Does bimanual task training benefit manual ability and hand function of children with bilateral spastic cerebral palsy?

Purpose: Sixty percent of children with bilateral cerebral palsy have impaired hand function. The study's purpose was to examine the benefits of bimanual task practice on the manual ability and hand function of children with bilateral spastic cerebral palsy.

Methods: In this pre-post study design, 18 children with bilateral spastic cerebral palsy with an average age of 11.

Understanding ASPECTS of stroke: Inter-rater reliability between emergency medicine physician and radiologist in a rural setup.

Purpose: The purpose is to determine the inter-rater reliability in grading ASPECTS score, between emergency medicine physician at first contact and radiologist among patients with acute ischemic stroke.

Materials And Methods: We conducted a prospective analysis of 765 acute ischemic stroke cases referred to the Department of Radiodiagnosis in a rural-based hospital in South India, during January 2017 to October 2021. Non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) scans of the brain were performed using GE Bright Speed Elite 128 Slice CT Scanner.

Efficacy and Safety of Pregabalin Prolonged Release-Etoricoxib Combination Compared to Etoricoxib for Chronic Low Back Pain: Phase 3, Randomized Study.

Introduction: Currently available treatments for chronic lower back pain (CLBP) do not adequately address both nociceptive and neuropathic components of pain. We evaluated efficacy and safety of fixed-dose combination (FDC) of low-dose pregabalin prolonged release 75 mg-etoricoxib 60 mg to address both pain components.

Methods: This randomized phase 3 trial conducted at 12 centres across India evaluated efficacy (based on mean change in numeric rating scale [NRS], Roland-Morris disability questionnaire [RDQ], visual analogue scale [VAS], patient global impression of improvement [PGI-I], clinical global impression of improvement [CGI-I] and rescue medication consumption) and safety of FDC in comparison to etoricoxib alone in adult patients with CLBP.

Diagnostic Accuracy of Standalone T2 Dixon Sequence Compared with Conventional MRI in Sacroiliitis.

 The aim of this article was to assess the profile of T2-weighted (T2W) multipoint Dixon sequence and conventional sequences in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of sacroiliac joints for the diagnosis of active and chronic sacroiliitis.  Prospective observational study.  Thirty-seven patients with sacroiliitis underwent MRI with conventional coronal oblique short tau inversion recovery, T1W sequences, and T2W multipoint Dixon sequences.

Role of advanced (magnetic resonance) neuroimaging and clinical outcomes in neonatal strokes: Experience from tertiary care center.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to formulate the WFNS Spine Committee guidelines on indications, outcomes, and complications of vertebral augmentation in osteoporotic spine fractures.

Evidence Acquisition: Computerized literature was searched from 2010 to 2021 using keywords "vertebral augmentation," "osteoporotic fracture," "technique," "surgery," "complication," and "outcome." PubMed yielded 92 articles whereas Google scholar resulted in 120 articles.

Evidence Acquisition: A PubMed and Medline search between 2011 and 2021 was conducted using key words. Case reports, experimental studies, papers other than the English language, and unrelated studies were excluded.

LATCH Score for Identification and Correction of Breastfeeding Problems - A Prospective Observational Study.

Objective: To determine early breastfeeding problems using LATCH tool, and analyze the impact of breastfeeding supportive measures in improving LATCH score.

Methods: This prospective study included all inborn term neonates born at our center between September, 2019 and March, 2020. Breastfeeding problems were identified by LATCH score at 6-12h after birth, and were addressed by the study team providing breastfeeding support, education and training to mothers.

A Multicenter Cohort Study From India of ABO-Incompatible Kidney Transplantation in Post-COVID-19 Patients.

Morvan's syndrome (MoS) is a rare, complex neurological disorder characterized by neuromyotonia, neuropsychiatric features, dysautonomia, and neuropathic pain. The majority of MoS cases have a paraneoplastic etiology, most commonly thymoma, usually occurring before the diagnosis of the underlying tumor and showing improvement following surgery. We present a case of 60-year-old patient presenting with suspicious of MoS and autoimmune encephalitis (AE), F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography as single imaging modality detected and confirmed both AE and thymoma.

Susceptibility-Weighted MRI as an Imaging Marker for Reperfusion Injury in Acute Ischemic Stroke Following Mechanical Thrombectomy.

Background/purpose: Following endovascular intervention for stroke, hyperattenuated areas are common in brain parenchyma and it is difficult to differentiate on non-contrast CT whether it is contrast staining or reperfusion hemorrhage. Differentiation between contrast staining from reperfusion hemorrhage is of paramount importance for early initiation of antiplatelets and/or anticoagulants to prevent reocclusion of vessel. This study demonstrates signal characteristics of contrast-staining and reperfusion hemorrhage on susceptibility weighted MRI and its role to differentiate between two.

Prevalence of abnormal liver tests and liver fibrosis among rural adults in low and middle-income country: A cross-sectional study.

Background: Liver disease is the only major chronic disease and mortality is increasing. Earlier detection of liver fibrosis can reduce progression to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Many studies have reported an increased prevalence in liver fibrosis among adults in urban regions but there are few data in physically active rural populations without attributable metabolic risk factors.

Diagnostic and therapeutic application of thoracic epidural in a child with intractable cardiac arrhythmias: A case report.

A 3-year-old boy presented with episodes of uneasiness and transient loss of consciousness. Atrial tachyarrhythmias with rapid ventricular rate was diagnosed and initially unsuccessfully treated with oral antiarrhythmic drugs. Subsequent Holter monitoring revealed ventricular arrhythmias.

The role of third-generation dual-source dual-energy computed tomography in characterizing the composition of renal stones with infrared spectroscopy as the reference standard.

Purpose: The aim of our study was to prospectively evaluate the role of third-generation, dual-source, dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) in the characterization of renal calculi, with ex vivo renal stone evaluation using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (IS) as the reference standard.

Material And Methods: In our study 50 patients with history suggestive of renal calculi were subjected to DECT using 100 kVp and Sn150 kVp. With DECT, renal stone attenuation at low and high kVp was attained, and the attenuation ratios were measured.

Background: There is an enormous knowledge gap on management strategies, clinical outcomes, and follow-up after kidney transplantation (KT) in recipients that have recovered from coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Methods: We conducted a multi-center, retrospective analysis in 23 Indian transplant centres between June 26, 2020 to December 1, 2021 on KT recipients who recovered after COVID-19 infections. Evidence Acquisition: We reviewed the literature of the last ten years using keywords "natural course and osteoporotic vertebral fractures," "epidemiology and osteoporotic vertebral fractures" and "prevention and osteoporotic vertebral fractures." We then discussed the search results to reach an agreement in two consensus meetings on January and February 2021 of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) Spine Committee.
