Unlabelled: Polypous rhinosinusitis (PRS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, characterized by the formation and recurrent growth of polyps. Often, PRS is a manifestation of the most severe clinical symptom complex - the asthmatic triad (AT). AT is characterized by three main clinical manifestations: bronchial asthma (BA) itself, PRS, intolerance to acetylsalicylic acid, other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and NA.

Hybrid Tamm and quasi-BIC microcavity modes.

Nanoscale

October 2023

Kirensky Institute of Physics, Federal Research Center KSC SB RAS, Krasnoyarsk, 660036 Russia.

The microcavity in the form of a liquid crystal defect layer embedded in a one-dimensional photonic crystal is considered. The microcavity mode has a tunable radiation decay rate in the vicinity of a bound state in the continuum. It is demonstrated that coupling between the microcavity mode and a Tamm plasmon polariton results in hybrid Tamm-microcavity modes with a tunable factor.

Article Synopsis
  • Low-quality transplants affected by hypoxic injury can result in complications after surgery.
  • This research uses mathematical modeling to analyze how oxygen absorption through the liver impacts its metabolism when oxygen levels are low.
  • Findings indicate that lower oxygenation of the perfusion medium reduces oxygen uptake, requiring more energy for the liver's metabolism, while energy resources are optimally allocated among various metabolic processes.

The composition of fatty acids (FAs) in gametophyte samples of 20 Siberian bryophyte species from four orders of mosses and four orders of liverworts collected in relatively cold months (April and/or October) was examined. FA profiles were obtained using gas chromatography. Thirty-seven FAs were found, from 12:0 to 26:0; they included mono-, polyunsaturated (PUFAs) and rare FAs, such as 22:5n-3 and two acetylenic FAs, 6a,9,12-18:3 and 6a,9,12,15-18:4 (dicranin).

In this paper, both methods (DFT and HF) were used in a theoretical investigation of 3-bromo-2-Hydroxypyridine (3-Br-2HyP) molecules where the molecular structures of the title compound have been optimized. Molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) was computed using the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level of theory. The time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) approach was used to simulate the HOMO (highest occupied molecular orbital) and LUMO (lowest unoccupied molecular orbital) on the one hand to achieve the frontier orbital gap and on the other hand to calculate the UV-visible spectrum of the compound in gas phase and for different solvents.

In this study, we developed a filtering material for facial masks, which is capable of trapping and subsequent inactivation of bacteria under white light emitting diodes (LED) or sunlight irradiation. Such a functionality is achieved via the modification of the composite membrane based on porous polymer with photocatalytic (TiO) and plasmonic (Ag) nanoparticles. The porous polymer is produced by means of a computer numerical control machine, which rolls a photoresist/thermoplastic mixture into a ~20-µm-thick membrane followed by its thermal/ultraviolet (UV) hardening and porosification.

MnGe epitaxial thin films previously grown mainly on Ge substrate have been synthesized on Si(111) using the co-deposition of Mn and Ge at a temperature of 390 °C. RMS roughness decreases by almost a factor of two in the transition from a completely polycrystalline to a highly ordered growth mode. This mode has been stabilized by changing the ratio of the Mn and Ge evaporation rate from the stoichiometric in the buffer layer.

Mixed Co-Ni bimetallic systems with the structure of a solid substitution solution have been synthesized using the supercritical antisolvent precipitation (SAS) method, which uses supercritical CO as an antisolvent. The systems obtained have been characterized in detail using X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and magnetostatic measurements. It has been found that Co-enriched systems have a defective hexagonal close-packed (hcp) structure, which was described by a model which embedded cubic fragments of packaging into a hexagonal close-packed (hcp) structure.

December 2022

Laboratory for Biomolecular and Medical Technologies, Faculty of Medicine, Krasnoyarsk State Medical University, 660022 Krasnoyarsk, Russia.

The hemostasis system is a complex structure that includes the fibrinolysis system, and Yes this is correct coagulation and anticoagulation parts. Due to the multicomponent nature, it becomes relevant to study the key changes in the functioning of signaling pathways, and develop new diagnostic methods and modern drugs with high selectivity. One of the ways to solve this problem is the development of molecular recognition elements capable of blocking one of the hemostasis systems and/or activating another.
