Although nanoparticles of heavy metal xanthates and their hydrosols can play important roles in froth flotation, environmental issues, analytics, and manufacturing of metal sulfide nanocomposites, they have received little attention. We studied colloidal solutions and immobilized particles prepared via interaction of aqueous lead nitrate with alkyl xanthates applying UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, zeta potential measurement, thermogravimetry analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman scattering, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The hydrodynamic diameter of colloidal particles of Pb(SSCOR) decreased from 500 to 50 nm with an increase in the alkyl radical length and the initial xanthate to lead ratio (X/Pb); the zeta potential magnitude varied similarly, although it remained negative.

The dependency of orientational structures in cholesteric droplets with homeotropic surface anchoring on the helicity parameter has been studied by experiment and simulations. We have observed a sequence of structures, in which the director configurations and topological defects were identified by comparison of polarized microscopy pictures with simulated textures. A toron-like and low-symmetry intermediate layer-like structures have been revealed and studied in detail.

Some methods of nucleic acids testing are used to identify CALR gene mutations with different requirements for special skills of personnel and expensive equipment. The purpose of this work is to compare the results of the detection of CALR gene mutations in venous blood samples by allele-specific RT-PCR with subsequent electrophoresis, fragment analysis and Sanger- or pyro- sequencing.

The behavior of the resistivity and thermopower of the GdSrFeO ferrite samples with a perovskite structure and the sample stability in an inert gas atmosphere in the temperature range of 300⁻800 K have been examined. It has been established that, in the investigated temperature range, the thermoelectric properties in the heating‒cooling mode are stabilized at ≥ 0.21.

The morphotypes of human macrophages (MPh) were studied in the culture on nano-structured biopolymer substrates, made from polyhydroxyalcanoates (PHAs) of five various monomer compositions, followed by the solvent evaporation. Its surface relief, which was further in direct contact with human cells was analyzed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was shown, that the features of the micro/nano relief depend on the monomeric composition of the polymer substrates.

There is rapidly increasing evidence that nanoscale temperature heterogeneities are involved in important biological processes. Combining nanoheating and nanoscale thermosensors forms the basis of emerging unique methods of cell therapy, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. Understanding corresponding phenomena seems to require a mesoscopic nonequilibrium hydrodynamic theory.

Exploring new perovskite-related solid-state materials and the investigating composition-dependent structural and physical properties are highly important for advanced functional material development. Herein, we present the successful hydrothermal synthesis of tetragonal CsPbCl and the anion-exchange phase formation of CsPb(ClBr ) ( x = 0-1) solid solutions. The CsPb(ClBr ) crystal structures, which crystallize in the tetragonal system, space group I4/ mcm, with parameters similar to those of CsPbCl, have been determined by Rietveld analysis.

The validity of the competitive exclusion principle (the Gause's principle) at one metabolic regulation factor is demonstrated for a general model of two-species community. The competitive exclusion principle postulates that a long-term coexistence of species is impossible if their number exceeds the number of density-dependent growth-regulating factors. Previously, this principle was proved for the stationary states in a general model of a community with any number of factors.

Polymer-dispersed liquid crystal composites have been a focus of study for a long time for their unique electro-optical properties and manufacturing by "bottom-up" techniques at large scales. In this paper, nematic liquid crystal oblate droplets with conical boundary conditions (CBCs) under the action of electric field were studied by computer simulations and polarized optical microscopy. Droplets with CBCs were shown to prefer an axial-bipolar structure, which combines a pair of boojums and circular disclinations on a surface.

In model experiments in vitro, the applicability of the EPR spectrometry method for the detection of modified nanodiamonds (MNDs) in blood and homogenates of mouse organs has been established. A characteristic signal (g = 2.003, ΔH ≈ 10 G) is observed in the samples of biomaterials containing MNDs, the intensity of which increases linearly with the concentration of nanoparticles in the range of 1.

Optical textures and appropriate orientational structures have been studied within droplets of chiral nematic dispersed in polymer assigning the homeotropic anchoring. The helix axis of the chiral structure inside droplets forms the bipolar configuration. The optical droplet textures were analysed in the unpolarised light, analyser switching-off scheme and in crossed polarisers.

The polarization exchange effect in a twisted-nematic Fabry-Pérot resonator is experimentally confirmed in the regimes of both uniform and electric-field-deformed twisted structures. The polarization of output light in the transmission peaks is shown to be linear rather than elliptical. The polarization deflection from the nematic director grows from 0^{∘} to 90^{∘} angle and exchanges the longitudinal and transverse directions.

In this work, we investigated the activity of the key NAD(P)-dependent dehydrogenases associated with macrophage tumors in mice with Ehrlich ascites carcinoma. It was shown that cancer grow is associated with the development of conditions in macrophages leading to a decrease in the substrate flow intensity in the tricarboxylic acid cycle, deceleration of oxidative deamination of L-glutamate, NADP regeneration, and a decrease in the antioxidant defense efficiency. There results are consistent with our recent concept on the nonspecific metabolic reaction of cells to extreme exposures.

Daily exposure of mouse recipients of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma to electromagnetic radiation of the microwave range leads to a change in the dynamics of tumor growth by decreasing the total number of cells. The number of tumor cells with blebbing morphological signs after microwave radiation increases gradually with tumor growth. The maximum content of tumor cells in the state of blebbing is observed during active proliferation in tumor-recipient mice of the control group (without irradiation).

The (1)H, (13)C and (15)N nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) identification of a synthetic cannabinoid compound has been conducted. It was shown that this compound cannot be reliably distinguished from the closely related quinolin-8-yl indole-3-carboxylic acid derivative by an automatic search in MS library. Structural difference of the studied compound and known illicit compounds has been determined using 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy.

Alignment of nematic liquid crystals on polycarbonate films obtained with the use of solvents with different solvations is studied. Domain structures occurring during the growth on the polymer surface against the background of the initial thread-like or schlieren texture are demonstrated. It is established by optical methods that the domains are stable formations visualizing the polymer surface structures.

Defect modes are investigated in a band gap of an electrically tunable one-dimensional photonic crystal infiltrated with a twisted-nematic liquid crystal. Their frequency shift and interference under applied voltage are studied both experimentally and theoretically. We deal with the case where the defect layer thickness is much larger than the wavelength (i.
