Department of Musculoskeletal Sciences, Krishna College of Physiotherapy, Krishna Vishwa Vidyapeeth, Deemed to be University (KIMSDU), Karad, IND.

Introduction: Chronic ankle instability (CAI) is a disease characterized by persistent feelings of instability in the ankle joint and a propensity for recurrent ankle sprains. It is often caused by ligamentous laxity or neuromuscular deficits. Middle-aged obese females represent a demographic subset at increased risk for CAI due to factors such as reduced proprioception and increased loading on the ankle joint.

Background A major development in noninvasive imaging modalities, computed tomographic enterography (CTE) has a number of benefits over conventional computed tomography (CT) and capsule endoscopy. Through the utilization of multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) technology, CTE expedites the assessment of small bowel diseases, especially in those segments that are not accessible through traditional endoscopy. This study's main goal is to thoroughly evaluate CTE's diagnostic accuracy for a range of small intestinal conditions.

May 2024

Department of Pharmacology, Krishna Institute of medical sciences, Krishna Vishwa Vidyapeeth (Deemed To Be University), Karad, Maharashtra, India, 415539. Electronic address:

Chitosan has received much more attention as a functional biopolymer with applications in pharmaceuticals, agricultural, drug delivery systems and cosmetics. The objectives of present investigation were to carry out modification of chitosan for enhancement of aqueous solubility, which will impart increased solubility and dissolution rate of poorly soluble drug itraconazole (ITZ) and also evaluate the modified chitosan for soyabean seed germination studies. The modification of chitosan was accomplished through the antisolvent precipitation method; employing five carboxylic acids.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the relationship between genetic variations in Cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes and the risk of gastrointestinal (GI) cancer in a rural population of Maharashtra, focusing on specific gene polymorphisms.
  • Using a case-control design with 200 GI cancer patients and 200 healthy controls, the researchers employed the PCR-RFLP method to analyze single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in several CYP genes.
  • The results highlight that the variant allele of CYP2B6*5 is significantly linked to an increased risk of GI cancer, while certain alleles of CYP1B1 show a protective effect against the disease.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic condition causing joint pain and inflammation that has now spurred the interest in nanotechnology-based drug delivery for more effective treatment, and in this regard, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are being explored for their potential to deliver the drugs steadily to manage the RA. Many investigators have been investigating both single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) as well as multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) for managing arthritis via targeted drug delivery. Moreover, functionalized CNTs show promise in delivering the drugs precisely and in a controlled manner, thereby minimizing toxicity.

Background: Last few decades, multiple studies all over the world revealed the association of genetic polymorphism in cytochrome P450 (CYP) genes with risk of developing different type of cancers, but contradictory outcomes were evidenced in case of cervical cancer (CC) risk. Therefore, the discrepancies in earlier reports influenced us to evaluate the association of CYP1A1*2A rs4646903, CYP1B1*3 rs1056836, CYP2C8*2 rs11572103, CYP2C9*2 rs1799853, CYP2C9*3 rs1057910, and CYP2C19*2 rs4244285 polymorphisms and CC susceptibility in the women of rural population of Maharashtra.

Materials And Methods: In this case-control study, genetic association of the polymorphisms in CYP genes was studied by using polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method.

Introduction: "Distal end radius fractures" account for almost 16% of all fractures and are the most common kind of upper limb fractures treated in hospital emergency departments. "Distal end radial fractures" occur more often in younger people due to high-energy trauma than in older people due to low-energy trauma. When comparing women and men of the same age, proximal end radii fracture are more prevalent in women than men owing to significant osteoporosis and a higher tendency for accidents in older women.
