Liver diseases are a group of major metabolic and immune or inflammation related diseases caused due to various reasons including infection, abnormalities in immune system, genetic defects, and lifestyle habits. However, the cause-effect relationship is not completely understood in liver disease. The role of microbiome, particularly, the role of gut and oral microbiome in liver diseases has been extensively studied in recent years.

Background: Chronic neck pain is known to be caused by the weakness of the deep neck flexors and disturbances in the mechanoreceptors and the proprioceptors of the cervical spine. Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) is hypothesized to balance the relative stiffness and weakness of the muscles and activate the mechanoreceptors and proprioceptors.
Objective: To investigate PNF techniques and the craniocervical flexor training (CCFT) techniques for pain and function in chronic neck pain.

Background: Mobility is a key priority for stroke survivors. Worldwide consensus of standardized outcome instruments for measuring mobility recovery after stroke is an essential milestone to optimize the quality of stroke rehabilitation and recovery studies and to enable data synthesis across trials.
Methods: Using a standardized methodology, which involved convening of 13 worldwide experts in the field of mobility rehabilitation, consensus was established through an defined survey-based approach followed by group discussions.

Background: There is no robust evidence-based data for ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation (ABOiKT) from emerging countries.
Methods: Data from 1759 living donor ABOiKT and 33 157 ABO-compatible kidney transplantations (ABOcKT) performed in India between March 5, 2011, and July 2, 2022, were included in this retrospective, multicenter (n = 25) study. The primary outcomes included management protocols, mortality, graft loss, and biopsy-proven acute rejection (BPAR).

Aluminum phosphide (ALP) is one of the most commonly used pesticides worldwide with high mortality rates primarily due to the production of phosphene gas which causes severe mitochondrial damage leading to refractory myocardial depression, refractory hypotension, severe metabolic acidosis, and acute respiratory distress syndrome.[1] There is no antidote for ALP poisoning and treatment remains mainly supportive. The available literature shows a favorable outcome with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in severely intoxicated patients presenting early with cardiovascular collapse.

Background: The ideal threshold at which surfactant administration in preterm neonates with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is most beneficial is contentious. The aim of this systematic review was to determine the optimal clinical criteria to guide surfactant administration in preterm neonates with RDS.
Methods: The systematic review was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42022309433).

Antiglutamic acid decarboxylase-65 (anti-GAD65) autoantibodies have been identified in variety of rare neurologic disorders most frequently in stiff-person syndrome (SPS), condition characterized by muscle rigidity and overlying painful spasms, typically affecting axial and limb musculature. In anti-GAD65-related neurologic disorder, malignancy screening is often performed with F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG PET/CT). Here, we present an interesting image of 18FFDG PET/CT whole body showing muscle uptake and FDG brain showing thalamic hypometabolism in SPS.

Background: Routine monitoring of gastric residuals in preterm infants on tube feeds is a common practice in neonatal intensive care units used to guide initiation and advancement of enteral feeding. There is a paucity of consensus on whether to re-feed or discard the aspirated gastric residuals. While re-feeding gastric residuals may aid in digestion and promote gastrointestinal motility and maturation by replacing partially digested milk, gastrointestinal enzymes, hormones, and trophic substances, abnormal residuals may result in vomiting, necrotising enterocolitis, or sepsis.

Unlabelled: A previous report from the Indian HIPEC registry showed acceptable early survival and morbidity in patients undergoing cytoreductive surgery (CRS) + / - hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). The goal of this retrospective study was to evaluate the long-term outcomes in these patients. Three hundred seventy-four patients treated from December 2010 to December 2016 and enrolled in the Indian HIPEC registry were included.

Background And Purpose: The objective of this study is to determine the upper limb muscle electromyographic (EMG) activity required during various manual wheelchair transfers in the population of spinal cord injury (SCI).
Methods: This review included observational studies reporting the (EMG) activity of upper limb muscles during wheelchair transfers in people with SCI. We searched electronic databases and reference lists of relevant literature between 1995 and March 2022 with English language limits, yielding 3870 total articles.

Background: Routine monitoring of gastric residual in preterm infants on gavage feeds is a common practice used to guide initiation and advancement of feeds. It is believed that an increase in or an altered gastric residual may be predictive of necrotising enterocolitis (NEC). Withholding monitoring of gastric residual may take away the early indicator and thus may increase the risk of NEC.

Objective: Upper limb recovery is a crucial component of stroke rehabilitation aimed to maximize functional activities and reduce disability. Using both arms post stroke is essential to carry out many functional activities but the evidence on bilateral arm training (BAT) is understudied. To investigate the evidence for efficacy of task-based BAT on upper limb recovery, function, and participation post stroke.

Background: Since its outbreak in early 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has diverted resources from non-urgent and elective procedures, leading to diagnosis and treatment delays, with an increased number of neoplasms at advanced stages worldwide. The aims of this study were to quantify the reduction in surgical activity for indeterminate thyroid nodules during the COVID-19 pandemic; and to evaluate whether delays in surgery led to an increased occurrence of aggressive tumours.
Methods: In this retrospective, international, cross-sectional study, centres were invited to participate in June 22, 2022; each centre joining the study was asked to provide data from medical records on all surgical thyroidectomies consecutively performed from Jan 1, 2019, to Dec 31, 2021.

Catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome (CAPS) is the rare but most severe form of antiphospholipid syndrome with multiple organ ischemia developing over a short period of time. CAPS should be considered when imaging suggests an acute and concurrent multiorgan ischemia, associated with positive antiphospholipid antibodies. As CAPS can have fulminant irreversible complications, its early recognition is important to initiate the treatment promptly.
