Study Design: Randomized controlled trial.
Objectives: In this study, we hypothesize administering fixed-dose intravenous steroid (Methylprednisolone) intraoperatively would reduce neuroinflammation and enhance functional and radiological outcomes in decompressive surgeries for DCM. Primary objectives were to assess effect of intraoperative MP on modified Japanese Orthopedic Association (mJOA) score, Nurick grade, and MRI signal changes.

Case: A 48-year-old man presented with neck pain and torticollis without any neurodeficit. He was diagnosed with C1-C2 tuberculosis with left C1-C2 joint destruction and was immobilized with a halo vest and started on antitubercular treatment (ATT). At the 3-month follow-up, he presented with left hypoglossal nerve palsy (HNP).

Purpose: We retrospectively analyzed a cohort of patients treated at our Centre with bone marrow concentrated (BMC) injection for aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) of the spine, in order to propose this treatment as a valid alternative for the management of ABCs.
Methods: Fourteen patients (6 male, 8 female) were treated between June 2014 to December 2019 with BMC injection for ABC of the spine. The mean age was 15.
Purpose: To document baseline cervical sagittal characteristics in Lenke 1 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients and assess the alteration in these parameters with surgery.
Methods: Pre-operative and 2-year postoperative radiographs of 82 Lenke 1 AIS patients recruited from five hospitals were analysed. Selected radiographic parameters capturing regional and global sagittal alignment were measured.

Background And Objective: Lower back pain in humans has become a major risk. Classical approaches follow a non-invasive imaging technique for the assessment of spinal intervertebral disc (IVDs) abnormalities, where identification and segmentation of discs are done separately, making it a time-consuming phenomenon. This necessitates designing a robust automated and simultaneous IVDs identification and segmentation of multi-modality MRI images.

Dorsal agenesis of the pancreas is a rare entity, with about 100 cases reported. It can be overlooked on ultrasound due to the non visualization of the body and tail of the pancreas. This is due to overlying gas in the stomach, which offers a poor acoustic window and obscures visualization.

Background: Osteoid osteomas (OOs) are benign bone forming tumors that, usually, occur in the extremities, with about 10% of them arising in the spine more commonly in the posterior elements. The aim of this study is to evaluate the long-term results of patients suffering from spinal OO treated with surgery and radiofrequency ablation.
Methods: This was a retrospective comparison analysis of data prospectively collected from 2 cohorts of consecutive patients diagnosed with OO of the spine treated at the same Institute from November 2002 to February 2019.

Osseous metaplasia of inflammatory sinonasal polyp is an extremely rare entity. Correct preoperative diagnosis by noncontrast CT scan is needed to rule out other more common bony neoplasms in paranasal sinuses and for accurate surgical planning. Here, we present a case of 20-year-old patient with an antrochoanal polyp with osseous metaplasia.

Background: Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is a parasitic disease, transmitted by the sand fly species Phlebotomus argentipes in the Indian sub-continent. Effective vector control is highly desirable to reduce vector density and human and vector contact in the endemic communities with the aim to curtail disease transmission. We evaluated the effect of long lasting insecticide treated bed nets (LLIN) and bed nets impregnated with slow-release insecticide tablet K-O TAB 1-2-3 (jointly insecticide-treated nets or ITN) on VL incidence in a highly endemic sub-district (upazila) in Bangladesh.

Background And Aims: In absence of any published standard guideline for sedation or anesthesia practice for prolonged therapeutic "endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP)", safe and cost-effective sedation protocol is the need of the hour. Our study aims to evaluate the efficacy of a dexmedetomidine as an add-on for prolonged deep sedation for ERCP and to compare three deep sedation regimens regarding safety and efficacy.
Material And Methods: Forty-five consecutively enrolled patients planned for therapeutic ERCP and assumed to have prolonged procedural duration (>50 min) were divided into three groups in a randomized assessor blinded fashion.

Background: Over expression of 9-O-acetylated sialoglycoproteins (Neu5,9Ac2-GPs, abbreviated as OAcSGP) has been demonstrated as a disease-associated antigen on the lymphoblasts of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). Achatinin-H, a lectin, has selective affinity towards terminal 9-O-acetylated sialic acids-alpha2-6-Nacetylated galactosamine. Exploring this affinity, enhanced expression of OAcSGP was observed, at the onset of disease, followed by its decrease with chemotherapy and reappearance with relapse.

Isolated circulating immune complexes (CICs) from sera of patients with amoebiasis were characterized to determine Entamoeba histolytica antigens that participate in the disease process. In total, 116 serum samples were collected before starting anti-amoebic therapy, and their CICs were isolated by differential polyethylene glycol precipitation. The presence of amoeba-specific antigens in CICs was detected by antigen capture enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and by immunoblot assay.
