene-coated ZnO NPs (BT-ZnO NPs) for potential anti-cancer and antimicrobial applications, demonstrating significant efficacy against dental pathogens and oral cancer cells. Scanning Electron Microscopy, EDAX, UV, FTIR, XRD, and Zeta potential analysis of prepared BT-ZnO NPs revealed uniform flower-like crystalline structures with intricate morphology and an average particle size of 38.

The fungus Candida albicans is a prominent cariogenic fungal agent that works in association with Streptococcus mutans to accelerate the formation of oral cancer and tooth decay. This study evaluates caffeine-encapsulated titanium oxide nanoparticles (CF-TiO NPs) for their potential to prevent biofilm formation on teeth and enhance oral anticancer treatment by influencing apoptotic gene regulation. The synthesized CF-TiO NPs were characterized using ultraviolet, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy analyses, and their antioxidant activity was confirmed through free radical quenching studies.

Novel three-phase polymer nanocomposites (PNCs) based on cerium oxide (CeO) nanoparticles (NPs) and graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) incorporated in a poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) matrix were formulated using a solution-casting approach. To understand the structural and morphological features of PVDF/CeO/GNP nanocomposites (NCs), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) analyses were accomplished. The PVDF/CeO/GNP NCs displayed improved thermal stability which resulted from strong bonding between GNPs and CeO NPs and restriction of the polymer chain movement.

The main objective of the present research work is to assess the biological properties of the aqueous plant extract (ACAE) synthesised silver nanoparticles from the herbal plant , and their biological applications. The silver nanoparticle syntheses from Ageratum conyzoides (Ac-AgNPs) were optimised with different parameters, such as pH (2, 4, 6, 8 and 10) and varied silver nitrate concentration (1 mM and 5 mM). Based on the UV-vis spectroscopy analysis of the synthesised silver nanoparticles, the concentration of 5 mM with the pH at 8 was recorded as the peak reduction at 400 nm; and these conditions were optimized were used for further studies.

Arsenic (As) resistant indigenous bacteria with discrete minimum inhibitory concentration values for arsenate [As(V)] and arsenite [As(III)] were isolated from the paddy fields of different regions of Chhattisgarh, India, following enrichment culture technique.
