: This study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy and prognostic significance of staging laparoscopy (SL) compared to computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) in gastric cancer staging. We evaluated the ability of SL to detect occult peritoneal metastases and influence of SL on survival outcomes across cancer stages and treatment approaches. : In this retrospective cohort study, 95 patients with gastric cancer underwent preoperative assessment using CT, PET-CT, and SL between 2018 and 2024.

We have previously shown that CRP < 2.9 mg/L is a better predictor of endoscopic remission (ER) than CRP < 5 mg/L in ulcerative colitis (UC). Here, we prospectively evaluate CRP and FCP cut-offs and compare them in predicting ER and histological remission (HR) in UC.

Thoracic aortic dissection (TAD) is a highly lethal disease occurring inside the aortic wall and is characterized by matrix degradation. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are members of a large endopeptidase family that function in the degradation of the extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins, the maintenance of the ECM, and the regulation of signaling in the aorta. MMPs are found in tissue with their natural inhibitors.

Background: Diabetes foot infection is a very important public health problem that causes serious health problems, mortality, and high health expenditures, and is one of the most important complications of diabetes mellitus. There are concerns that approaches such as limited personal visits to doctors, avoidance of hospitals, and restrictions on nonemergency surgical procedures during the coronavirus disease of 2019 pandemic pose a threat to those with diabetic foot problems, including diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), ischemia, and infection, resulting in increased limb loss and mortality.
Methods: This multicenter, retrospective, cross-sectional study was conducted in 14 tertiary care hospitals from various regions of Turkey.

Introduction: End-stage kidney disease (ESKD) patients require life-sustaining kidney replacement therapies, with the natural arteriovenous fistula (AVF) being the preferred vascular access due to its low infection risk, high patency, and fewer complications. Factors like vessel diameter, gender, diabetes, age, and surgical technique influence AVF maturation.
Method: Our study focused on short-term AVF creation success, specifically examining estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) levels using the CKD-EPI formula.

Introduction: Naples prognostic score (NPS) based on nutritional and inflammatory parameters can predict response to chemotherapy and overall survival (OS) in many cancer types. However, its significance in metastatic pancreatic cancer (PC) remains unclear. We evaluated the prognostic significance of the NPS in patients with metastatic PC receiving first line chemotherapy.

Objective: In this study, the effect of tocilizumab (TCZ) on lung tissue in lung ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats was investigated.
Material And Methods: A total of 24 Wistar rats were divided into 4 equal groups, with 6 rats in each group: Left lung I/R was applied to I/R groups. In the I/R groups, the left lung hilum was clamped for 45 minutes, and then the clamp was removed and reperfused for 120 minutes.

Background: Surgical incisional approach to the ascending aorta is the main strategic step during valvular and/or subvalvular aortic interventions. Classic aortotomy incisions (transverse or oblique) can be challenging and can cause suboptimal exposure of the aortic root especially for the patients with small aortic annulus or for redo coronary artery bypass patients with patent proximal grafts interposed to the ascending aorta.
Methods: The Kırali incision was used in 91 patients (including 13 reoperations) who underwent an aortic intervention for valvular and subvalvular pathologies.

Background: We retrospectively evaluated early and intermediate outcomes of hybrid repair of complex thoracic aortic diseases involving an aberrant right subclavian artery. This paper aims to report features and available treatment options for this rare, hard-to-diagnose, and manage, aorta-related vascular condition.
Methods: Between January 2012 and May 2019, 13 patients (mean age, 60.

Thrombotic events associated with SARS-CoV-2 at the vascular endothelium still remains unclear. The aim of the current study is to determine the relationship between cellular proteins on the (ocular) vascular endothelial surface and the immune thrombotic and/or endotheliopathy process elicited by SARS-CoV-2 using an in-silico modeling. The structural S (spike glycoprotein), N (nucleocapsid protein), M (membrane protein), and E (envelope protein) proteins, an accessory protein (ORF1ab) of SARS-CoV-2 and 158 cellular proteins associated with retinal vascular endothelial cell surface or structure were included in this study for comparison of three-dimensional (3D) structure and sequence.

There is increasing evidence that composite scores based on blood counts, which are reflectors of uncontrolled inflammation in the development and progression of heart failure, can be used as prognostic biomarkers in heart failure patients. The prognostic effects of pan-immune inflammation (PIV) as an independent predictor of in-hospital mortality in patients with acute heart failure (AHF) were evaluated based on this evidence. The data of 640 consecutive patients hospitalized for New York Heart Association (NYHA) class 2-3-4 AHF with reduced ejection fraction were analyzed and 565 patients were included after exclusion.

Background: Sutureless aortic valve replacement (SU-AVR) and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) are becoming increasingly common. The aim of this study is to compare the clinical outcome and cost-effectiveness of the two methods.
Methods: In this study, cross-sectional retrospective data were collected on 327 patients who underwent SU-AVR (n = 168) and TAVI (n = 159).

Background: This study aims to investigate the effects of severe functional mitral regurgitation on the parameters that reflect right ventricular function such as tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion and right ventricular stroke work index in potential heart transplant recipients.
Methods: Between January 2015 and January 2017, a total of 282 consecutive patients (250 males, 32 females; mean age: 46±10 years; range, 18 to 66 years) with advanced heart failure who were referred for heart transplantation were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into two groups as severe (n=84) and non-severe functional mitral regurgitation (n=198).

Coverage of the left subclavian artery origin is required to achieve adequate proximal seal during up to 40% of TEVAR cases. The evidence regarding left subclavian artery revascularization in patients undergoing elective or emergent TEVAR with left subclavian artery coverage is weak, and there is ongoing debate whether revascularization should be performed routinely of selectively. Beyond this debate, there is a lack of data about left subclavian artery coverage during TEVAR in end-stage renal disease patients with a functional left upper limb atreriovenous fistula.
