The purpose of the study is to explore the use of Calgary scoring (CS) and Modified Calgary scoring (MCS) in the differentiation of genetic generalized epilepsy and syncope in children. The study involved 117 patients aged < 18 years who presented to our hospital's pediatric neurology outpatient clinic with TLOC between June 2020 and June 2022. In addition to CS and MCS scoring, all patients were subjected to statistical analysis based on their age, sex, number of episodes and distribution during the day, duration of syncope, and family history.

Background: Rotational atherectomy (RA) may cause bradyarrhythmias and transitory atrioventricular block when performed in the right coronary artery (RCA) or a dominant circumflex (CX) coronary artery. However, there are no studies of a solution that can prevent coronary flow deterioration and bradycardia complications that may occur during RA. We aimed to create an alternative rota-flush solution to minimize the risk of bradycardia and complete atrioventricular block (AVB) that can occur during RA.

Objective: In patients with acute myocardial infarction, coronary collateral circulation (CCC) is associated with reduced infarct size, preserved cardiac function, and decreased mortality. An interarm blood pressure difference (IABPD) is shown to be independently associated with cardiovascular and all-cause of mortality. We aimed to determine the effect of IABPD on coronary collateral flow in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) who had undergone primary percutaneous coronary intervention (p-PCI).

With the development of progressive right ventricular dysfunction, pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is one of the causes of type 2 cardiohepatic syndrome (CHS). Risk assessment, timely and effective management are crucial to improve survival in PAH. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the presence of CHS at diagnosis and its association with prognosis in patients with PAH.

Successful reperfusion of myocardial tissue is the goal of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). We aimed to investigate the association between the De Ritis ratio (AST/ALT) and myocardial reperfusion in patients with STEMI who underwent pPCI. We retrospectively investigated 1236 consecutive patients who were hospitalized for STEMI and underwent pPCI.

We aimed to assess the effect of AST/ALT ratio on echocardiographic and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) parameters after COVID-19 patients recover. 87 patients with COVID-19 were included in the study. The patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 pneumonia, but the patients did not need intensive care unit follow-up or non-invasive mechanical ventilation support.

TRA has several advantages over the transfemoral approach, but also some restrictions. The present study compared the efficacy and safety of the traditional proximal transradial approach (pTRA) with a newer technique known as the distal transradial approach (dTRA) for performing a coronary angiography (CAG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Background: Several clinical trials have assessed predictors for atrial fibrillation recurrence following cryoballoon catheter ablation. With these predictors, a practical and new scoring system can be developed to evaluate atrial fibrillation recurrence. The present study aimed to analyze the predictive value of the age, creatinine, and ejection fraction-left atrium score for potential recurrence of atrial fibrillation following cryoballoon catheter ablation in patients with symptomatic paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation.

Persistent hypoglossal artery is a rare primitive anastomose which mainly supplies the posterior cerebral circulation by itself in the case of the absent vertebral arteries. This artery is an embryological remnant and is commonly found incidentally. It originates from the upper cervical vertebra (C1-C2 level) of the internal carotid artery.

Although there is no sign of reinfection, individuals who have a history of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may experience prolonged chest discomfort and shortness of breath on exertion. This study aimed to examine the relationship between atherosclerotic coronary plaque structure and COVID-19. This retrospective cohort comprised 1269 consecutive patients who had coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) for suspected coronary artery disease (CAD) between July 2020 and April 2021.

Background: Although an adopted echocardiography algorithm based on tricuspid regurgitation jet peak velocity and suggestive findings for pulmonary hypertension has been utilized in the non-invasive prediction of pulmonary hypertension probability, the reliability of this approach for the updated hemodynamic definition of pulmonary hypertension remains to be determined. In this study, for the first time, we aimed to evaluate the tricuspid regurgitation jet peak velocity and suggestive findings in predicting the probability of pulmonary hypertension as defined by mean pulmonary arterial pressure > 20 mm Hg and > 25 mm Hg, respectively.
Methods: Our study group was comprised of the retrospectively evaluated 1300 patients (age 53.

Renal artery stenting (RAS) and its effectiveness in the treatment of atherosclerotic renal artery disease are controversial. Catheter-based renal denervation (RDN) has been shown to reduce blood pressure in the treatment of multidrug-resistant hypertension. In this case, we presented the successful regulation of multidrug resistant hypertension after renal denervation in a patient with renal artery stent.

Background: Premature ventricular complex (PVC) is seen in most individuals. It has been shown that the kinetics-tracking index or Kawasaki-Tanaka index (KT index) strongly predicts pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP) by noninvasively. KT index was defined as log10 (active LAEF/minimum LAV index).

Background: An increased premature ventricular complex (PVC) frequency is related to an increased risk of cardiomyopathy. Changes in myocardial work (MW) parameters in patients with PVC may be a predictor of the development of cardiomyopathy.
Methods: The study included 56 patients with PVC and 50 healthy volunteers as a control group.

Introduction: Pericardial drainage can be performed either with pericardiocentesis or pericardial "window" in cases with hemodynamic compromise for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. Awake single-port video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) is an alternative to pericardial window (PW) that has been described only in case reports in the literature. We aimed to analyse a series of patients with chronic, recurrent and/or large pericardial effusions who underwent single-port VATS-PW opening without intubation.

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is an important cause of ICA and perioperative myocardial infarction, especially in young women. In this case report, we presented the successful management of SCAD-induced ICA in a 46-year-old female patient who underwent posterior spinal instrumentation in the prone position due to lumbar intervertebral disc extrusion.

Increased inflammatory biomarkers have been reported in prosthetic heart valve thrombosis (PHVT). Monocyte to HDL ratio (MHR) and albumin to CRP levels (CAR) are two biomarkers used widely for systemic inflammation but there is a lack of data on prosthetic heart valves. This study aimed to find out the potential predictive value of MHR and CAR for PHVT.

This study compared the predictive power of the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and Naples prognostic score (NPS) in determining the severity of coronary artery disease (CAD). The study included 1138 patients who underwent coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA). The primary outcome was the evaluation of CAD severity, determined by the Coronary Artery Disease-Reporting and Data System (CAD-RADS) obtained from the CCTA scans.
